the easiest way to apply mp3 as ringtones is the file extension before u transfer it to ur phone. if u cannot see the file's extension, go to windows explorer, click on folder options under tools, click on view, scroll down to 'hide extensions for known file types' uncheck it, then click ok.
now u should be able to see the file extension. change the mp3 extension to 3gp. click ok when it ask u if u relly want to change it. then send it to ur phone.

@biLaL...you didn't change the extension you have changed the file name only. If you see just xyz wihtout any extension then you need to set your folder option to see files with extension and change it accordingly.

Otherwise go to MsDOS prompt and rename the file.

Why so many people asking the same old mp3 ringtone quaetion? Please do read a few other's posting.
I thought its been solved. before you transfer the file, rename the file xyz.mp3 to xyz.3gp and then you transfer the file to your phone and use it as ringtone.Simple. Or else you can use a free software to change the mp3 file format to 3gp, but you will loose some quality.

Anyways Its a great phone. I liked everything about it, except the rotary camera. I found it very loose and not stable. Is that happens with you guys as well and i just saw a bad one?

I was wondering if anyone knows if and when Samsung will give a download to update the bluetooth profiles to include the A2DP stereo output. I just purchased the new Moto stereo headset for bluetooth enabled audio devices...but later found out that the T-809 does not support it. Please let me know if anyone knows anything.

                          Thanks

Ok for all of you wondering how to get mp3's as ringtones, you dont convert your songs to .3gp because that loses song quality. You have to download a program called "Rename". In the program you can rename the file extension to .3gp for this phone to play mp3's as ringtones. Ive tried what everyone else has mentioned and this is the one way that finally worked for my phone. Just thought i'd let yall know

Is there anyway that i can use my own mp3's as a ring tone without having the DRM (digital rights management)? If not, is it possible to disable the DRM onto my t809. If the DRM can be disabled, can i then use my own mp3's as ringtones?

                                        jwong-

The MP3 ringtone thing is something that really should only affect the T809. The workaround of changing the .mp3 to .3gp is because T-Mobile has limited this feature in hopes that they can sell more ringtones. I am not sure, but I think the D820 should work the same as the D500/600 in this regard. I will follow-up once I get my T809 later this week.
