if the "stock" message alert sounds were not so incredibly annoying not being able to change them would not be a big deal.
how is a phone with a price tag like this not be capable of something so basic.
it's going back to where i got it.

Hi guys,
Please give me some inputs regarding signal strength of this Samsung D820/t809 phone. I heard quite a few people saying that Samsung phones are bad at signal strength. I"ve never used a Samsung phone before so I kinda need some feedback before buying one. Thanks a million.

reply to darklord: the t809 version has the same limitations as the e730 and other models regarding the message tones= you can only select the predefined samsung ones. i would suppose that the d820 version is the same since this seems to be a non-network related blueprint for samsung phones. the phone also has an indicator for missed calls and text mssgs but only when you have pressed a button to snap out of the screensaver will you see them. otherwise the screen is turned off and you wouldn't notice any missed action.

I am researching this phone as my next cell and have a question directly pertaining to the D820 (no molested by TMobile). Can someone show me the options under contact in the phonebook? The manual I found online lists an option for ringtone specfic to the contact, not Contact Groups. Also, how many contact groups are there?

Hi folks, just wanted to know from people who have this handset, can you assign any sound as message tone? or are you limited to the 10 preset crap as per usual samsung? Also when the phone is on standby, are there any indicators on screen as to a text or missed call... Thanks for any help ;o)

This phone has a nice display system, but the bettery could only work for 1,or2 hours it doesn't happen to all other SamSung Phones, great phone but can't set MP3 as ringtone, and the slider is not good as other SamSung slider phones, and the flip camera is hard to flip because when you press it to the slider closes up. therefore, the phone is all nice, but just not good enough for people real need a PHONE.

People like to compare it with RAZAR. I think slider phones are better because they are easier to handle. With RAZAR and other V-type phones you have to use two hands to open the phone or answer the call. With slider type phones it’s much easier – just slide the front panel up and start talking. Easy to use and no hassle.
Also I don’t understand why people are nagging about this phone. This isn’t definitely another trendy phone for teenagers who like to pay silly games on cell phone or listen mp3s all day. This phone is for gentlemen and matches well with black suit. It has sleek design, and expensive look
When we are talking about features, I think it’s perfect for everyday talk. Sound quality is excellent (two speakers and 64 channels), display is much better than RAZAR in matter of fact is best I’ve ever seen. No dust under the screen, no nothing…

i just bought this phone with tmobile, works great, one great feature about this phone is that it can set videos as caller id's. 1 major draw back though is that you cant set your mp3's as your ringtone or message alert tone. if anybody has any info about this, please post it...

Korea IS a leading phone production country, but there are many more countries ahead of it, such as Japan. Korea can also make good phones like Samsung, or extremely horrible phones like Innostream. Camera phones are getting out of style for Korea, but QUALITY camera phones are still very much WORSHIPPED, EVEN in Korea. About half Koreans don't like Korean phones, it's a proven statistical fact. This is a good phone.. but battery dies fast.

to InfinityEye.
You've mentioned that it will take some time before Mobile phones reach 3~5mp cameras...
Well, I would like to just to inform you that 8 mp camera phone has been released in Korea in CDMA type for quite some time now. Higher Megapixels don't mean that it will take better pictures. It will just take bigger pictures! not finer. South Korea is worlds leading mobile phone country, and in Korea, already camera phone are out of fashion, and rest of the world will follow shortly.

I assume Samsung though...well most phone numbers begin with 555 (afaik in America), so why look at it, but yea, it is a bit strange...

Are you kidding? No numbers begin with 555 in the States.
