ANOTHER T809 GLITCH - I have discovered a new glitch in Samsung T809 - suppose u have a number 555-555-5555 saved as XYZ in the SIM address book. Then you call 333-555-5555 or just 555-5555, then the Call Log will show XYZ as a previous call made. It seems to look only at the last 7 digits and not the entire 10. Whats the matter with it?? Anyone else see this error?

I assume Samsung though...well most phone numbers begin with 555 (afaik in America), so why look at it, but yea, it is a bit strange...

Why so upset about the camera. It will take some time before camera's on mobile phones will take decent pics. I mean, when you go on some holiday or a daytrip, I assume you take a (digital) camera with you too. It'll take some time before there are there are phones with 3-5 megapixel CCD's or Carl Zeiss Optics (Nokia N90 excluded)

How typical of Samsung. They purposely leave out one or two features from the previous models (down graded camera, no card slot).
With some other added features like (slimmer design=which looks good, etc etc).
This model is obivously for Mobile addicts who always require latest phones. Don't be fooled, this is a sacraficial phone, just to get rid of old stock parts like, 1.3mp camera, etc etc. It will not sell, let's wait till somethin like D900 (if it will be...) to come out. Which will have similar specs as V3x or D600.

"samsung and tmobile are idiots - they have locked out email client, no picsel viewer, no tv out, no java midlet network access and a bunch of other stuff besides the mp3."

I agree many of the options that MOST carrier phone have, are restricted by the carrier, why? I don't know.

I did it the slow way but if someone knows a quicker way to convert all at once that would be great!

I used Media Player, played the song that I wanted, use this: File>Save Media As> (Once you are here then name the file MAKE SURE THAT THE NAME IS LESS THAN 47 CHARACTERS OR YOUR PHONE WON'T READ IT! When you name the file name in this format SONGNAME.3gp I saved it directly to the memory card, but you can save it onto the computer and transfer it over. After that just go into the MP3 player and look at the options that say set as and there you go. You can also set the videos that you record as caller ids. Hope this helps!

No it is rename, not convert. you dont need to convert, just rename the file as a 3gp. samsung and tmobile are idiots - they have locked out email client, no picsel viewer, no tv out, no java midlet network access and a bunch of other stuff besides the mp3. this makes me so mad! i wish someone would hack the phone and find the hidden java menu. meanwhile if u want to enter the WAP or Browser network settings, type *#87927#. Also try *#8999*JAVA# for a hidden debugging menu. Finally try these-
                              *#8888# - H/W Version
                              *#9999# - Firmware Version
                              *#06# - IMEI serial number
                              *#VSWAP# - Swap WAP profile from Internet2 to Internet3
                              *#4777*8665# - another hidden menu!!!
Thanks. Post comments, suggestions and ideas here!

A Humble request to Samsung Marketing Team.

PLEASE GIVE THIS BABY A NAME.
It matters big time. Moto is doing a great business with their thin or music phone partly becoz they gave it a name...RAZR..ROKR....and the name spreads like anything. Its hard to refer a nice phone like this by Digits and Numbers to someone who have no idea what the new models are.
BRANDING is very Important to make it unique.

Why do you think SprintUSA picked up D810 and marketing it as Samsung "BLADE".
WAKE UP. This is the best slim slider...just need a name.

To the guy that couldn't connect it to the computer: If you go under USB setting change the setting from Mass Storage Device to Modem, when you do this and try to connect using the Samsung software it will recognize the phone, you'll see if it works almost right away because your computer will also recognize it and try to install drivers and such.

In terms of comparing it to the w800i, in my opinion the phones are good matches for each other. I had the w800i for about 2 months, and now I have the T809 for about 2 weeks.

W800i- GREAT CAMERA- (although if you use the night mode the noise in the picture is terrible and when you use the flash indoors the yellow factor in the picture is gross, the auto focus takes an unacceptable amount of time to take a picture.), MP3 PLAYER- (this was the greatest thing on the phone lol, everything was done exceptionally well with this aspect but I do have one complain, I have seen a lot of other people with this problem after you have music stored and playing on the phone/card it makes this terrible static noise when switching from song to song.), VIDEO- (you can play movies on this phone I was using a 1gb card but I stored like 12 movies and still had lots of space for music, the thing was that once you converted the movie into a format that the phone could play the quality dipped for the movie- add on top of that a small play window inside an incredibly small screen and you have something that not very good for playing movies outside of those that you actually take with the phone.), INTERNET- (I use T-Mobile USA and after about 4 hours on the phone with both SE and T-Mobile no one could figure out how to configure the phone with the proper settings there is nothing in their database about how to do this believe me I work for Customer Care, this was the ultimate factor that lead me to return the phone, I use my phone for many things but as evenly as making phone calls I like to check the news, movie listings, map quest, etc.), PHONE TO PC SOFTWARE- (this sucks, that’s all I have to say about that, if you’ve installed it delete it- it will slow down your computer as all Sony software does, it’s incredibly slow for no reason!), BATTERYLIFE- (this phone rocks! When it comes to battery life this phone is the $#^! I can play the mp3 player on phone on mode for about 20 hours and still have 25% battery life, my normal usage: phone calls, sms, mms, internet, mp3, video, camera, etc. it lasted about 12-15 hours and that’s if I used the phone constantly! INCREDIBLE!!!) RECEPTION- (the reception is great but I use the phone in Miami Florida USA so the reception here is always great meaning it’s rare for me to get less than 4/5 bars (unless it was during the Hurricanes) or 5/7 bars, for this reason I cannot tell you accurately how it would be.), EXTRA- (it’s tiny which I thought I would love but I really didn’t the screen was entirely too small for me and the white color started to turn different colors even with constant cleaning and never being dropped, other than on a bed during certain activities lol. All the other features that I didn’t mention either worked in a manner that wasn’t deserving of a comment or the problems that it gave me were not something that I would consider worthy of a comment.)

OK Now for the T809- GREAT CAMERA- (even though it’s 0.7 of a mp less than the w800i it’s still great, the only thing it requires is a steady hand but it’s A LOT faster than the w800i, when you first use the camera it’s kind of weird because everything on the screen is really dark at first (outdoors) or really yellow at first (indoors) the phone corrects this in less time than it takes for you find what you want to photograph, there’s no flash though.), MP3 PLAYER- (although it’s not as good as the w800i in terms of features, it does the job well and the dual speakers in the front are great especially for studying and jammin out at the same time, the phone is LOUD lol), VIDEO- (in terms of the small playing window it’s the same with the w800i, the only difference being that the w800i is by lack of screen space but the T809 has no excuse- it has a beautifully large bright and colorful screen.), INTERNET- (naturally this phone is great well because I got it direct from T-Mobile USA so it had all of the internet settings preinstalled, with the EDGE data speeds even better, but I cannot make an honest comparison because I was not even able to get online once with the w800i to test speeds.), PHONE TO PC SOFTWARE- (this is only the second time that I have used this type of software and to be quite honest both suck, I would suggest getting an adapter for the memory card (is you buy the t-flash they already come with an MMC adapter) and just plugging it into the computer for dragging and dropping what you want, unless you are trying to use it as a modem in which case follow the directions in the waaaay beginning to do that, I would suggest only to do that in a life or death situation because you might smash both phone and computer in frustration.), BATTERYLIFE- (that’s my only qualm with SAMSUNG is the terrible battery life of this phone, when you use it without the mp3 player it will last 10-12 hours, the mp3 player sucks up the battery life like a vampire, using only the mp3 player with a full charge and the screen in idle- the phone will only give you about 4 hours of play back and that’s pushing it, if your plans are to replace your ipod this is definitely not the choice, ok let’s take it through my normal day, (wake up 7.30pm fully charged- check messages::: studying 8.30pm-9.30pm- mp3 player::: work 10pm-7am- mix of mp3 player, camera, internet, messaging, and phone::: morning workout 7.30am-9.30am mp3 player:::: classes 10.30am-2.30pm organizer, sms, sometimes the camera (my profs like to blow themselves up in the labs) at this point the battery starts to beep low::: get home 2.45pm place it to charge and go to sleep.) so as you can see it’s good for a mix of things throughout the day, but I wouldn’t be able to use it as the mp3 player for more than 3 hours without dying during the day, oh yeah sometime if you use the mp3 player for the full time of the battery it will get hot but it’s normal.), RECEPTION- (the reception is great but I use the phone in Miami Florida USA so the reception here is always great meaning it’s rare for me to get less than 4/5 bars (unless it was during the Hurricanes) or 5/7 bars, for this reason I cannot tell you accurately how it would be.), EXTRA- (overall I have to confess I thought that SAMSUNG was a cheap useless type phone, but I was wrong- this phone is of excellent quality and it’s highly recommended, the slider factor is great and fits with the good build quality- 2 things about that the first if you use the phone a lot like I do the great thing is that most of the features can be used with the phone closed but if you do open the phone a lot you will notice a slight creak if you press on it a little- the other thing was the dust AAAAAAA!!! Just under the screen the dust will collect there and annoy the heck out of you if you have something dark on the screen, but it’s in such a small amount that you can ignore it or get used to it, All the other features that I didn’t mention either worked in a manner that wasn’t deserving of a comment or the problems that it gave me were not something that I would consider worthy of a comment.)

Well I’ll stop blabbing now and wait for the sharks…. Uh-uh I mean the people of the forum comment, lol.

WOW, i have went to several sites and reviewed what people have said. i think this in one of the best phones i've had. i've had the w800i and was not very impressed. although the camera feature on there was impressive. this phone is one of the only ones i know that can play whole movies! i have a 256mb card and put plenty of my favorite shows on it each day. it doesn't lag during play or stall! the resolution is awsome, comparable to a PDA or pocket pc. if you are interested in this phone get if for the movie play and mp3 not for the camera. the lens sucks on this! but that is not its best feature. most 2hr movies fit on a 256 card. on the same size you can fit 4 episodes of the office and 2 albums, or 2 episodes of smallville and 1 album. go to tmobile and try it out if you dont like it, you have two weeks to return it.
