i'm satisfied with the fone but the only drawback is that the sound volume is too low and battery life could be improved but apart from this it's a god and cool feature,a also i like the browse file feature through bluetooth that alows u to look through someones file through bluetooth

I have had since phone for 4 months and i love it! It has all the latest applications, its user friendly and best of all it is light weight!
if i had to say one bad thing it would be tht the keys are quite small thus hard to press but otherwise i would certainly advise one to buy it...

SGH-D500 has the marvelous camera, beautiful sound, even greater display...
But, it has the stupidest software I have ever seen on a mobile phone.
                For example:
You cannot add an number or e-mail adress from SMS to a phonebook entry (a feature supported by even the lowest end NOKIA models), you can only save it separately. The writing of SMS is much more complicated than on any NOKIA model, especially when entering symbols, you cannot add a phonebook entry to a message, etc...
ONE OF THE MAJOR DISSADVANTAGES: You cannot copy your phonebook from phone to SIM card, only other way around, as if the SGH-D500 is the only phone you'll ever have for the rest of your life. And what if you accidentally damage your phone? What about your phonebook?
Another thing... Calendar/planner: annual entries alarm doesn't alarm you at all, only one beep, and that's it, and if you try to enter a new entry on the same day of event, you cannot set the alarm on if the alarm time has passed! Stupid or what? One more thing, considering ringing volume profiles... THERE ARE NO PROFILES! The only settings are: Melody, Vibration-then melody (not simultaneously!), and silent mode. Very poor comparing to even cheapest NOKIA phone.
All and all, I'm very dissapointed with this phone (except for maybe two or three features (mp3 player, downloadable games, and photo taker), but I'm using it only because I've payed it pretty expensive, and can't afford to smash it to pieces.
I think the only worst phone on the market is Motorola C-450, which is a story of it's own.

The features are cool. I bought this phone last year and for about 9 months i really didn't have a problem.

But thereafter, the phone started to automatically restart itself... this more often happens when reading sms s, or sending an sms to more than one recipient...

but overall for the picture and sound quality i'm extreemly satisfied with the phone

                        this phone is unreliable -_-
i purchased this phone back in May '05 and the screen went out just 2 months later! all i did was hang up by sliding the phone down and it just went white! i took it back to the store and they said the screen blew out and it would cost about $100 for a new screen. i tried claiming warranty through samsung but the phone is from the UK (i live in the US) so they would not accept a claim outside of the UK! so, i tried samsung USA but they do not support an imported phone. samsung is no help at all... does anyone know where i can get the screen fixed for under a $100 in Southern California? i'm not even sure if it's worth fixing (but i am still considering fixing it vs. buying a new phone), because after searching the posts, it seems this screen has gone out on quite a few people. what if i get it fixed, and it just happens again? i recommend consumers to find a better phone. this phone is not worth the risk at the price it costs to buy/fix the phone...

Iv had this phone for just under a yr now due for an upgrade soon-just wanted to tell anyone n evryone that this phone has been great-i really do love it n will have to console myself by gettin its upgrade the d600 which is virtualy same phone just a better camera among other things slightly different, but going back to d500, i cant complain about it much, just cant see what time (and date for that matter) someone has sent me a txt or when i have sent one and want to check wen i sent it i cant. Also camera isnt the best around but still does the job n was good enough for me. the flash on it btw worked a treat. I also loved the video, even though the quality isnt amazing (if u want to record good quality get a a proper camcorder!!!) Pending on your memeory u can record for 90 mins. I recorded a live show i was at n playback wasnt amazing but my d50 did the trick n i can always relive the moment, out it on comp now aswell, mp3 is good, i chose to download using bluetooth but u can also do it va usb cable, by bluetooth i downloaded songs n changed them everynight b4 work, sound quality was excellent n i was able to hold about 15 songs which was perfect for my journey to work!!
ive rambled on and could for longer but not goin to defo recommend this phone to anyone, looks good n has lots of cool things. rating 10/10

Firstly - WOW! What a great phone. I think the ratio between good and bad reviews speaks reems so it's kind of pointless repeating the obvious raves like the memory, styling, ease of navigation etc. However, I've read some of the previous reviews with a mixture of agreement and sheer surprise. Complaints about the standard of photos and vids ...buy a digi camcorder (but it wont make phone calls so no doubt some of you will complain about that!). Then there's the few dubious comments about the speaker, the best has to be the person who asked what it's for - maybe take a wee look at the instructions; even as early as page 9 should give the game away as it's described as a "plug in speaker". I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that my phone has added functions, so why is it I have a built in speaker as well as the plug in? I assumed it was a standard function but obviously not going by some of the "...it should have..." comments. I suppose for listening to MP3's the plug in is slightly better quality but for general hands free use, the built in speaker is fine. Someone else seemed to think it doesn't have an IrDA port but I wonder if they actually got a little confused as to what phone they were reviewing. Oh yes, and the comment about the headphones not suiting a particular person...go and buy another, more suitable set then - they can't suit everyone and at least something has been provided for instant use. The supplied headphones wouldn't be my 1st choice but they work if needed in case my bluetooth headset vapourised mysteriously. For anyone out there thinking of getting the D500 and utilising these reviews for an informed decision, then go with the majority - it is a great phone and does exactly what it says on the box! However, if you want to use it as a full time MP3 player, then maybe buying an MP3 player would be a better alternative. If you want to be the next Spielberg or Lichfield, it may be best that you buy a camcorder/camera. Finally, if the D500 screen isn't big enough for you, may I suggest you go out and purchase a plasma TV from an electrical retailer. Sorry if this sounds like a rant but please, why complain about things that are never going to suit everyone? Better still, get to know your phone's capabilities before commenting on them - you never know, reading the instruction book might just help familiarise you with the layout and functions. P.S. I am neither an anorexic or newborn but I am able to use the keys effortlessly (but it doesn't do the ironing so maybe I will have to conceed it's a rubbish phone... I think not!)

When i turn it on the screen on my fone is pure white and i cannot see anything on it. It has done this to me before (3 times over 5/6 months) and i had the same problem with the e700 resultin in me buyin the d500. it did correct itself last time (fingers crossed)but does anyone know why it does this and how to sort this??

P.s. Its not just my fone, someone i know had this happen to them (d500 and e700)!!

Oh, also a couple of other little gripes - the keypad has a raised edge to it which makes it more difficult for larger fingers to use. You cannot get vibrate & melody to run at the same time - it starts with vibrate for 2-3 seconds, then melody @ a low level with no vibrate for a few seconds, then full volume after that. The slider appears pretty durable but if you have it in a tight pocket it's almost impossible to remove without operating the slider which answers the phone straight away. Camera quality is not bad - the lens is hidden when closed (a bad point on the D600 where the lens is in the main body & is easy to accidentally cover when using) - works well in low light. Sound quality isn't great, even with the funny little add-on speaker provided - I also have a Nokia 6230i which sounds far better. You can set up the keys for different shortcuts but the choices don't seem very logical - have yet to investigate this fully though.

Had the phone about a week now & reasonably happy with it. For those asking, to download pictures, tones etc. to PC you need the USB cable (with it's installer software) (simpler than bluetooth or IR) and the free software available on Samsung's site - go to Samsung.com look under support & you just need to put in your phone model no. & it will guide you to download for Samsung PC Studio PIMS.

Only a couple of gripes - I don't appear to be able to assign different tones for messages - only the 10 or so already installed. Also texting defaults to ABC input & you have to reset it to predictive texting each time it's used.
