Sony Xperia S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II: S-hootout

09 March 2012
Released nearly a year apart, the Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy S II are not that different - both are flagship droids with dual-core CPUs and 4.3" screens. But the newer Xperia S brings some fine upgrades, like a 12MP camera and a 720p screen.

Yusei, 09 Mar 2012outdated? ROFL Dude specs isn't everything, look at WP, ... moreYes... outdated! This is the same as the arc! Sony is just playing catch up with big names! And sadly, as always, it is one year too late! But let us let numbers do the talking! Let's see how the Xperia S does in the market, alright? Next to all the quad-core devices coming out this year... including, yes, the GS3! With any luck, maybe Sony's 2013 flagship will probably catch up with the former flagships of 2012! Now that is worth a ROFL

one thing this shoot-out failed to mention is the price difference between the S2 and the Xperia S. this year old flagship is a winner in my opinion. Sony did a great job on the screen, i give them that but not that's not enough. the SAMOLED plus still fares well and the all out performance of the S2 makes me lean towards it.

Dude specs isn't everything, look at WP, they are super fast in Web Browsing without DC or QC.

At this time, Sony just use a tecnology that is stable and works perfectly, wait until you see the QC phones and my Xperia S will do everything like them, with, better camera, better sound, better screen and so on...

Thank you for helping me decide for what phone to buy. I was between this two, i have seen them both live but the HD resolution of the xperia s has made the difference for me over the galaxy s2. And what i lacked in order to buy the xperia s was your post. I am not a core addict since i do not play any games in my mobile and i believe a dual core phone is more than enough.

AnonD-30293, 09 Mar 2012For the record, I'm getting my SGS2 back soon enough, and I... moreCouldn't Agree with you more. White paper lovers can stick with these Samsungs and all else BUT THEY LACK SENSE AND STYLE. User experience is exactly the reason why I gave up on GS2 and went for ARC S. Hell it fits better in hand. The ergonomics are way better and I have no complains. Also this fuss over the "AMOLED" & viewing angles... really it doesn't matter as much in reality. In fact I found GS2's screen to be too dark in dark areas missing details. While Arc S does much better. More over the, buttons, the direct sun light legibility is better in the Arc S. All in all the overall experience I have had with Arc S is much better than that of GS2's. Its more about Clever sensible designing than creating hype in the specs sheet.
I speak for the likes of myself... no real discredit meant to the hot selling (hyped) GS2.

And to think it only took Sony (SE)more than a year to finally catch up with the phone that has been at the top spot for almost a year! Lol...

And even then, they couldn't match it

                How pathetic is that!! Pathetic!

Actually, video recording in front facing camera is damn possible in galaxy s2. Go to video mode and select 'self recording' in the video option on the top left corner.

                                  Galaxy S III probably > Xperia S

If the Xperia S had a newer generation GPU and quad core processor I probably would have bought it by now.
                                  I don't want a 4.8" phone.

Why every1's bragging about quad cores, how many of you have quad core pc's, and xs is a sgs2 killer in anyway you compare, in a few years sony's gonna wipe every other company.
