As far as I know the infrared on previous Samsung phones was not able to exchange data between any brand of phones because there was no option to send. The D500 can exchange data using infrared wit any phone brands now, I think it is the only one for now. Thats why it is such a huge step forward for Samsung.

The Samsung D500 is currently out of stock with O2 Online because Samsung havent made enough handsets for the UK market. Along with delivery cock ups it is proving to be a pain, Samsung offically have been waiting for the bluetooth era to kick off in this country before they released it, careful marketing there but not O2 Onlines fault for not being in stock. Should be back in stock to sell on the 2nd February

This phone is currently going for 100 euros in the UK, 530 dollars in the US (imported). It's expensive, but it's well worth it. This phone will be released in the U.S. in the silver color sometime in 2006. Most likely under the name D500e, as the US carriers enable EDGE. Cheers.

I’m looking at buying a D500 as it looks great and has had quite good reviews the only thing putting me off (as stupid as it sounds) is the T9 predictive text, on previous Samsung’s I have never been able to add words (slang words, place names etc) to the phones dictionary which is a real pain when using predictive test, does anyone know if you can do save words to the dictionary on this phone?
