Just got the phone. This picture here does it no justice, you really have to see and touch the phone itself to appreciate the design; Its absolutely awsome. Picture quality is good but is no match for SE K800i but keep in mind that D900 has better functions (My friend owns a SE K800i so we compared), shoots 100 times better video than SE, extremely flexible in terms of its function (The program loads fast and the presenation of the menu is excellent) and is, of course, slim/sexy as hell.

Samsung Lovers (I never had a samsung before). Please go buy it. I beg you. :)

One drop and this lil' b4stard is fooked.

You can tell this cos it is so slimline and compact - there are no gaps for the "shock" to dissipate to (as my inner 'geek' tells me). It also means saying goodbye to that nice QVGA screen should you drop it from waist height onto a concrete floor...

Any higher than that and you should really get the f*ck outta there - this lil' beaut would probably detonate it's insides are packed in that tight!..

Build quality is very good. The slider is very nice, and compared to the horrible D500 slider, it is very, very nice. Sammy have actually made the slide function on the D900 spring loaded, so it operates perfectly.

Regardless, you have to expect the slide function to become a little 'loose' or 'wobbly' (to use a geek term) after 8-12 months of good use. At least thats what i'm expecting, anyway.

The only horrible thing about this phone design-wise is the covers for the charger and memory card, with the former being the problem.

The reason is cos the covers are attached to the phone with a small peice of 1mm thick transluscent cord. So every time you open the cover (esp. the charger cover cos you need to open it for every charge and if you connect handsfree/data cable) it feels like it might eventually snap off.

But then, this is purely an assumption and for all i know it could be a special unbreakable alloy that they recovered from the Roswell incident.

Well, at least thats what most geeks and paranoid Yanks on this website would want to hear...

Hey current D900 owners, I just have a couple questions. How solid is the phone's overall structure? Would it survive a drop on the ground? And how solid is the slide mechanism? Any comparison to D500/D600? The sooner I know, the sooner I can buy mine! Thanks! :-)

            To Flip

Now, while i have nothing against Yanks, i cant help thinking that my dear 'freinds' from across the pond have once again 'out done' themselves.

Rather than find a US compatible charger - which will probably cost a lot (think about delivery) - why not just go to your local thrift store and buy a US power socket to UK power socket adapter???

They would surely only cost about $8 at the very most??

A US charger for the Sammy D900 will probably set you back $30 at least.. Not that i know this, but my assumptions are usually accurate. But surely the above is a far better idea, not least if you've clearly spent a fortune on the phone and shipping - time to start saving the 'cents' not sh*tting out more of them..

            To J-zo

Most of the D900s (like mine) will be black. You will be hard pressed to find the other colours. THis is because when a phone is first released (the D900 is still only a week young), the default colour (black in this case) will always ship first with 'other' colours shipping at a later date.

Or at least i know that Nokia definately does this. The only reason that i can think of as to why mobile phone companies do this is because the other colours make the phones 'exclusive' (cos they are rare) and so customers who may be bored with the current model might be more inclined to buy the phone in a new colour.

And yes, people are that petty. It's why we're ruining the planet.

ALSO, you CANT change the covers. They are fixed. Try removing them and you'll have to try buying a new D900...

Also, very rarely do you get to choose what colour phone you get unless the dealer is competant and has certain colours in stock.

            To mycL

On a 'general' basis, the phone works a treat. I should hate it as well, what with going from geeky Symbian to 'standard' phone software. But i am very impressed with the Sammy D900 OS - its very well thought out and structured. Nowhere near as versatile as Symbian, but one of the best "static" OS's i've used on a phone.

Menu interface is very good. The icons look very bold, fresh and crisp courtesy of the QVGA screen. They are not dull either like other phones.

Accessories will 'vary' according to which country and supplier you buy the phone from. But most D900s will come with charger, PC software, battery and headphones.

The TV out cable is NOT included. Strange cos Smasung have outdone themselves trying to market this useless feature, but i suppose it means you have to sh*t out another £30 to Sammy if you are bored enough and geek enough to go out and buy it...

I bought a SanDisk 1GB microSD card for my new D900 and found that it would only detect 512MB. However, I did a full phone reset by entering the code *2767*3855# and it can now see the full 1GB!! Be warned though, if you try this you will lose all your settings and phone numbers stored in the phones memory (multimedia files are safe)

i just got the phone yesterday with a 1gb card. the memory card works fine, but i was just wondering how do you transfer files from your pc to the memory phone?

other than that, the phone is amazing, sleek, sexy, amazing functions. Although i dont like the fact that if you store your songs on memory card, you HAVE to pick the songs one by one, UNLESS they're playlisted but you only get 4 playlists max and 30 songs in each folder.

the camera is pretty good but you cant compare it to the se k800, thats unfair. they're 2 different phones made for different reasons.

i just got my d900, but it came with the british style charger, and iam a "yank". What other phones from samsung have this same kinda charger? ill just go to ebay and get the charger from a compatable phone.

If you have the D900, why not just find out yourself?

It's like asking someone if you can walk on stilts, when you already have a pair of legs to find out..

Battery life: I have charged once so far, about 1.30 hours of talk, played with java, texting not much, the batterly lasted 4 days.

samsung claims talktime being 6.5 hours.

but again, that's after the first charge, when the full capacity is not reached!

I would try ordering online from the States. I dont know how the exchange rate is working at the mo, and i know you Mounteys would rather take a running leap than have anything to do with a Yank (like most of the world), but, well....

Battery life: I'm not sure yet. Being 'excessively' intelligent, i actually wasnt charging the phone properly, thinking the final bar in the battery symbol that flashes meant the thing was 'fully' charged. SO my battery performance has been balls.

However, i have now charged it properly and a day later after a 15 minute phonecall and 6 pictures, there is still full battery life..
