      MTL, You said you just got it. So better avoid flashing by yourself. Because flashing will void the warranty of the phone and may change the IMEI ! Also you need to buy flash cable, correct version of firmware and it need some skill(may be you are familiar with it). Improper flashing may have side effects also.

          MTL, Looks like a software issue. May be corrected by flashing. My opinion, You go back to the seller or an authorised service and get it flashed(or replaced)

              TALS;
              No code will work. It's clear that usb installation is blocked. And there is a clear reason for that. This method of installation is against the interest of operators as they lose the wap charges. Samsung also has there own wap site 'Samsung funclub'. What's the use of that if people go on installing through usb? They also know that many tutorials are on the web.
              And one of such popular tutorial sites: phonetutorials.tk also is blocked now?? I can't open that page!

                DIANAB. First of all, press and hold RH side button for shortcut to Take Photo. Then use LH side buttons. Will straighten you out!

                Don't know about your software.

                  I have the d900 and for some reason my camera is backwards...someone must've been playing with it and when I take a picture it is backwards and when I try to turn it sideways it's upside down...also, I got a software upgrade a few months back and have noticed that the camera is extremely slow...hugely disappointed with that because most pictures i take do not come out if the person is in motion...help!?!?

                    Rajesh; i fully understand the document viewer feature and agree with you.
                    what about the JAVA installation form PC?
                    i saw someone posting a new code for D900i.
                    do you happen to know if it is working?

                      TALS;
                      Picsel file viewer is not mere a 'document' viewer. Using it, you can zoom, rotate, view full screen and zoom-while-in full screen, with ANY image transferred from PC. But in D900-i, you can zoom images taken with its camera only(and not while in full screen). Is it not a difference ? That's why I asked you to refer Tip 34 of my guide. Goodluck.

                        This is the phone with excellent features, slim and handy. The camera and picture quality is best. However, its silver colour peeled off from left side and bare grey colour plastic is visible only in 2 weeks little use. Its speaker sound quality for listening tones and music is bad, however, headphone sound is best. Its slider is little bit hard. The phone had problems 3 times in 2 months and finally repaired by the company. The ring tones are of poor quality and the speaker is not good. The screen is bright, wide and good quality. The SanDisk small 512 mb card works fine. The processor is fast and reliable and downloading of pictures and movies directly to PC is very fast and much faster than D-600. The picture quality even in room tubelight is very impressive and clear when you download on your PC and watch on a bigger screen. Its slim size and lightweight is a good point.

                          Rajesh; thanks for helping.
                          let me know if i have the full picture.
                          the links you have sent point three new issues in the D900i:
                          1. missing document viewer.
                          2. java serial code that is not working.
                          3. volume key in standby mode feature.
                          did i miss anything?
                          i agree the first two issues are important.
                          personlay i can live without a document viewer.
                          without JAVA i have a problem!!!
                          are you sure a code was not found for the D900i. i saw this issue solved on the D900i forum.
                          the third issue of the volume key in standby mode seems really minor, but i am sure i saw somewhere the feature just changes locaton (button).

                          Ragesh,
                          i am not bothering you with these questions for nothing. i simply intend to by one of the phones in two weeks when i get to Europe.
                          i really like the metalic look and the radio of the D900i and try to understand all the new issues it encapsulate.
                          BTW about the U600 option - not for me, i do not like the looks of it at all.
                          10x tals.

                            TALS;
                            D900-i has got many bugs and handicaps and it is really inferior to D900. It seems that Samsung made it in a hurry to add an FM radio to D900. Many discussions are going on in forums. It has been discussed many times in this forum also. To avoid repetition, please go to the search box at bottom and search for 'hello123'. And the last thread given in the mentioned post is not working. For that, click the below link and read post 37 onwards.
                            http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=62034

                            And regarding your comparison of these handsets, if you think battery life of D900-i is better, I think you are mistaken; its worse. Camera speed also not better. The only useful addition I find is the FM radio. And if somebody wants FM radio, better go for U600.

                            Refer tip 34 of my D900 guide and you'll see what you really miss without picsel file viewer.

                              Rajesh; how can you say "no doubt, D900 is much better than D900i"?
                              the only real advangae of the D900 is the document viewer (a feature i personally never used).
                              on the other hand the D900i has:
                              - FM radio
                              - Titanium framing
                              - Whisper mode.
                              - A better font
                              - faster camera shutting
                              - better battery life
                              - new camera UI.

                              i am sure part of the advantages i wrote for the D900i are not really present - but i think my arguments are clear.
                              as someone who knows a lot more than me about Samsung phones - please let me know what am i missing.

I have someone willing to sell me his D900i used for a month for $275 Canadian with original everything is that worth it? or better off getting D900? Please reply Quickly

                                    TALS; D900 is another instance of excellent craftsmanship from Samsung. The material selection is wisely done so as to make it as light as possible (85g). You get a 3MP cam, mp3 player and many other features but first of all you get a compact and handy PHONE that you can carry. material selection is one of the toughest part of any design( myself being a mechanical engineer can say that). It is silly to think that they have selected 'cheap' material. You may get phones made of 'precious' metals or those boxy things made by other brands with 130g or 200g !
                                    It has good keypad ergonomics and the best sliding mechanism I've ever seen. I think the downside of Samsung phones is the lack of useful and popular features. But when it comes to phone design.....

                                    ....SAMSUNG RULES !!

                                    ...............................................................

                                        If you adjust ISO to 400, scene balance to "night time landscape", and white balance to "sunset", and use a tripod (yes you can get a cell phone tripod mount, i got one for $8), night pics are fine. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sleazy_p_martini/1208895487/

                                        internet with t-mobile works fine, but the stock browser sucks. opera-mini works better for viewing the web but it asks for permission every time i click a link... thx to the sender of msg. Nhd@, i've already been through those settings for all my java apps and for two of the four settings, i only have "ask each time" and "no, close down" as available options. google maps needs to download constantly, so this problem is lame.
                                        As far as the D900, even with all the faults it's the best non-keyboard phone out there. my only complaint is no voice dial. and it feels great in the hand, so thin and non-slippery. i think the finish is better than any other phone, and mine is built like a tank, not sqeaky like a motorola. i use the stereo bluetooth profile all the time, i send songs wirelessly from my laptop, it automatically downloads my gmail with a POP client(and replies), it does sin/cos/tan, converts weights and measures, great video camera, TV-Out AV cable, when i call someone and hang up, it gives me thhie other numbers for that contact in case i want to try one, if i'm listening to a song and someone calls me, i can answer, hang up and go back to the same place in the song, all from my headset. you can make any jpeg your wallpaper, any mp3 your ringtone... if you don't need a keyboard, this is the best phone out there. i bought it last november ($310 on ebay) and never regretted it. everyone who holds my phone says "this is a really cool phone". lots of people have crackberries and RAZRs, nobody i know has this phone. nobody has seen this phone. i haven't seen one in a store here in phx. this is like having batman's phone.
                                        get this phone.
