To Steph:
You only can personalize the ringtones with MP3. For text messege, you only can use the default tones in D600.
This phone has vibrate+ring, but first it vibrates 3 times and then it starts to ring.
Anyway, I think D600 is so much better than V3x, remember it has more resolution, TV out and a fancy desing.
Greetings!!

Hi I have the Motorola V3X and am considering getting the D600, can you please tell me does this phone have different fing profiles ie. silent, vibrate + ring, etc also can you use mp3 as ringtones and text tones. Last thing can you assign mp3's to peoples contacts so when they call or text you get a specific tone for them?

Would really appreciate an answer on this one as i like to have my friends listed with their own tones, thanks....

      To cipher.
Yes, it will increase, but not above 20%. I own D600 for 6 months and now I can listen to mp3 up to 3 hours. Someone said that it is better to use headphones when you are listening to music or you are talking.

hi guys, just wanted to know if any one is facing any battery life issue, got the handset 4 days ago & the battery runs out in a day (usage - approx 2hrs mp3 with headset & 30 mins talktime). Does the battery life of the handset increase after a few charging cycles ?

            To mikeyemd.
Try out these things.Go to Settings->Phone settings->Extra settings->Check Voice clarity and Save. Then go again to Settings->Sound settings->Extra tones->Check Connection tone, Alerts on call and Indicative tones. Save and try what will happen. If noting changes, go to settings again and then to Reset settings. Check All and Reset. This will reset and load defaults to all settings. Security code will be asked for. Default is 00000000 (eight zeros). About software versions. Till now I haven't found two identical versions. I will try to find out what does these numbers and letters mean after D600.

            To Sn00p16.
Yes, you can zoom in/out photos taken with the camera. But, they must not leave Photos folder. If you move them somewhere else, this function will not work. Videos can be played at fullscreen, but images cannot.

What can I tell you. I can compare something when I have it. I don't have Nokia neither Sonyericson. But I have seen pictures taken with these phones. See this page.

Here are some pics taken with D600, Nokia and W800. Make your decision.
Unfortunately there are many locked functions for customization. Why I don't know. But there are many advatages. Yesterday, I watched 300MB movie via TV-out. Very good quality and the frame rate was 25 fps. I am not sure what the frame rate is in video recording mode. As I see it is around 15-18fps. If light is good may reach 20-25 fps. I have to find out a way to measure it :)

            To Sherod.
As we see, most people experience this problem. It depends on variaty of reasons - network signal strength, battery activation, on witch band phone works and so on. Defenetly the battery is not so strong, but when the phone has too many high-tech features, it requires more power. My 3 years old old Motorola E365 still holds 4 days standby and 6-7 hours talking :))) And what is the conclusion: Don't buy high-tech gadjets :) I'm joking :)

            To Sineh.
No. You cannot see images at fullscreen. You can load them into phone's Image editor and you can process them (rotating, adjusting brightness, contrast and so).
You can upgrade firmware, but you cannot make it at home. I have tried but this work is dead. There are no offical flash programs and you have to use some hacked stuff which can damage your phone. I found only one program (not offical) but it could only use COM ports. The flashing process would take 7-8 hours. I haven't found any offical flash program. Changing/upgrading firmware may be done by offical technicans of Samsung. I know that first firmware versions are very buggy. I experienced this on myself. I was not ok with the phone until I had returned it for repairs and the technicans upgraded the firmware. After that no problems. I own this phone for 6 months.
I am from Bulgaria :) What about you?

The procedure called activation is as following:
When you get the phone from the shop its battery is not fully charged. Use the phone until its battery goes out.
Plug the charger and charge the phone for 12-14 hours. It is better to look when the battery indicator stops flashing, and replug the charger. It will start to flash again. After 12-14 hours charging, use the phone normally and when the battery is fully discharged, repeat again the procedure. This should be made 3 times. After that you can use your phone normally, and charge it until indicator stops flashing.

            Take care to everybody!
            Greetings and regards.

I got this phone just a few weeks ago, and instantly became the envy of my friends, “you pay $450.00 US fo a phone” is what I heard mostly, but I love it, and find it to be very functional, besides the 2mp camera, it’s just cool. So when I read on the internet that it was w good phone for a teenage girl, that didn’t go too well with me, since I’m a 6’-4” BLACK man, but I shake that off, I still love it. In the Guyana, we wouldn’t get to use all the functions, the network options are limited. But could someone help me out with something, the battery seems to loose power quickly, why is that? And if there is anyone out there that have problems with there phones, I need to know what to expect, cause $450.00 US is $90,000.00 Guyana dollars, and that is 1.5 times my monthly pay.

                        hello guys!

how is the samsung d600's video compared to the n70,n90,w900?

I heard it has a great video but no reviewer mentioned about the video's framerate and it'c quality compared to the other mobiles with CIF video

and how about the camera quality? how much better is it than the competition? they say it has a worse cam compared to the k750i but how much worse? is it to the point that it is no longer comparable?

how about it's cam quality compared to the n70 or the n90?

they say that for a while it can be a "boring phone" by that, does that mean we cant costumize the colors of the background etc?

coz im gonna upgrade the next 2 days soo

                        any help would be great

To Ivo, been great using the d600, i had it for the last 6 months, unfortunately, 2 months ago...the transceiver stopped working, i cant hear the person i am calling even the connection ring is also out. but when i used the speakerphone and / or the earphones, no problems were encountered.
Will try to send it to
Samsung as it is still under warranty but had to find time to do so.
Maybe you can help me on this matter?
                              thanks in advance.

                                To cal gary.
How to connect your Samsung D600 to you PC via USB cable.
In order to connect you phone to the pc, you have to install usb drivers which come with manifacturer's CD and reboot the pc. Next step is to install Samsung PC Studio 3. Reboot again for sure. If you have firewall installed, disable it or permit access to the Samsung PC Studio executables. It is better to disable it. Set USB Function to modem on your phone. Plug USB cable into your phone and your PC. Run PC Studio and select the connection type to USB. If nothing happens, then restart application. If you have an irc bot running, stop it. It prevents the connection. It is much easier, better and faster if you use bluetooth.

                                To KT.
I had too many problems (cold restarts, hang ups, camera problems) with this phone until they upgraded it with the latest firwmare.

                                To Kris.
San Disk is going to release a 2GB transflash shortly. But I don't think Samsung D600 will support it. It may work but it will be very slowly or may cause system failures.

                                To chantelle.
Ask seller's technicans to upgrade your phone with the latest software. I am not sure but the problem may be cause by hardware or software error.

                                To Sineh.
                                1. Yes, you can rotate the only images that are stored in Photos folder using Image editor (the phone has Image editor).
                                2. This phone supports only 3gp and mp4 video. You have to find software to convert into this format. DAT is not so popular as avi or mpeg/mpg. I can suggest you to use WinAVI MP4 Converter, but I am not sure that it may support DAT files.
                                3. I don't think so. I you cannot change the path. I am looking forward for a way to do it.

1- can we rotate(horizontal) the downloaded images or image that is taken with camera of the phone??

2- this phone can play DAT video files??
if it can't, that must convert to which format to be played with D600??
