Sony Ericsson Xperia pro review: Social Inc.

18 November 2011
Sony Ericsson can sit back and call it a job done. The last of the new Xperias is on the shelves and the impressive lineup gives them plenty of reasons to look forward to the holiday season. Quite a squad they have put together...

i own an Xperia pro for almost a month now. the cons I found is the plastic shell, it would be better if an aluminum (like HTC desire Z) shell for steadier feel. the tiny camera button is in an awkward position. but overall, i love this phone!

I think the word "poor" with regards to screen viewing angles is rather strong a word for GSMArena to use - I can think of no conceivable practical reason why you would want wider viewing angles than this has. You can see clearly to around 45 deg, and IMO is a good compromise between visibilty and privacy.

AnonD-12542, 24 Nov 2011Does it supports 1)3G video calling?? 2) mkv files?? 3)... moreIt plays mkv files but with software decoder, so HD mkv wil not play well. Actually MX Video Player tries to play mkv in harware decoding mode but its not correctly dont. Hopefully its possible to customize video players for the current xperia models to play mkv with hardware decoding, that way it will play HD mkv as well.

Currently only MP4 video is supported in hardware mode, MP4 HD videos play very well. Still, lack of hardware decoding support is a small problem, the real problem is that all current xperia models have bad displays, bravia may help but its still miles behind SLCD, or IPS displays like for example LG Optimus 2x. Bad contrast levels and high backlight bleed is adding to the problem of the poor viewing angle.

yes u can connect it to a monitor if your monitor has HDMI, or by using a HDMI-DVI adaptor.

The battery life of this phone is nothing short of amazing. I thought my Xperia ray was good, but my friend who has an Xperia pro has more than two days use on his phone and still has 41% battery left!! And it sure as hell ain't just standby time.

one last question. are you satisfied with the battery power?
I'm asking this since i'm a heavy user, speaking at least 4 hours per day on the phone, then not to mention, web browsing around 1 hours, and email, weather, etc another hour, plus around 2 hours of music listening. will the battery make it through the day?

Thank you again for all your answers!!! :)
