HTC One review: To rule them all

22 March 2013
Arguably one of the most exciting pieces of smartphone design in recent times, the HTC One is also properly powered and flaunts a screen that should please even the most demanding eyes...

I've never understood this hype about having a removable battery. I've always had phones with this but never used it and none of the people I know carried with them a spear battery. You may as well get one of this, or even cheaper ones could be found on the market, you get much more juice and get rid off closing/starting your phone plus the back cover doesn't wear from all that opening. But many are so close minded that they repeat all the nonsense they hear, or try really hard to find silly disadvantages...Having a removable battery is the last thing I look for on a phone.

TAG, 25 Mar 2013one`s camera best since now..just compare it with iphone 5 ... moreAgreed. 8mp ultrapixel will blow up the market. Was hopin that HTC announces ONE+ in some months and put a bit better cam. That wud help the reps in the outlets to convince the customers in a better way. Coz many of my buds say 4mp.is too low though I argue its ultra.
But m in love with this beauty

AnonD-107466, 25 Mar 2013I agree it's overall a very good smart phone but about the ... moreI will tell who was shocked, NOKIA!!

I was in Barcelona and I spent a lot of time at the HTC stand over the 4 days the event was going. I could not help noticing how may Samsung reps were there,EVERYDAY!!

Anyway as for Nokia, they kept sending reps over to challenge the HTC reps. Anyway what they didn't know was one of the HTC reps is a photographer, but he was very humble about it.

Anyway Nokia tried everything good cop bad cop on the HTC rep, they even tried to hide there Nokia badges, but the HTC rep was able to sniff them out.

On one challenge the Nokia rep took the HTC phone to do a test in low light and tried to cheat. When you tap the screen on a HTC phone, it ajusts the focus and the exposure. He did it on a White subject to make the image look dark, the HTC rep pointed this out and the Nokia rep said I know. The HTC just ignored him and let him continue. When they finish, the HTC rep pull the first person in he could see to judge the image. The guy he pulled in was from a tec website, he owned a Nokia 920 and he said you can see the HTC One looks better. The Nokia rep just said oh no, I think they are about the same.

The Nokia sent someone else down, they always came in two's. He also tried to go undercover, but you could hear in his question that he was sniffing for something.

He asked to see the phone in low light, but the HTC rep spoke to him for about 15min on photography before he let him in the darkroom.

He gave him the HTC One, but the Nokia rep did not pull out the Nokia 920. He then too a picture in low light. . . these were his words "Oh, Oh, I was not expecting that, I didn't know it was that good" the HTC rep then turn around and said these test are silly, no one really take pictures in these conditions. Most people will use flash. So he asked the Nokia rep to take a picture of his mate with flash and it looked a little washed out. He then tried the HTC One and wow, spot on. It use's something called smart flash. It shoots five levels for flash, reading the distance between the lens and the subject. One that save your battery life, two it give the correct exposure. Unlike the Nokia 920 . . .

I was there so I so saw it for myself, it's up to you if you choose to believe my or not.

But how can you trust gsmarena or any other tec websites out there if a lot of the times, they are testing the same phones and they and getting different results.

Also the HTC One's that have been tested so far are pre production, where the Nokia 920 is not.

Over to you HTC, great job

                  Main disadvantage
4MP camera has disappointing performance in good lighting conditions
Poor video and audio codec support out of box

I don't agree. Nokia holds the title of having the best camera in smartphones yet. Check out the Lumia 920's camera, good light and poor lighting conditions. You will be shocked ;)

Better speakers are always a welcome for most end users though some do not care but I think the majority do care about better speakers these days.

Just look at the sound output that comes out of most Garmin devices. They do not make you run a 3.5mm wire to your car speakers just to hear the navigation directions.

Also if you were out riding on a bicycle where would you run a wire then?

All I am saying is that better speakers are always a welcome and a plus from my point of view.

Why are people asking for removable battery while power bank can last as good as 4 complete charging cycles of a phone, which is equivalent to 4 backup batteries for those heavy users?I wonder how troublesome it is to keep swapping the batteries for charging day to day and finally make the battery terminal spoilt sooner..

11 suggestions to samsung for making galaxy s5 successfull-

                                        1. A faux metal body(real metal looks cool, faux wud help in costing procedures)
                                        2. A durable body(my elder brother dropped his s3 and we were left with a crack in the back)
                                        3. IP 57 rating for dust, water and volcanic lava resistance (lava resistance for standing away from the crowd)
                                        4. Smart think feature(u think it, ur galaxy s5 does it, like cooking food)(its the next big thing in world of gimmicks)
                                        5. 470ppi. 469ppi has recently been conquered.
                                        6. Wait for iPhone 6 and next HTC flagship(for recent updates in technology)
                                        7. 25mp ultrapixel cam(ultrapixel is the new concept)
                                        8. Getting a deal with premier league football for ads(courtesy HTC)
                                        9. A fresh, out of the box design, unlike all galaxy clone phones(even galaxy ace has the same basic idea for design)(the box here in mentioned is Sony's or HTC's)
                                        10. Again wait for technologically innovative brands, when there spec sheet is out, use the financial prowess and buy the next level of what the competitor has
                                        11. Launch a website like GSMa but where only Samsung friendly comments are allowed(though GSMa is the best but other brand fans are increasing here each day!)
