Google Nexus 4 review: Royal road

07 December 2012
It's the next-generation Nexus and this time LG has the privilege. And when Google goes "My pleasure!", they most likely mean it. The Nexus 4 aggressively undercuts competitors' pricing as it sets out to wipe the floor with most of them in terms of speed and...

Don't know why anyone would bother with Nexus 4 when LG got it right with Opt G. 32gb internal, LTE, fastest hardware, beautiful design, way nicer than Nexus 4 body for sure.. only thing about LGOG that is lacking is the camera.. its not that great. Everything else though is awesome.

Sony XPERIA P is better than Nexus 4 - cheaper price with almost same features(CPU is a downgrade, though) and xperia p is only one version - 16gb, but p has usb host+hdmi.

People must capture 5MP Photos and 720p HD videos - these are standard for most people. And MP3s are in atleast 128kbps. And why people wont play HD Games? Single piece HD game size is 1GB+ . so, for 5mp photos+HD videos+HD games+standard 128/192kbps mp3 songs 8gb is no go, and 16gb is not enough.

If u wana enjoy best video viewing experience- nothing can be better than GALAXY S or Note series, as they can play any video at any resolution at any format. But u cant do so on this nexus 4. Though it got proper cpu, nexus 4 is the dumbest performer.

I am worried about some people, they might buy this and wont be happy and then flood the forum trolling android. This already happened with dumb galaxy nexus. They should check what is touchwiz with android and what is stock poor android. 8GB sucks big time. No usb otg. Nexus 4 not a great phone at all.

I don't know how your review phone was different from the Nexus 4 I received, but your frequency response chart was no where near "my" reality. There was a rapid falloff in treble, to the point where cymbals all but disappeared. Other charts I have seen posted online were in line with what I heard. What gives? Was there some firmware update in the phone you reviewed? The audio I heard could not in any way be considered good.

I have SGS3 with 16GB and 64GB MicroSD card, but my music collection is larger, 150GB. I can't be confident what music I would like to listen during the day so it is very good when you have all music with you. Still there are no alternative except IPod Classic now for real music lovers with big collection. Or Google think that geeks don't listen to music and watch video online only? Or MicroSD slot does too many mess for developers? No, moreover they should know the realities of market when almost all smartphones have microSD slot and develop apps according with this point. That's why some apps from Market I installed can't see external SD, thank you, Google.

This device is good because of its pure google experience, it may have some flaws or limitations on its specifications and physical features but even so if we look closely to the changes of the android operating systems. We can easily point out that 4.1 and 4.2 jelly bean's are a way more stable OS because of its Project butter that made the UI smooth and fun to use. I don't mind having only 16gb of storage because I can just update always my music, put different videos or place and remove photos from this device to my laptop every night. What's the use of your laptop if you want to store all your music, videos and photos in your smartphone that has a big capacity(it'll just affect the speed of your smartphone because of the massage stored items.)

Given the fact that it has a powerful quad core processor and very nice Snapdragon S4 chip inside, it can cater to one or two games which eventually eat your time so its better to finish first those games before installing some more to maximize the storage capacity. (If you really don't want to buy a PS3,WII,XBOX etc.) The videos most likely are much enjoyable to watch on an HDTV but its good that it has a TV-OUT and mirroring capabilities just in case.

A lot of us has different approach on buying a smartphone but for me, owning a Google product is a whole new level of experience as it vastly updates itself overtime with the newest updates google has to offer. (y)
