You can actually watch the video on the phone can't you? i read that it doesn't have video playback, but does that mean just for downladed videos? And what is the maximum length of video clip... before i buy this phone!

I purchased the phone thinking that it was a small 1.3 mega pixel camera. It is. But, if you're comparing it to the Sony-Ericsson S700i - it's weigh below par. The picture quality on the SGH-D500 is very amateurish. Even at high resolution photo settings. SOny have way more experience in Digital Photography than samsung.
Also, you CANNOT (REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYONE SAYS) synchronise this phone with outlook. It won't work. Synchronisation, for me, is defined as the exchange of data between one system and another. You'll have to either enter a large part of it manually, or do some kind of manipulation. The samsung D500 sorts all the names by LAST NAME. Most phones sort by FIRST name. It shouldnt be concerned with LAST or FIRST, but you'll have to see. You purchase the phone over the s900 as its way smaller, but then they give u this silly speaker thing to add on? Why? U dont wanna carry around with u bulk??

If the choice were between the Gx30i and the D500, what would one prefer? I am debating the choice. One thing about the GX30i is the limited (100k) blue tooth data transfer that I am concerned about? Had trouble moving my phone book. Any one have issues like that? Any help would be great.

To answer my own questions.
1. 14 hours I'm told. Surely this should be in the manual. It's not just Samsung but Sony Erricson were the same with my last phone.
2. USB cable will be released (UK) at the end of the month/next month which is why there's no mention of it in the manual.
3. Didn't ask about this.

I've just taken delivery of the D500 and have three questions.
1. Initial charge. Should that be 12 hours or have batteries improved of late as all the manual says is it takes 90 minuts to charge.
2. USB. No mention in the manual (although it does on the out sleeve around the box) or on sites as to how to connect via USB (I presume it's the same socket as the headset/speaker). It would be seriously helpful also to obtain a cable from somewhere.
3. The manual mentions a 'travel adapter'. Presumably this is a fancy way of telling me I've got a box standard charger.
Cheers for any help.

I bought this phone earlier this year for B$1200, though I heard from a friend you can get this for S$700 in Singapore! Not a bad phone on the whole, just that it takes a little while to get used to esp if you have been using Nokia phones for ages. Space bar and caps are a real pain! But the camera features are awesome!

My d500 allows me to set vibrate and then ring. So although doesn't do both together is close. You'd have to be working in a very noisy place to not hear this phone ring.
Excellent phone - best I've had.
