Oh my god, have you compared those two phones? Click the Compare link on the left under the phone photo and compare the D600 with the Nokia 6111. The Nokia is such junk!! The screen resolution is 128 x 160 compared with D600's 240 x 320! The Nokia does not have any card slot, and just 23Mb memory, compared with the D600's 90Mb (ish) internal plus unlimited memory via the memory card! And the battery life is longer on the D600.
These phones are in totally different classes. Nokia is good at using cheap junky components utilising old technology to keep their costs down, then selling the phones at full price. I suggest you read the D600 review (the link is posted here somewhere).

I don't know whether to get this or the Nokia 6111? heard bad things about samsung phones tho (not had one before). I emailed samsung to see if this phone would have a FM radio and this is what they said " I'm afraid we have no definite information regarding the releasepattern
of the D600 at this time. We would ask that you keep an eye onour
website for any updates.
The handset should have an integrated FMradio, although we cannot say
100% as we do not have final specs at the moment" if it does have radio + the more powerfull camera will probably get this one - is the signal and battery life good on Samsung?

Macro mode refers to a mode that allows a camera to focus on objects that are very close, this is an optical feature and is different from digital zoom which is merely replicating and/or averaging pixels. There are so many great features about this phone, it is surprising that people care more about the camera stuff (on a phone!) than the other features. Anyone have any links to good quality photos taken from the D600? All the ones I've seen are very fuzzy and need to be scaled down to 1/16th size (400x300) before they look decent.
If you take photos with this camera and it allows you to scale the images down with good resampling, it will have very decent (small) images to fantasize over in the bathroom. Of course macro mode would allow you to focus very close-up to objects, great for those intimate moments, guess you won't be using this phone for that.

I saw the picture too. It's not fuzzy or dark at all.. Come on, sounds like you want a DLSR lens on ur phone.
Some ppl don't even notice the difference between a 2 megapixel camera and the phone camera, seriously.
I have a 3.2 megapixel Olympus camera that I bought years ago, and from the picture I saw I can't really tell which one is better. Ofcourse the Olympus digital camera has more functions and better quality.
But it really doesnt have a HUGE difference,
unless you're a DLSR user or a camera expert. People use the phone camera quite often and it is definately an acceptable quality.

No really, based on the photos everyone's seen, the camera quality is awful. 2 Megapixels is ample for good quality photos but the lack of a good flash and a small lens size limit this. Sure if you want to only take dark fuzzy photos of people's faces, then this phone is good enough for this.

nah, not really. the picture quality is not that awful. We're not professionals here.. most of the ppl take pictures of themselves or friends to post it on websites or to keep it or wutever.. and it really is not that bad. I think ur being too professional here.
D600 has digital zoom..
Video has digital zoom.. obviously that means you can use digital zoom when taking photos.

Then buy a good small digital camera (of which I would never use digital zoom).

August? No phone manufacturer ever releases it's models in all markets at the same time. We might see some of these appearing in Asia in July, with some countries still not seeing them for a few more months.

The quality of the 2mp camera in this phone is crap (compared with my Casio slim 2mp from years ago), and I would guess the movies are junk too. This is a phone. If you want to take photos and movies, get a good digital camera (my phone and 7mp camera both fit in the same pocket). As this phone uses Transflash/MicroSD you should be able to share a card between a camera and the phone.
