    YARIK; FLASHING, I won't recommend you unless you have strong reason to do it and you are dead-sure that the new firmware version is updated in every aspect. What you need is a FLASH CABLE, not the data cable. Flashing will VOID ANY WARRANTY possessed by the phone. You may get some advantages but some other features MAY BE lost!! So be careful. you may visit phonetutorials.tk to see flashing instructions for D500 or click this link to see flashing of D820;

    So if you decide to go on, make sure that you can manage any possible crisis during the process. I'm no expert in this.

        YARIK; Connect phone and pc using cable and then in phone, menu..settings..phone settings..usb settings and change 'Modem' to 'Mass storage'. the mem card will be shown as a flash drive in 'My Computer'.

            MEGABYTE- No other themes.
            ..................................................
            (If I push the volume buttons while the phone "sleeps" displays the date and time. Is there a way to keep this instead of the black screen??)
            .......................................................
            I understand that you are now a little worried about the battery life. To see the time display always, means the display must be turned on all the time that consumes more battery power again. The battery performance already depends on the lcd brightness and duration of display.
            But everything has solution. Still you want a clock, and if battery consumption not at all worries you, then you can get a fantastic analog clock with 3 needles and date display and with many more features displayed on the screen UNTILL YOU TURN IT OFF. Download the java apps; 'infotime alarm clock'(download code 3320)& infotime black magic(code 10706). Its so easy if you have GPRS activated. Go to Menu-4-3 and enter url- wap.getjar.com and ok. select 'quick download'. on next page enter the download code given above . select 'download to mobile' and install.
            If you are using black magic, start the clock and press keys 1,2,3etc to see some magic!!
            Display will be turned ON in DIM mode.

                  Ive wanted this phone for a while, and used to have the d500 and bougt some software, but was dissapointed because it was not agreed to windows XP...

                                  To munch: Most of time singtel wont show some of the old phones on their website, you can try asking through the helloshop outside or just call them to ask for the price-their number is 1626,they always tell you the price :) However for what i know, if your line is not yet over, you would have to pay additional 100 dollar(if im right) to purchase a new mobile phone-which I personally think its a big waste of money.
                                  How about selling ur 6230 to your uncle as well as buying the D900 from him?

                                    KEVIN;
                                    No need of supporting softwares- The 'MOBILE GMAPS' is working perfectly in my D900. I could locate 1km around my house on my mobile screen, so far. And I'm trying to get closer.
                                    You can download 'Mobile Gmaps' from getjar.com. If your phone is wap enabled, you can try downloading via wap. go to 'wap.getjar.com' in the browser of D900 and select 'quick download' link and on the next page enter the code; 8938 then 'download to mobile' and install. But as this is somewhat large file(100kb) wap downloading MAY fail. In that case you will have to install via usb- visit phonetutorials.tk and follow the instructions on installing java through usb, carefully. You can download the jad and jar files to pc from www.getjar.com. Use the device filter to find suitable version for D900 and search for 'gmaps' to find. KEEP THE JAR AND JAD IN SAME FOLDER. If you are installing via usb, don't forget to type #*536961# and to clear the APN field of network settings in Java when you FINISH installation.
                                    .........................................................
                                    USING IT; 'enable wikimapia' from options. I advise you to zoom out first to maximum(5000 km) then find your country and gradually zoom in. You can zoom in even upto 30metres!! press ok/i button for zoom in/out and to select places. The annoying message 'Wanna send HTTP..?' will pop-up 100 times in a minute: Don't get mad :-D ... also i think, it takes a large amount of internet bandwidth- so have a look at the browsing charges also.
                                    Anyway, I am still learning how to make more out of it, like shortcuts, saving locations etc. please share your findings , that would be helpful to me and many others also.
                                    -regards, Rajesh.

                                      from sg: yup , but my dad told me to wait for my singtel plan to be up as the plan ends at dec. one thing, i checked singtel web and i cant find samsung D900. i doubt they have it. so i was wondering even if i am going to upgrade my plan and have this phone (if they have it), it would cost around $270++(i think). why not purchased it at this handphone shop near my house? what is your opinion?

                                      ps. singtel takes in nokia 6230 for $60. the uncle at the shop takes in nokia 6230 for $100
