To Gianni: The D600E got Edge and it's Tri-Band. But for the rest it's the same.

D600 is a great phone overall as are SE phones but accept no phone is perfect and stop griping will you ?

Yes the phone book displays SIM and Phone memory entries all together -as ' a single entity' - as stated in the manual .
Yes it is annoying if you need to scroll fast,.
Yes ,the text input is exasperating .

And to the guy who said those people who post complaints are all kids- well you are wrong.
I am pretty well over the age limit lat tiem I looked and am a discerning cell phone buyer.

Samsung need to address the phonebook and T9 entry - it is very very irritating for those hwo use the phone and are busy .

w800i vs d600

if u want a superb camera with auto focus & macro mode,also a phone with heavy music then go with w800i.(512 included packege)

or if u want a superb camera(best in daylight condition ) without auto focus & macro mode,extreme video quality(mpeg-4) with 20 fps,3d surround sound with dual speaker,tv output feature,great internal memory 90 mb(but no card included),low budget then go with d600.

w800i :
what i liked :

1.superb 2 mpx camera with auto focus & macro mode
2.music qulity & equiped headset.
3.great battery life (li-poly)as a good music phone.
4.it has rds radio.
5.blutooth version 2.
6.has infared

what i desliked :

1.no edge
2.not stylus than d600.
4.less internal memory(34 mb) than d600.
5.not a symbian phone.
6.can't read office document (a lil confused abt that)
7.high price as a non symbian phone.

d600 :
what i liked :
1.if u want a superb camera(best in daylight condition ) without auto focus & macro mode,***(if u take 50 pics in random situation 10 pics will be blured or out of focus.rest of the pics are superb)
2.extreme hi-res video quality(mpeg-4) with 20 fps,rival of n90.
3.3d surround sound with dual speaker,
4.tv output feature,
5.great internal memory 90 mb(but no card included),
6.has edge (d600e only)
7.picsel viewer for office doc and .pdf.
8.more stylus than w800i
9.briliant display.
10.supports pictbridge.
11.mini usb port (which can be used as mass storage)
12.low price than w800i

what i disliked :

1.no aouto focus & macro mode.
2.poor battery life than w800i.
3.micro sd card (1 gb. is rare & 2 gb is impossible )u should be satisfied with 512 mb card.
4.not a symbian os (picsel viewer can slightly fills this lackege)
5.does not vibrate & ring simultaneously.
6.no radio
7.no infared
8.only 2 intregrated themes.
9.u should be worried about it's sliding mechanism,d500 has some bad records.
10.poor flash ,u can use it as a tourch light only.(it should be like n70 flash )
11.poor pc studio software.

thats all

now decide urself.
but i ll suggest u to buy d600 if it doesnt matter auto focus & macro mode to u considering the price level.

if u still keen to buy w800i then my advice is ,buy the nokia n70 according to nearly same price level.n70 can fullfill ur all desires except autofocus,macro mode & DUAL specker.afterall its a symbian phone.symbian is boss for ever.

I have had the d600 for around 2 - 3 months now, i have had no problems with it. I think all the complaints in the section refering to the d600 are from young kids/students who prefer all the little useless extra's that mobile phones can offer. I must remind all you that a phone was created for you to make/recieve - calls/text. I suggest all young ppl looking at this phone to get a sony erricson as samsung is more of a mature handset & please stop posting complaints. P.S sony erricson dont seem to be able to make a good quality handset with no faults due to the amount of handsets they have had to recall. Plus they had to team up with sony cos they dont know what they are doing!!

To mZxM,

It is very obvious you do not like the d600, you are only promoting the crap k750. First of all the restrictions you have indicated is only different to the restrictions of k750.

Restrictions of the k750 are at follows:

1. SMS alert cannot be set to silent or vibrate mode while your ringing alert and MMS alert are set to high volumes ringing modes and vice versa. That is unique customization.

2. k750 cannot vibrate first then ringing begins. Vibrate and ringing at the same time are for stupids.

3.k750 do not have sound willness, meaning you can have background sounds playin while texting, browsing the phone and going to menus.

4. k750 cannot read pdf, excel and word files.

5. and many others to mention.

I think you must stick with your k750 because you do not deserve for a d600.

Hi again.
A big thanks to everyone who replied to my dilemma (Samsung D600 vs Sony Ericsson K750).
Searching and reading from other places, it seems that someone should be worried more on "the restrictions of the D600 software (eg not being able to use the mp3 player in the background while texting etc, not being able to assign custom tones for messages, only two skins available..." etc rather than the "the quality of construction or performance" of the D600.
I have also read that the phonebook of the D600 is not the best out there.
It gives you dual entries (from the phone and the sim card) and you don't have the option to just see only one kind (so you will not need to scroll double entries). Is this really the case?
This sounds annoying...since I make a lot of calls everyday (therefore I greatly need a fast way to find entries) as well as txt messaging.
I must state here that I do not place great importance on the MP3 playing issues, since I would not spend battery life for listening to music - I may as well use my portable MP3 player.
Do you know (or have heard?) whether SAMSUNG is coming up with a new firmware for D600 (soon) that might solve the issues that we have been discussing?
I hope they do... not just for firmware but also for their PC Studio. The various online forums are full of questions and complaints on this too...

you did but now im having the problem. when it comes up the connection wizard it now says this may take a couple of miniutes but its not its taking ages ive got to 5000 seconds and just quit it
what can i do?

well actually i dnt face any probs connecting the fone so il be of liilte hlp......have u tried the connection manager?????open samsung manager and then go to file and then like click connection andd then click usb!!b4 all this u also need to install samsung mobile modem drivers from the cd!hpe i hlped

Hey i got the phone today pretty nice im loving the features but...
when i try and connect the phone up to my pc i cant i loaded up the software on my pc first then connected it with my phone nothing on the phone screen came up as did neither the pc screen.
PLEASE HELP me

how can anyone not get on with this phone its one of the best one i have ever owned. i got the k750i on saturday for a new toy but took it back as i found it crap. give me samsung d600 any time wow what a phone

To Abdul Rab: The option is not there, but i have seen it somewhere but i don't think it works it's not familiar to me. Don't play games on your phone buy a Xbox or anything else it's eating your battery-life, phone are not made for playing;)

Just My 2 Cents Though.

To Ian: Because the phone only support MP3, AAC, MP4, 3GP. I think you have put a WMW file or a other file into your phone. So look if it's a supported file!

i am trying to download music from my library and okline and when its downloaded it will not play, just comes up with message "unsupported file format"

To HotMyK: When playing the speaker uhu it's kinda normal for my ears no annoying background sounds. With the headseat it's like that you have a little more bass (3d) but 3d is off. But it's only my words it's better to hear it for your own, so you have the idea how it sounds.

wanna put ur phone in silent mode....just press the right hand bottom most button for 2 sec....same to exit from silent mode as well...
