Had the phone about a week now & reasonably happy with it. For those asking, to download pictures, tones etc. to PC you need the USB cable (with it's installer software) (simpler than bluetooth or IR) and the free software available on Samsung's site - go to Samsung.com look under support & you just need to put in your phone model no. & it will guide you to download for Samsung PC Studio PIMS.
Only a couple of gripes - I don't appear to be able to assign different tones for messages - only the 10 or so already installed. Also texting defaults to ABC input & you have to reset it to predictive texting each time it's used.

I like this phone but there is one feature that I am unhappy about...when I receive text messages it does not give the date or time in fact both received and sent. HELP!

samsung d500 is the best phone in the world even though it quite old now. If you push it a bit it slide up automatically. It is a quite comfortable phone. It has also bluetooth mp3 player cool games.

i have T-mobile and i noticed that when i tried to connect on the browser it doesnt work, then when i went to the profile settings i noticed that everything was blank. does anyone with Tmobile know what im supposed to fill it out with? if you know please just send it to my email (remyxma@gmail.com) instead of replying back on here. Hello can someone please help me!
I bought an USB cable to transfer music onto my D500 MP3 player. I go onto windows media to copy to device and its not on there like any other MP3 player would be! Please help me Im really stuck :-(

do not buy this phone! i had nothing but bother with mine from the day i got it. now got a cute vk570. much better and much less expensive

If you go to the o2 website and go to help and enter your mobile number they will send the setting directly to your mobile

hei guys... I know this might be funny question... I will buy a new phone soon around another one week.. I prefer D500 or E730... Z500 I cant afford to buy LOL.. okay as I could see so far.. as D500 got lot user complainin about the screen after few months using it.. which it makes me worried..
The specification of both phones (D500 and E730) are almost the same.. maybe E730 got radio that makes it better..
About design, D500 design really attracts me.. but so do E730 coz both of them got own unique.. its slide and the other is clamshell.. so its doesnt matter.. I accept both design
Okay overall... anyone would like to suggest me between E730 and D500... Please let me know ASAP.. I really appreciate u guys kindness...

Whilst having some excellent features including an awesome camera and large memory. this phone is very limited in features like setting different ringtones for different people and using MP3 ringtones for Message alerts. My main problem was the major difficulty in typing sms's as due to it being a slide phone, the keypad has a rim around it which makes messaging extremely difficult and uncomfortable. I got rid of mine for a Motorola V635 muuuuuuch better!

I am a phonaholic means . i change my mobile phone atleast 3 times a year, i had almost 12 phones in past 2 years, anyway i have the D500 for almost 8 months now, i bougt it unlocked and using my T-Mobile, which T-Mobile as always helped me set it up for nagvigating email, web browsing and others, yes T-Mobile Have the best cutomer service,
i love my D-500 and i being temted to change it with a deferent phone, and i am had doing my homework and comparing, up coming new phones here in USA or overseas, but there is nothing close to this great D500. so for now i guess i will still useing my Samsung D500, my other option might be Nokia N-91??? MMMMMM>>>?? still undicided.

Black is BETTER!!! mine was on o2 paid 65beans for it is unlocked now,, crackin phone love it wel worth the money

Hey there Matt, about being able to use your Cingular internet on your D500. I bought my husband this phone in April this yr and Cingular was just as useless at helping me with the all the server info for my phone as what they were when I 1st bought my 6230 July last yr (till they, themselves started carrying the phone). What i can suggest though is if you have two sim cards or borrow someone elses and put it in your old Cingular phone and basically copy those settings onto your D500 word for word. I did the same for my husbands D500, copied everything over from his old 6820 and it worked perfect till it fell in a tub full of water!! Good luck!
