There is a reason why the alarm do not work when the phone is off. When you are in a aeroplane and and your phone is off and you set the alarm, the signals may cause danger!!! Exelent phone!!! All features very good = Triban, bluetooth etc. Well done Samsung!

I just bought this phone yesterday....so far it still no problem for me...there's few thing i'm not satified is... the alarm wouldn't Alert when u turn off the phone, the message tone only can use the 10 tones that samsung provided, the up key is hard to press sometimes may be my finger is too big,

the contact list i can't find to display only the phone contact, because if i display from the sim card it take some time to load, same as the sms folder...the java game can't save the setting example after i set vibration off after i close the game and turn back on again the vibration set to on... i need to set it everytime i play the game.. a bit annoying.... my phone doesn't support chinese..sigh~ okie... that's all

Sorry. It was Gareth who I was quoting not Cantsleep.

In answer to my own queery I've got my Jabra BT200 working with the D500. It might go without saying but you ahve to 'reboot' the headset. I turned it off and then turned it on holding the on button and volume up at the same time (a trick Jabra told me). The blue light is then constant. This is when you go to the Bluetooth menu on the phone and search for the device.

I've just made a call to test t and it's fine.

No voice dial is a pain but I can live with it. The camera delay isn't great but again nothing critical. Overall I'm thinking I've gota decent little phone here.

Cantsleep wrote " It works with everything except using a headset and voice dialling."

The voice dialing I can live without but the bluetooth headset for me is a must. if this doesn't work then it's no use at all. has anybody got a headset to work with the D500? I've a Jabra BT200 and I need to get it connected as i need to use it for work.

this is the worst phone i have ever owned. First of all the 1.3 mega pixel camera, is not justified on the tiny screen so images on the phone suck. Secondly i have had problems with the blue tooth and mp3 player constatntly and samsung are unwilling to help. I will never use these phones AGAIN.

I have had my samsung D500 for 3 months, and for people wondering, the camera is great, although it takes a few seconds for it to focus. The second thing people are wondering is about mem cards - there is no slot for them. Third thing, USB connector - there is one, it's on the right side above the camera button under a slide cover. There is supposidly a cable out for it but it is scarce. The fourth thing, is that the video recording - it works, but isn't as sooth as a S700, and although some people don't know, it does support vid downloads. Picture qualiy - it's about as good as a cheap / midrange digi cam, and for people who complain about the S700 - it's about the same, just the d500 takes longer to take a picture. There are only two negative things about this phone - one is that it has no radio (S700 does) and when using the MP3 Player, it doesn't seem to support some types of bitrates, although 128kbps is fine and sounds good too. Two last things about thos phone - the screen is the best i've ever seen on any mobile phone, although it's not as high res as a S700's it is just better and the last thing is about bluetooth - It works with everything except using a headset and voice dialling.

the samsung website says " Synchronize your data with the D500 in seconds. Bluetooth, USB and SyncML DS make it easy to connect to other phones" so i guess there is a way to use usb

If I wanted to watch a video, such as an episode of friends, would I be able to send it to the phone? If so, would I have to use a certain file format such as mp4? Also, what software is available for converting the file format of a DVD or other digital video formats?

                              Cheers.

(To the people asking about length of video time) You can unlimit your record time by simply changing the size under 'record video' settings. Recording mode-Normal. Size-QCIF(176X144).

First impressions is it's a decent little phone. The delay in taking a pic is a pain though. It's the best part of a second between pressing and the pic being taken.

Also I can't find if you can assign tones to contacts. Hopefully you can. I read somewhere that it doesn't have voice dial either which is a pain.

On a plus side it syncs with my IR and I've managed to upload a video to it. If you do this though get a 3GP converter. The files are so much smaller and work better.
