Keypad tones. Easy to adjust. From IDLE mode, push up slider, and use LH side buttons to adjust volume.

bought my d900 4 days ago.. I really like it, cant say its over the top, but looks really good. Question for those who had their SCREEN CRACK: was your display light set ON while charging.. cause first thing i did was set it so it doesnt leave the screen on while charging.. Two buttons on the right bottom had a much dimmer lighting then the rest, so i sent it to be repaired... gosh.. send a brand new phone to repair.. :S
otherwise.. nice phone, hopefully wont be givin me any more problems after i get it back in a week!

to save your sent messages. you need to press send and save, when sending a message, because u do have the option of just saving.

could someone please help me!!!! how do you make the phone louder , it is really quiet.

what is the difference between the D900 and E900: except camera and size. Does the D900 not have a calculater?

I've been having this phone for about two weeks now and I am overall satisfied with it. My first concern about it was reliability as I've only been used to own super-reliable Nokia phones until now. However, the D900's looks made me want it so bad that I eventually given into teptation and got it. I take good care of it and it seems fine. I never dropped it so I can't tell how well it will handle physical shocks but I got it a little wet in a sky trip and nothing happened. It's battery also didn't seem to be affected by the -12 Celsius temperature (contrary to my older 6100 Nokia). The screen and rubbery back tend to get dirty from fingerprints and static dust but you can clen them and regain the shine as new. No scratches on my screen yet.
Now, regarding the features: the phone has millions of useless settings such as font color, themes, etc but lacks advanced customisation in the browser, java applications and computer software. For instance I found no way to install a java application without downlowding it using the phone's browser and I was unable to install the GMail security certificate. Also, I can't seem to be able to select the phonebook in use - memory or sim card - the default is both.
The battery life is acceptable: 3-4 days without using the camera, mp3 player and just making about 30 minutes of phonecalls per day.
Overall opinion: if you want a good camera, buy a camera, if you want smart features, mp3, video, internet, buy a laptop, if you want a realiable long lasting phone just for calls buy a Nokia 6 series, if you want a fantastically cool device that does a little bit of each of the above but that you love to own and use, buy the D900.

dear guys, just made a switch from the d830 to the d900, as compared to the d900, the d830 is pure useless junk, the d900 is a much better buy even that they are from the same range... well, do have a little problem here, my phone is having problem to read the micro sd card everytime i had charged the phone & it will take a long while to be able to read the card (plus i do need to removed & inserted a couple of more times), anyone out there can solve this? cheers!

I am a bit concerned by the comments over the internet regarding the screen's cracking on D900's.

I work for a major (non Samsung) manufacturer and my job is to identify and work on production fixes for common faults. Obviously, I don't have access to the Samsung warranty database, however due to the amount of people reporting the same issue with cracked screens, it appears that there is a common quality issue with these phones. Although by the sounds of it, viewing the warranty database would not show much of a concern, as it sounds like the consumers are being made to pay for the cost of repair themselves!

Therefore, I would recommend that owners of this phone that have suffered from cracked screens, that were not due to external influences, report it directly to the Samsung distributor in their country. It is no good reporting the issue to the retailer. The retailer generally won't be interested, as you have already given them your money.

I would also include the serial number of the phone when contacting the distributor, so that they can identify the production period of the phone's affected. Also, include details of when you first noticed the crack. For example, you put the phone on charge, and when you took it off charge you noticed that the screen had developed a crack, etc. Details on how you use the phone are also worthwhile mentioning. For example, on average >5 calls a day approx. 5 minutes long and approx. 5 SMS a day, etc. Charge it every 3 days, etc. I would also say how you physically handle your phone, but this will be taken with a pinch of salt as no-one will ever own up to physically abusing their phone. ;-)

I know that it maybe hard to find contact details for the distributor in your country, whoever they can be found if you persevere with Google. For example, I couldn't easily find contact details for Samsung UK, however by googling for 'Samsung contact details' I found the following for the UK distributor:

                                      Samsung Electronics (UK)
                                      Samsung House
                                      1000 Hillswood Drive
                                      Chertsey
                                      Surrey
                                      KT16 0PS
                                      United Kingdom
                                      Telephone: +44 1932 455 234

Or, get their details from a 'Yellow Pages' type phone directory.

I don't know whether this issue is due to abuse, as I am not part of the official investigation, however my instinct tells me that there are too many incidents to be just a 'one off' issue.
