22 November 2012
Back up against the wall, Nokia looks to the launch of the first Windows Phone 8 smartphones as a make or break moment. It’s not essential for the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 to become bestsellers, but it’s absolutely vital that they convince users of Microsoft’s mobile platform's potential...

How's your quadcore chips now? L820 beats SG3 easily in the benchmark test. Knowing that it uses only Dual core kraits.

Again it boils down to the proper utilization of CPU&GPU together with its OS.

I like w8, Nokia chassi is well done.
But the price is not my cup tea to be honest. I can't trust anymore after Nokia 900 and 800.
Androids with many variations is not well pleasant, but you can get a nice smart or superphone with reasonable price. Meegoo great OS and they kick off. Tense.

If you have an Android then you can "try" WP8 by installing a WP8-launcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920531
Can you install any different launcher on WP8 if you do not like the Metro-UI?

Jrc, 22 Nov 2012Exactly the same designs as the previous generation of Lumi... moreyou have no idea what you're talking about.. and clearly you're hear just to bad mouth!
first of all, you haven't used this phone or the 920, so you have NO SAY as to how it feels. Secondly, this phone feels more solid than 99% of the androids out there.

Thirdly, they hardware is old? are you stupid? there's only 5 quad core phones in north america.. ALLL OTHER PHONES have crappier hardware than this phone. Not to mention, this phone is still faster than ALL ANDROIDs out there... the benchmarks show this dual core is still faster than the LG optimus 4X HD,and Huawei Quad XL.

Dont open your mouth for no reason. you jealous hater.
                hail. microsoft.

I could buy it if there would be clean vanilla Android 4.2. Who needs phone with windows ux antipatterns and without usable software?

i bet i will, 22 Nov 2012only sell a few tens of thausands at best... No radio, n... moreOh yeah?
1- We hear the radio hardware is in there, WP8 enables it with an update.

2-TV out?! As someone said before, wires are so 2009! Any decent TV supports DLNA nowadays and you can play stuff wirelessly on it.

3-Adreno 225 is still one of the top GPUs out there. Much better than the Maali on GSIII.

4-So now the AMOLED on all these phones is bad? That's your personal taste.

5-I never figured out what the gyroscope is used for anyways.

6-No wallpapers?! As if everyone should just stick with a background and rows of icons on top? Again, personal taste.

7-No multiple home screens? And again, everyone should stick to what iOS did and Android copied, right?

8-WP8 has mass storage mode now (in addition to USB OTG), and you can put whatever media you want in there. It's not like you are dealing with iOS here.

If you don't like it, it's ok but don't base an objective argument ("it won't sell") all on your own personal taste.

well yeah, for some ppl Ui is ugly, but some (like me) is really cool and refreshing, and yes, some thing are still missing, but wp like this isnt that long in business so it will take time,1-2-3 updates to get it in the right way,so if 820 and 920 sales go well,i think nokia will make some pretty cool phones in 2013 + nokia apps, and yes,mb u have to pay for them, but they are one of the best on the market,so gogo nokia :D

Exactly the same designs as the previous generation of Lumia, just this time a bit larger display and wp8 instead of 7. Last time didn't go too well, why would it this tiime round? The main mistakes are still there.

                                A) the phones are quite large in for the screen size, and heavy.
                                B) the hardware features are bellow par.
                                C) Neither the phone's design nor windows metro interface are particilarly atrative.

Sorry, but in a competitive market like this one, there's no roo for mediocre players..

2 things to clarify : for power users never and never ios or wp with their nature will be replacements of android , about metro ui , a lot of people including me find it really very ugly! good review though!only apple should worry because of their far less superior everything , so all people buying apple for no reasons should switch to wp 8 or android of course!
