SGH-C 170 is beyond modding. So FORGET PC-link cable-kit and FORGET software and quit the nag. Period.
Probably that's why it is one of the most favored phones with top level government employees who work in a fool-proof and full-proof environment that includes "classified materials".

I've just got this phone but I find it pretty hard to configure it because of the lousy manual there comes with the phone.
I would like to know if it's possible to have the phone ringing and vibrating at the same time? And is it possible to make the phone completly silence so it won't ring or vibrate?
Neither is there any information about the software you can download and how to connect the mobil phone with the computer so you can transfer from the computer to the phone or the other way around.
If anybody can answer some of my questions or tell me where I can find the answer to my question I will be very happy.

Can anyone please inform me how can use the speaker phone facility of the phone?? ?No were in user manual it is mentioned. I bought this primarily for speaker phone

Please be extremely careful while using *# commands. Or else, as an average user you might end up with a malfunctioning device.
Just don't experiment with a finely "lubed" smoothly working phone. It's a phone for crying out loud. Not a lab-animal. PLEASE.

I bought it 2 months ago. So far it works great! I really like this phone. It is kind of basic one but it has everything what is necessary. 3h of talking is far enough for me. Stand by time is about 5 days with 30-60 min of talking time. The problem might be in uploading pictures and mids to the phone - u need to create own wap site to download ring tones and pictures u want. What is bad? For sure quality of the polyphony and lack of programmable numeric keys. There are also some limitations in customization but I can bare it all for about 70$ price in Poland with 2 years of warranty.

The factory set password for all SAM phones is 00000000, i.e, 8 0s.
N.B: If you reset the EEPROM full or custom, the changes in passwords also get reset. Try to avoid full EEP reset as you might mess up your IMEI.

Theere is no enough instructions on how to use the phone e.g I can not set phone security settings because there is no where indicating the default factory password to start with. Antitheft featurre is also not possible to set without having the original password ussually indicated as 0000 or 1234 in other phones. Please post a user manual not a quick start guide that we have.

this phone is ok.. looks wise, but its messaging is below average, nt so good...i mean its bad...only looks wise coz its slim n black colour is better than any colour..every girl frnd of mine complemented this phone coz of one reason only...its looks..!!

Hi! great phone!!but cant set our own ring tones!alas if only Samsung would allow us to set our own choice ring tones!!!

After having seen the phone, iwould like to buy it. I have already Samsung Sgh 500i.But the opinions, and the simple features of the phone tempt me tobuy it .I WILL Again write my opinion after some time.

HI! got this phone a week back--the best thing is that the nine keys work as short cuts!!!press Menu then any one key from 1 to 9 to quickly get inside!---the call reception is excellent---the FM radio is amazing!! there is one user short cut and i made it into the Calender- great color (Maroon/red) ---re: the query that Samsung displays get black in time-i think it will happen to any phone if it is dropped on the ground often--like my calculator screen has turned black from being dropped on the floor!!

this phone does not have ring tone download???not sure--the literature supplied is poor with practically no info on how to use the set!!there is voice record for 30 sec--OK i recorded a song , but i wanted to set it as my ring tone but cant?????!!!!!why is it so?
