Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III review: S to the third

20 May 2012
Today is no ordinary day for the GSMArena test track, which is about to see the Bugatti Veyron of smartphones do the rounds in an attempt to beat the lap record of its predecessor. Samsung have spared no effort to protect the Galaxy S III against any odds.

Let the haters hate, Samsung has done it again. It's funny how many people are hating and yet they will go and buy it. What a bunch of sissies.

ASJAG, 21 May 2012Congrats to GSM for great reviews, keep it up!! However a b... moreagree with you mate the phone probably is too big but ill still get it cause honestly i have used all touchscreen phones with two hands so no problem there also unless you where skinny jeans then carrying this will be no issue...have tried the nexus which is same size as this and it fits easily into any of my pockets again dont know what you where so...also just like people said the note was too big and well look ut sold 5+million fromits last count couple of months ago so its probably even higher now...people get use to things i mean i use to think iphone was big but now its tiny i use to think the s2 would be too big as i has the ip4 before it but it was just as easy to use,,i think the s3 is too big but am sure in a few months time that will feel just normal to me and considering that there is 9milion pre orders allready i know its by carriers but customers pre order was available a while back so am guessing carriers must be getting a lot of pre orders for the s3 if they are ordering mass amounts and i would bet that the 9million s3s will sell and if it sells then it shows that there are people that want bigger phone...thats whats great about android there will likely be a phone that fits your need.

          go to phone arena
          it's polycarbonate not plastic
which means the case is much stronger, more durable, and more scratch resistant

Mr Bluesman, 22 May 2012Lumia 900 has low specs than this, but who cares, it works ... moreMy good ol' SGS1 is working smooth too, with even lower specs than your Lumia.
Why did you change your last phone for?

Yes, more features and to be more up-to-date.

I wonder when ppl will stop b!tching about what are made Galaxy S line phones. Really, since SGS1, it has been known that Samsung were using some plastic composite (not to say polycarbonate or hyperglaze or any other thing to shock 1st nerd reading), and yet, they are among the less damaged/broken phones.
Thanks to that, Galaxy S phones are light-weight, resistant enough (who plans on keeping his phone active more than 5 years nowadays?), can't be deformed (metal) on impacts, or shattered (glass), back can be replaced easily with a new one "affordably", and best of all, heat isn't kept inside (or shared on whole shell).
Let's not add what doesn't interest us too much (environmental reasons, manufacturing/selling costs, nonconductor..).

Lumia 900 has low specs than this, but who cares, it works smoothly! And it's beautiful!! I love my Lumia 900!

(as if the SGS3 will be any better in real life, on cahrger at 11PM, off charger at 8AM.. same same.. and I said HTC ONE X does everything well, instead of somethings great and somethings poor.. I think 32GB memory installed is actually very good. (and so HTC is doing memory quiet well.)

Google is pulling strings to see how high we will jump in the market to buy a product that does not add any additional functionality to our lives. Samsung is great at manufacturing products in a timely manner, but there is a limit to just what the market will absorb with limited advances in software. Android will go backwards if it cannot maintain its relevance. Trying to be something for everyone is a mistake, as shown by bloatware and limited upgrade path. Everything you do Google is watching, your mobile that is.

Must admit I am kind of disappointed. Read entire review and couldn't find one thing to draw me towards this phone. It got killer HW specs but, no one needs quad core CPU in a phone, or 1GB of RAM, and synthetic benchmarks are exactly that. Useless synthetic benchmarks. Difference in speed in everyday use between Xperia S and One X is minimal at best. Google should work on optimizing OS so it would run flawlessly on 1GHz single core and 256-512MB RAM. That would allow OEM-s to lower the price and increase sales of their phones. Regarding SenseUI vs TouchWiz debate, they both look bloated and way too shiny and flashy, like they are made for 16 years old girl. Vanilla Android on Galaxy Nexus looks way better and cleaner (IMO). Also omission of two-stage camera key is gigantic deal-breaker for lot of people (me included), and lowers camera functionality a lot.

As usual, Samsung wins on the technical aspects of phones but loses in real life. Note that Samsung has the SECOND WORST (only "beating" RIM) customer satisfaction out of every phonemaker.
