Galaxy Mega 6.3 vs. Ascend Mate: Shadows of giants

Back when phones were just phones, a couple of buttons and an earpiece were enough. Now we try to pump our entire lives through our smartphones and a big screen is a must. With the new 6+ inch phablets happy to oblige, pocket size is bigger...

    so, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is cheaper than Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Also for my girlfriend the Mega 5.8 is an option to the Mate, but then she would need a power bank or spare battery.

                They both suck in many ways, but the Mate has a price point where you'd expect it to suck much more. I'm impressed, battery life and 2GB and you can't beat on-screen buttons for efficiency. The lack of an app switcher button on Galaxy devices is disturbing, why do we need a menu button when there is no menu to access? The menu button is clearly an on-demand button, having it there all the time is like driving a car with the spare wheel in the passenger seat. I spent some time with on-screen buttons on Xperia, very convincing experience. My girlfriend will be buying a Mate, she need that battery.

                        I had the Note 2 and sold it to purchas the Mega 6.3. So far, so good. I would recommend the 16GB version though. The Mega performs better than the Note 2 in most aspects and many apps don't take advantage of quad-core processors so I've had no trouble with lag. I consume more media than actually using the device as a phone so it fits my needs... and surprisingly my pockets.

                            not sure about other countries/regions, but in my place the mega 6.3 lte 16gb version is like 50-70 USD cheaper than Note 2 16gb 3g version.

                                Pricing it more expensive then the Note II is a really stupid decision by Samsung in my opinion. The Note II is clearly a better device, it's the true phablet king even until now. It has super amoled hd screen with non-pentile matrix arrangement, Gorilla Glass, S-pen, and better camera (if I'm not mistaken). So why on earth would anyone opt for this mega phone?!

                                  Samsung should price the mega 6.3 reasonably cause even if it costs the same as note 2.. the note 2 is a better choice bcz of its premium features.. mega should be priced around 450$... then it will be the best in class
