If you want to set an mp3 that is over 300k as your ringtone, it can be done. You need to covert the mp3 to a 3gp file and transfer it to your phone. Works perfect.

I really like the sound quality. I wasn't expecting much but doesn't sound to bad.
I got it used (at&t) and it was locked but I got an unlock code from here http://www.unlockcellphonecode.com/product_info.php/code-for-unlocking-samsung-mobile-cell-phone-p-65 and am now using it with iwireless.
overall I'm pretty impressed with it.

I got one from AT&T, and have it unlocked to use with a KCell SIM here in Kazakhstan. Everything works great except for FB and mobile browser (Cannot access service). It seems AT&T locked the browser to go thru their proxy or some sort of similar network specific config. Does anyone know how to reset this to factory settings?

I am usually within a wifi area, so it is convenient to look something up. If I am not in a wifi area, I am probably doing something more interesting then going on the net.

From Technical Support as Samsung in response to my enquiry of the band:
            GSM 850/900/1800/1900 & UMTS 850/1900 are supported.
            UMTS 1700/2100 are not supported.

So for those who want to use 3G in Australia - not suitable.

You can only assign ringtones that are a maximum of 20 seconds and 300KB or less. I used Audacity to crop audio files, then export as mp3 and adjusting sampling rate to reduce the file size.

I'm having difficulties with converting video to appropriate aspect ratios now. Works ok with tv shows, but movies might be another issue.

                  1) Are all the Samsung A897, made for AT&T or are there non-branded ones available?
                  2) If anyone has a AT&T one, could you tell me if the specs is the same as listed here on gsmarena...which is: HSDPA 850/900/2100 or is it only the GSM 850/900/1900 bandwidth.
                  3) I have not seen it advertised anywhere with the bandwidth HSPDA 850/900/2100...this is the bandwidths that I need in Australia

Can anyone help? I've already uploaded mp3 ringtones to the phone, but cannot assign them to any of my contacts....it says the file is "Too Large". If I were to get the phone UNLOCKED, could I then set any of the mp3 ringtones to my contacts? Or, should I get a bigger memory card, instead of saving all the ringtones on the internal memory.

                      Thanks!

Resolution on this phone is good 360x640 but mythic is only capable to play mp4 (movies or videos) converted to 320x240 max. On top of that, the butterflies as an unremovable wallpaper is a dream of any heterosexual male ( nightmare )

Just got this phone yesterday, I love it except it does not consistently detect touch and movement in the same way each time. Yes, I've re-calibrated it. Impossible to use the web, half of the functions do not work in the browser, can't search, can't find Media Net, slow to load pages, can't tell if it's on 3G can't read the small icon... going to give it away to someone who doesn't use the web and get my Razr2 V9x back that I love.

My phone is about three weeks old, and I think it's great. The only thing I dislike is you can't change the wallpaper on lock and unlock, it cycles. Butterflies and flowers or cool, but for men......
And you can't download your music and make them ring tones. Remember its a cell phone and anything else that is installed on it is what we in New Orlens call Lagniappe. GO SAINTS!!!!!!

                                I have had this phone for a few weeks. The good: Screen resolution pretty good; Java browser is very good; Phone clarity is good; Nice compliment of apps;

The bad: battery life is poor if using the browser alot - really poor; This is not a smart phone - so you can't add other apps and/or run multi task applications; e.g. the email will not have instant update because it is access thru the browser. In that respect, most smartphones will be better, but as a non-smartphone, unlimited data service is only $10/month thru ATT. I'd say if you don't need a email constantly (you sit next to a PC) and/or it's not worth and extra $20/month, non-smartphone is the way to go and this is pretty nice.

Speaking of Mythic as a fun phone, sensitivity of the screen is a major problem. The screen needs to be pressed hard for it to recognize the touch or the motion of your finger. In addition, there are some icons in the menu that you just can't get rid of( for all of the additional services) and that is annoying because it makes your menu bigger and more clogged than it should be. That seems to be characteristic of everything these days, though.

Also, it doesn't seem like you are able to adjust the images for the screensaver. The phone just cycles through its pre-programmed images that some of them are just immasculating... haha

Mythic is a good phone for those who like touch phone with lot of entertainment. This is not good for business purpose but for fun.Phone is loaded with everything you can think of ,smart messaging, 2000+ phone book , 198 MB internal memory,E-mial , IM, Social netwokring, mobile TV . Its very easy to use. If you are really looking for a phone of entertainment this is a really good option. This is not iphone but has everything like.Light weight is a add over iphone , you will hardly notice its weight as compair to iphone.
i am using and finding it full of entertainment.
Catch : Do not compair with iphone or go buy iphone. this is simply a good phone without compairision. Iphone is a phone in every hang but this one is lil different with a lot of feature.

I will rate it 8.5 out of 10

This phone SUCKS!!!! Cheep version of IPhone 1)Extremely insensitive screen makes it impossible to browse the internet and word documents. 2) No option to lock icons on the main screen, often they move around and disappear by itself. OS needs work!!! Half of the programs and pictures are locked (at&t) and can not be deleted. Call quality is good. I've had some issues with reception (today in the basement my Mythic phone had 0 bars and Nokia with att had 4 bars)Battery life is not an issue. on the average day i use 2 out of 5 bars of the battery indicator (some calls and nonstop music) . Funny thing to mention, my mythic just rebooted by itself. I've had mythic for a week, I hate it.
