DAVE: Memory cards issues have been gone through enough discussions here. Here are my conclusions from these:
      1. Only SANDISK cards are problem-free with this set
2.No problems have been reported from 1 GB sandisk users(me also)
3.But Samsung officially recommends only 512 MB(?)
4.Many people are using 2GB sandisk cards without complaint
5.complaints have been reported from 1GB/2GB users other than SANDISK
Now its up to you!(enter 1GB, 2GB etc in the search box at the bottom to read more opinions)

about how many mp3's is 2gb??

It can't be said exactly. But this information may help you: At normal bitrates i.e, 128kbps, an mp3 track will take APPROXIMATELY 1mb for 1minute of play. half mb for 1minute if bitrate is 64kbps and 1.5mb/minute if it is192kbps. For example, if you have a 128kbps track with 5min duration, it will be almost 5mb. This means that in a 2 gb card you can have upto 2000 MINUTES(not 2000 tracks) of mp3 if all are 128 kbps. But I'm not sure whether so much can be stored actually. there may be some limit

CARO. Tap in Keypad Tones at foot of this page and search previous opinions. Answer is there (many times !) You are stuck with the Samsung message tones on the D900.

ALI, Thanks for your valuable feedback. So the other process was to change the talk volume.(Anybody trying these methods is hereby cautioned that these are not officially recommended)
Regarding the BATTERY PERFORMANCE, I also agree that the battery back up is not great. You can reduce consumption to some extent by reducing the lcd brightness, volume, minimal use of vibration mode etc. The battery gives maximum performance only after a number of full discharge&recharge process. Wait till the 'low battery' warning b4 you recharge and recharge untill it is full.
But actually i never feel the battery problem bcoz I'm using a second (genuine)battery and a Samsung EXTERNAL battery charger.( I got these in the pack itself) So there is always a fully charged battery. More over the battery is better charged with an external charger rather than with the phone. It is a very good option, if you don't mind spending a little more.

Rajesh - thanks for your help. Changed the settings as recommended by Melscott (i.e changed the ear gain setting from 13 to 15. This has definately made an improvement and hasn't changed the earpiece volume just the ringtone volume. Some of the MP3's are a little echo'y but most are ok. Would definately recommend it.

oh, & in addition to my earlier comments, if you are looking to buy the red d900 it's more of a matt wine colour! the d900 feels very plastic & cruchy, its difficult to text as your hand catches on the bottom of the phone have a look at one before you buy & you will see what i mean it makes your fingers ache & some of the comma's on selection are difficult to access i.e. ''' this comma cant find easily so have to use ,,, this all the time all samsungs same!

Hi, reading all the comments, as i'm havin probs with my D900 red also, it keeps freezing, the battery life is really bad, & when using bluetooth i.e. headset, it's worse, also things i have stored to my memory card from my old handset i'm unable to access most of the time, cant assign your own message tone & i'm having trouble with recording videos i cant seem to save them to phone it shows as memory full & as memory card playing up cant save them to that either! also camera quality not very good especially when zooming in it becomes very distorted to the extent you cannot meke out facial features! had phone only 15 days would reccomend anyone to avoid this hanset as it is a let down! the sony ericcson k800i is the best you can buy at the moment maybe not as stylish in look weight etc but faultless on other features! good luck guys with the d900 cause your gonna need it! & well done if you have read this first before buying wish i had!

Ali, the battery life on this fone is not great but it can be increased by (if its a new fone) charge it full before you use it. mine just died on my one day without warning because i didnt do this but its been fine since i did. I have since also bought an incar charger which cost me £3 inc p&p off ebay just incase.

                                  Additoinal comments about this fone:
Has some good, impressive features, however,

i persoanlly dont find the camera as good as the sony ericssons 2mplx, esp at night. The SE flash is super bright. i also loved the panoramic and night mode feature on my SSE, this dosent have either

You cant assign your own messgae tone (if i am wrong here pl someone tell me how to do this.

The keypad can be tricky sometimes. can make my fingers ache. i also fine it hard to grip the slider.

I dont know if anyone else has found this too but even with a very small amount of pressure put on the fone between my fingers its a bit crunchy and you can also move top half (screen section) a bit left and right. is this normal?

it dosent have a msg counter, only call timers, i liked this feature on SE.

But it does have some cool features:
The fones default theme is cool and original

its nice and slim and looks good. good for business and leisure use esp cos it can support windows and other office progammes.

text is as easy as ever to use, samsung have to be the best iv used for this.

you can assign a quick menu and a secondary quick menu which is handy.

you can lock amost anything in the menu and assign a PW for those of u with nosy bf's/gf's.

and lots of other features too that WOWED me when i was first getting used to it. They look realy nice in red too. i have the chrome one, dont be fooled by the o2 pics online cos its a bit greyer than that, it look really silver on that but its a bit darker.

I would definitly recommend this phone. Samsung have always been miles ahead with an alround good, well designed and thought out package when it comes to phones - then again tthats the japs for you.
