If the dimensions of this phone had been smaller I would even consider switching from android to W8. Too thick, too much bezel!!!

I bet the only time the Lumia will have a 1080p screen is when they release the Lumia 1080 with 41mp+ sensor on the back with "dual-xenon flash".... :D

Nokia and Microsoft should think a way to give buyers the chance to change the phone`s UI like Launchers are in Android world or something like that becouse people are different and some may like the actual interface of WP whyle others do not. This in my opnion a solution to gain more market share then they actualy have .So good luck and think about it ,Nokia.

naser, 18 Jul 2013When u get andriod all urs phone will success...I'm sorry, what? If the Lumia range went to android Nokia would have no chance. The amount of money it would cost Nokia simply wouldn't be worth it. They'd have to compete against the likes of Samsung, HTC, LG etc. You must be stupid if you think Android will be success for Nokia. You're just a fanboy that wants the device, but are too scared to try out windows phone. I pity you.

Nokia has gone crazy churning out craps back to back to gain market but all in vain. They are only concentrating on camera rather than on the phone.First make the phone perfect. Then only think of upgrading camera.

Honestly though...
2 things are holding Nokia's 'flagships' back...
(3 if you include the OS limitations)
1. Battery life - nevermind whether you can replace it or not, for a camera-centric device with a xenon flash - you need juice - this is substandard and unacceptable on a supposed flagship...
2. Expandable memory - again, we're talking HD videos, fantastic photos, apps, games, whatever - no option to put an SD card in - despite CHEAPER NOKIA MODELS HAVING THIS OPTION? On a flagship? Totally unacceptable...
3. Screen resolution / future-proofing (I know, limited to OS at the moment) - but there isn't even any forward thinking to Nokia handsets - the 920 has come out immediately superceded by the 1020 - same as the debacle last year with 900 / 920 - they're cannibalising their own users and not thinking about what is coming (8.1) in the next 6 months - so when the new windows mobile version comes out - these will be rendered obsolete and no doubt Nokia will release another couple of 'slight' upgrades...
It's sad really, because if they just threw everything at one handset and made it future-proof for just 2 years it would be a hit... at the moment - far too many compromises...

I dont understand why in the review do mention (like cons ) to a slower proccessors in the lumia 1020 (or 920-925-928 etc) Windows Phone is for far. less hungry in proccessor use.!! my old lumia 800 (single core) is more faster than androids with 2 cores with more ghzs and with the time have not lags or speed loss like androids phones. (Working like the first day..!! and i have more than 100 apps installed in the phone.!!)
two 1.5 ghz cores in windows phone is more than enought. But this is only understand for windows phone users and serius androids user. ( if android continued with their ungry resources proccessors... the next androidphone will be need a Intel i7 5.9ghz with 16 cores to work !!)( and of course.. a battery with 16.000miliamp and an UPS..!!!)
THe new W8 with support for 4 cores is (i believe) more merchandising reason but technical.

AnonD-166033, 17 Jul 2013Is it advisable to upgrade to lumia 1020 if I already have ... moreYes, Lumia 1020 has many advantages over 808:
-OIS when taking pictures and shooting video, so no more blurry pictures from shaky hands.
-You can use ISO up to 3200 (max 1600 on 808). Iso 3200 is good for capturing moving targets in low light that are too far away to use the xenon flash. And to take images in very dark environments.
-On 1020 you can manually set shutter speed from 1/16000 to 4 seconds. 1/16000 is good if you want to take a picture of the sun or a fast moving target. 4 seconds is good for very low light, to create light painting, to create a ghost effect of moving people, motion blur effect.
-It takes a 38 mp and a 5 mp image simultaneously.
-It has cinemagraph, smart camera to take multiple images in a short time, nokia pro cam.
-It has wireless charging, camera grip accesory with extra battery.
-It has a higher resolution screen, more ram, better cpu, faster internet than 808.
-Windows Phone has more apps than Symbian on 808.

infernovip, 16 Jul 2013yeap this videos are fake... all videos from this yuotube c... moreThe youtube Lumia 1020 videos are not fake, the camera zooms just like 808, but you can see that the camera has OIS, 808 doesn't have OIS, so the videos are shot with 1020.
If you can't believe the details you see, then you should know that Lumia 1020 records video in 8k resolution (7728 x 4354) then resizes (oversampling) the video to 1080p, resulting a crystal clear 1080p video.
Also you should know that youtube degrades video quality so the original videos are even more detailed!

S4 looks like it has little bit better sharpness than Lumia 920 in daylight but the upcoming Amber update for Lumia 920 will improve the sharpness in the camera. Other than that Lumia 920 destroys S4 camera in low light, video recording (OIS), and audio recording (HAAC mics).

Still a bit oddly shaped although major steps towards elegance have been taken. Just wondering if making the phone just a little thicker all around couldve led to being able to ditch the bump?

1020 is a nice upgrade of the 92x family, not altogether a new device. Tweaked, polished, boosted. I'd definitely give it a try if I was buying a new phone, but so far my lumia 920 delivers 100%.
For the Win 8 phone... I am a convert... was on Android, went to win8 out of pure curiosity and got convinced totally. I got another asus transformer TF700 pad and experia T, both on Jelly bean as secondary devices and they simply fade by comparison. Not only design wise, but performance and stability wise aswell.

Microsoft should think of redesigning the WP8 UI.It is With all same tiles everywhere, less graphics most part of it is plain text with some color background and feels very dull and boring. In android the simplest part of the UI looks awesome
