According to Samsung the "plastic" on S3 is actually polycarbonate! "Polycarbonate is used on the battery cover. Polycarbonate is lightweight, solid and is already being widely used in the mobile industry. It was chosen as the best material to represent the minimal organic design of GALAXY S III. Using three layers of high quality, pure and clear polycarbonate, not only is the phone’s aesthetic elevated, but the durability and scratch resistance is maximized."

It is a perfect phone spec and feature wise but the design ruined everything. the thin bezel makes it look ugly and the home button is so weird. I am sure most of us would sacrifice display size for better looks and proper handling. Who needs more than 4.5 inches anyway?

Samsung better sort the Ice Cream software on this phone, because they offered the update for the S2 an now Sky-Go will not work on it,because Samsung forgot to tell Sky about the Update so still not able to work on the S2,an also the Music effects on the S2 will not function right now like the use to,just wished this phone had a 12 mega-pixel camera on it,as alot of people will stay Loyal to the S2 with the Economy struggling,Nokia 808 will have the Best Camera on it,but will people give Symbian another go because of the Superb Camera if its cheaper than the S3

somehow after reading this review, ive come to the conclusion that the galaxy note offers much more bang for buck, the only point not in its favor being the huge size which means it wont fit in your pocket, in all the benchmarks as well as display/sound it comes out near the top and considering that s3 might be priced the same or higher than the note...

Very good in depth review, but nothing mentioned about the 50 gig dropbox. Phones looks all what its hyped up to be and more. Now the battle begins on the 30th with a lot of lovers and haters of this phone but what's new same old same old.

Congrats to GSM for great reviews, keep it up!! However a bit of bias comes up when in the "Final Words" of the SIII the following is stated: "When we say "hate it", we're mostly referring to its size (though it's not much bigger than the S II) ... basically for me, the size is a deal breaker unfortunately ... a bit of bias refers to the statement of the SIII being "not much bigger" than the SII ... let's compare SII is 125,3 x 66.1 while the SIII is 136,6 x 70,6 - that makes is over 11mm taller and 4.5 mm wider - that's "not much bigger" ??!! I mean really, do manufacturers consider this a comfortable smartphone to carry around in one's pocket? Manufacturers need to get the message that we don't want a tablet in our pocket just to have the latest and greatest technologies and quad core CPUs in a "smartPHONE" - they need to offer this in reasonable sized phone (i.e. 3.7 to 4.3 inch screens max)

I still prefer the HTC ONE X, anyway of the week. I wish there wasn't Pentile, and also the Voice thing and body ad to the cheapness feeling of the all plastic samsung.. Thats why I like the ONE X, it does everything well, instead of somethings brilliant and somethings poor.
And all the Sammy fans seem to be taking the lack of special CPU chip upgrade well..

Thanks for the extremely well-written review. Two thumbs up for GSMArena!
There is one thing I couldn't help noticing though. You didn't mention the sound quality of the video recordings. I downloaded the untouched video samples and the sound quality of those samples is poor. Could it perhaps be due to the unit being a pre-production one? Otherwise, I can't see why you didn't discuss the matter in the review.

Cannot wait to get this phone in white - find it looks good to me and as the reviews have stated smooth and snappy and confirmed I have made the right choice in the S3.
Having owned a HTC I found the older versions of sense to be laggy and often used other launchers which are much snappier and quicker. I saw the HOX in CPW and sense does work quite smoothly but I still prefer the Touch Wiz on the S3. This is more like stock ICS and not heavily configured like in S2, which is why I can't understand why it is being slated by users here. Have they even used this version of Touch Wiz!?
