    Of cource you can put MP3, MIDI, AAC and MMF for ringtones. As Mel said, read the manual. Almost all of the specifications are explained.

      sorry for askin coz D600 users may have received such Q b4 but can we put mp3 songs as ringtone?? thanks for the help..

        I will try to give an answer to these questions. The point of upgrading software is to fix program errors and bugs. Newer versions have some software improvements and bug-fixes. As I stayed before (if you look back some pages in opinions), I also own a Samsung D600, but it doesn't work properly maybe due to software bugs. I've returned it to seller for repairs.
        The letters and numbers in the software version (after D600) encodes the date of software release. If I have to be honest, I am not exactly sure about this.

          MLKIDS Are you sure that you exactly enter *#1234# (star-sharp-one-two-three-four-sharp) and then press call button? This response goes from gsm network, not from your phone.

            you can put privacy on the messages and most other features on the phone you can also set the the sent sms to auto save. what is the point of cutting down trees to make manuals if noone reads them

              Could parto f my problem be i have a phone that doesn't have all the internet settings set up correctly. When I first got it, I shared notes with lots of people who didn't know how to set their phones up to get the internet.

                  MLKIDS you have to enter *#1234# and then call button. This will show you the firmware version of your mobile.

                    I'm confused about entering the #1234#.

                    Do I do this from a blnk screen, and then hiy the call button? More details please.

                        Is there actually any point to upgrading the firmware, what advantages would there be?

                        Also does anyone know anyway to make the phone ring and vibrate at the same time?

                          The last 2 digits of the firmware version usually contains K,A,or J. Any one know what those letters stands for?

                            I saw some people asked for some software that coverts any video format to 3gp or mp4. I run over something on the net. The software is called pvAuthor made by PacketVideo. Try out this page http://www.softonic.de/ie/31624/pvAuthor
                            A little note. When you use AAC format for audio and when you upload you 3gp file to the handset, you may get an error message like "unsupported file format" or something else. Don't mention it - just rename the file to .mp4 instead of .3gp and it should work fine :)


                            Upgrading firmware of the Samsung D600 is very complex job. There are some programs for this but pals, if you are not experienced in doing such thing, don't try it!! Damaging the current software will make your phone unusable (it is reparable) and the warranty will fall. I am not sure but the latest firmware version is D600XEEK2 (October 2005). You can see it when you enter *#1234#. No other software excepting Samsung original firmware is supposed to work. I don't have information for someone who has installed a Symbian or Windows mobile on D600 regardless of having the same processor like Nokia 6600.

                                WisoBe, try out this: write your note like a simple SMS message and save it to drafts. I think that it is a good way to store a simple text. I don't know whether there is an other way of doing it. There is no application or something like this.

                                  Hi,

                                  I wanna know if there is a limit for the TransFlash memry card? Websites are telling the maximum card is 512MB and others tell it is 1GB. What's true ?
                                  Second question, is there a way to just write a simple note without having to go to the calendar ?

                                      Hello friends. Here is a tutorial for installing java on your Samsung D600. I found it on a forum. I've tried it and it worked. If you have any questions, e-mail me at ivo1st@dir.bg. If you cannot find thise softwares on the net, I will send them to you.


                                      1. Install and run SoftickPPP. When you get to the configure USB Share mode, choose the exclusive mode, (the software was intended for palm users so ignore & dont worry about any errors it gives you) DO NOT RUN YET

                                      2.On your d600 go to "menu\applications\java world\options\network settings
                                      In the "APN" box type "internet"
                                      Leave both LOGIN ID & the PASSWORD boxes empty. Finaly disable the proxy settings & SAVE

                                      3. Connect D600 to computer via USB cable and make sure is connected (Run the software you get with the fone to see if its connected but DONT leave it running while you use SoftickPPP) once connected run SoftickPPP it will appear as a running task on the tool bar, right click it and select "SETTINGS" then select the "BLUETOOTH/SERIAL" tab at the top, if the fone has connected propery it should have "COM7 \Device\ss_mdm0" with a box to tick, Tick that box & push OK

                                      4. right click SoftickPPP icon in toolbar again an select "ACTIVATEPPP"

                                      5. Run uploader.exe an add your jad file into it

                                      6. On your D600 enter the code #*536963# to enable serial download (push C to leave that screen when done)

                                      7. Enter code #*5737425# into your D600 to enter the download menu then select "PPP UP" and on the next screen select "USB" on the next screen select "SERIAL DOWNLOAD"

                                      8. If you have a firewall you have to let uploader.exe & SoftickPPP have access to the internet

                                      9. Once you finished enter the code #*536961#

                                        I just went over the process, u may need to do some change in the java setting in ur fone. Looks really really complicated and risky. Without java it is a wonderful fone already, I dont recommend u to do any change to the fone...-_- Those guys who have done this are really experienced and they started doing this kind of stuff since samsung was founded....
