[deleted post]You obviously have never used the note 2. The build quality is first rate... if you don't believe me check out the drop tests... it is on par with the iphone 5 but doesn't come with the easy scratch aluminium body... DID YOU MENTION BUILD QUALITY???

Whilst I an appreciate the hardware advances and quality of Samsung, I am not sure what additional real world functionality these products bring. Sure excellent gaming devices, and camera's, even a few video's and don't forget actually make a phone call, or check quickly a web site. There is just too much focus on the interface and customisation of it, all of which doesn't actually do anything. Too much time is wasted just farting around with so called customisation and all things Google but nothing of any real substance is actually delivered. Where is the real software advances. I find these mobiles boring, and I have a Note I, which is great but never lives up to expectations. I think WP8 will deliver on proper integration and far better personal and business functions.

I am still reading the article but need to make one comment.
GSM says that the NOTE 2 has a "Slightly brighter screen".....
My partner has a SGS3 and its one of the dullest screens i have ever seen. My Note 2 is noticible brighter than my note and a lot lot brighter than my business partners S3.
I know GSM Arenas first Note 2 was a lot brighter than the Note... i think your current unit may not be representative of the note 2 screen brightness.

Everything you do with the S3, you can do it with the Note II. But not the other way around.
Unless size really matters for you, its pretty obvious which one should you chose.

I have been using i4 for the past 2 years, I didn't change to a i4s because i think there's no change, I didn't change to i5 because i still think there's no change at ALL. First when i saw my friend holding the s3 i still think iphone is the best because i was hoping for a surprise from i5. Unfortunately NO SURPRISE at All. I moved on with the note 2 for about 2 weeks now. I never thought of android phone could be that cool. I installed the TSF shell launcher, i have to admit ANDROID ROCKS now. IOS u need something more on i6 (hoping).

haru280, 12 Oct 2012people sure have the nerve to talk about iphone 5 and nokia... morefirst of all, before you talk, maybe you should check your facts too. Im neither an android fan nor an apple fan. I've used both phones, and one thing is for sure, android is way over rated (i have an galaxy nexus S).
You wanna talk about who had what before who? yes you're right, android had talk to text and swipe unlock before apple... they also had pull down notification menu before.. but all that means nothing cause it all comes to personal preference.
... regarding who outsells who.. that doesnt matter either. Look at BB.. they outsold iphone and android at one point, and they were a piece of crap from day one. Just like the moto razr flip phone was a marker leader.
... and just to let you know.. nokia's symibian was the first smartphone OS to flood the market. And meamo on the nokia n900 did things that 5 years what android is introducing in the market a year ago. So dont talk about who did what before who.
microsoft started thier OS 1.5 years ago, and they are more lag free, simple, and powerful and android and iOS combined.
it comes to personal preference PERIOD.
... hail microsoft.

people sure have the nerve to talk about iphone 5 and nokia, but most of us see all the problems with these phones, that fanboys are blind to....the new ipod touch resembles the nokia, and apple has the nerve to talk about samsung copying. Apple removing google was the worst thing they couldve done, causing alot of people to sell their iPhones for the gs3. all these features that apple claims to make, have been on android for years, the mytouch slide had a virtual assistant(genius button) years b4 the iPhone 4s. Androids also had talk to text, and notifications screen, all that you are now just seeing on iPhone. So check your fact b4 you target phones that outsell your nokia's and apples

For me, S3 screen size is enough but I'm going for Note 2 because of 2 gig of ram and bigger battery.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2012i prefer iphone 5 over these 2 weak phone & your dead n... moreLet's assume it's true ALL "those features of Samsung can easily be intalled on ios with just an app" (links to those apps or it's not true).
Can you mention a single innovation Apple brought to the table with the iPhone 5? Here are some characteristics that are new to the iPhone line up (no innovations IMHO though):
A6X performance (there are already more powerful SoCs and GPUs)
Build and weight (impact resistant which is great, but plagued with quality issues)
Screen, camera and maps were all a big let down. And software wise there isn't even one thing that draws my attention. I saw the full keynote and it was a big yawn. Apple has done some excellent handsets, the iPhone 5 is not one of those.

i'm a 167cm tall guy with 50 kgs of weight and i own the first Galaxy Note and i'm loving every bit of it. so screw anyone says that it's too big.
evenmore Note II has a better handling for thinner device and narrower screen. i would love to have it but it's too soon to change a device (bought the Note in April)
so i guess if u regret by the size of it i say: you can do what the eF u wanna do.

I'd like to see a comparison between Optimus G and Note II. Though surely we know who wins :P
