tnx kal..so i think 30X36mm is fine..i myt get this one..W810 has 29X35mm but its screen looks bigger than D720..maybe it's really because of d design..by d way, where can we get themes?zedge & mobile9 dont seem to have themes for D720..

I did the measurement and here is the result:
Width 30mm (note its not 29mm) and height 36mm.
Diagonally its little less than 1.9"..safe to say 1.8".
The screen is protected under a glass surface which is actually measured at 36x44mm. That leaves plenty of spaces and may be thats the reason it looks smaller. Samsung could fit in a 2" screen here. I have seen same design under different model name in korea with 2" 320x240 resolution screen.

tnx kal..but it would be more helpful if u cud tel d actual physical size of d display (is it really 29X36mm)..by d looks of it, it cant be 1.9" diagonally..samsung's D500 is a lot bigger and it's only 1.8"..hope u can really measure d width & d leghth of d display (in mm)& tell it to us..tnx again...

First of all, there is a saying that at any given time Samsung's display is bettet than those of Nokia's. I haven't get any chance to compare it with other S60 nokis though.But Im happy with it.
Yes D720 has relatively smaller display. When it was developed, QVGA 240x320 display was not out there. I havn't get a chance to compare it with other models that you mentioned...however I did check it with D600 which is QVGA. Of course QVGA is better to look at. D720 has 1.9" display. D600 2".In D600 its all smooth you dont see any pixels. I belive its the design that makes the D720 screen looks much smaller than those of K750/W800i.
In terms of quality and brightness I loved the display. I didnt find any trouble. Of I found one more difference betweeen the "Chinese" and "Eropean' version:
The chinese version has regular samll front.. ..but the european one has same font but bold. Personally I liked the regular font..its samll but fits well on the small screen...and you can read a lot wohtout scrolling.
And lastly, Im not saying that the ringtone is in 'ascending", that is there if you want to select. It's just not loud for fast few seconds. then it plays whatever the volume level u set it for.
One more thing that I hate about. When you dial a new number..it comes in a BIG ugly font on the screen and in Rainbow clors. there is no option to manipulate it.
But at the end of the day its S60, so you can install a software and play around with the fonts size and colors.

i mean, 176X208 pixels.one more thing, i saw d specs in gsmarena, it says 29 X 36 mm.. however it doesnt look like bigger than d one in SE K750/W800i with 28 X 35 mm..hope u can tell us d real size of d display because it seems very small compared to D500/E720/E730 & how is d quality compared to W800i/D500?tnx again

hey kal..how is d display if u compare it with nokia symbian phones with 176X220 pixels (6600,3230,6630,N70,6680)??i know D720 has relatively smaller display but is it better than those nokia phones in terms of quality & brightness?mobile-review says d display is middling..and, r u saying d ringtone is in ascending mode always?like it's low in d beginning then becomes louder?i hate that mode..tnx..

Yes it does.
However like D600, for first few soconds the volume is quite low and hard to hear..after that it sounds normal.

Thanks Jed for sharing..would you please post where you found the info. Samsung already has a model Z700 and its Not slider or symbian. There are rumor that its been cancelled. Are they relaunching it as a slider smart phone???

ye i know about the adaptor but im on teh phone at least 2 hours a day and no its hard to hear me with the mic on the headset so i was wonder what the pin outs are so i can rewire lets say, a sony ericson headset for my phone. It would also help if someone could tell me how to open the headset so i can simply replace the mic.

hey guys, samsung will be releasing another symbian phone (v8.1 Series 60) in slider form factor.It will be called Z700, it supports 3G. It looks like D720 but with a bigger display. Here's d complete specs :

It's the same 10 pin port that samsung used in other models like D500/D600. All you need to do is to get a 3.5mm Stereo Audio Adapter and plug-in your fevorite headset.

As you guys know the headset for D720 and most of the samsung phones is absolute CRAP. I was wondering if anyone knew the pinouts for this 10 pin port or any clue how to make there own headset. Thanks

The speaker works fine for me. With headset its always better. I dont know why people pay $1000USd to get a brick size N91 to have a little better sound quality.Anyways I charge the phone every second day. The battery indicator has only 3 bar. So after 48hours of use it comes to one bar..and im sure it can last a little longer but I do charge it coz I dont wanna ran out of it. I carry the USb cable always..Good thing is you can charge with USb cable as well, just in case.
Anyways if u have any question do ask.I bought this becoz I wanted to have a symbian and all nokia smart phones are big and heavy and I love samsung design. Its perfect for me. Samsung hardware+nokia software.

tnx kal..do u have ym?so i can ask other things abt d720.i currently own nokia 7370 & i wna try D720, coz it's symbian & slider..i had 6630 b4 but it's bulky..how long does d battery last?and how's d stereo speakers?is it really loud & stereo?

Records .3gp in 352x288, 176x144 and 128x96 resolution. Frame rate is low for 352x288.Quality is not as good as CIF MPEG4.
Plays .3gp, .mp3, .mp4, .arm, .rm, .ram, .ra and .rv files.
Pictures can be seen in fullscreen by pressing "7", can be rotated to view in landscape mode.
Howevere video doesnt have fullscreen or landscape option. Same thing happens while taking picture or video. No landscpae or fullscreen.
