after using this phone for several months, there is just one problem i face. - The speed of the camera. Its so slow, esp when auto focus is turned on. its takes 3.5 secs to take a nice and clean picture. Trust me, if u ask any outsiders to take a picture for you(with D900), its never gonna work. they dont understand that it takes the auto focus to zoom in, then it takes to load then u can move ur hand. . .which is normally 3.5 secs..........

      To Rajesh,

      Do you know where to steer me to buy a flash cable?

      Also, which of these firmware upgrades is best for me.

        WAEL, if you mean f300 & f500, I'm not so familiar with them to compare. f300 has small screen resolution as it is music oriented...

          PETRA;
          Now that you came from Nokia, it will take some before you get along with a Samsung :)
          And atleast you can MOVE a calendar entry without much difficulty. Open calendar. Select the date. Press ok/i button 3 times and change the date.....

          Perhaps this document may be of any help to you:

            hi all.
            i just swapped from nokia (6111) to samsung d900.....what a mistake! why cant they put something like 'profiles' in and what is the calendar about... no options to copy events or repeat them. really long way from nokia!!! also the whole files system is not really connected to memory card very well and options for copying and moving files are sooooo limited!
            what i do enjoy is the design and the camera - i can have lots of fun with that.

            would not recomend to any nokia fan!

            take care, p.

              To all

              Regarding battery life of d900....why so much fuss...if u want your phone to have 4 days continuous battery life..then better go for a spare battery and charge it either thru usb cable adapter or thru external battery charger.

              i dont know whether any phone gives a talk time more than 4-5 hrs in continuous.

              Dont blame samsung for making phones with poor battery life. i know what the features it have and if somebody does not know search thru this forum.

              d900 is the best gsm mobile made so far by samsung.dont buy just like that as everybody go for nokia or SE models.

                    To Rajesh,

                    I have noticed something very peculiar lately.

                    I had a Sandisk 1 GB card in the phone but took it out for another device.

                    My phone has been on standby for 4 days with only one call made and the battery is still full. With the SanDisk card in, it would only go about 3 days without the battery starting to deplete.

                    Will continue to monitor that and let you know.

                    Dirk

                        @criss

                        Don't be deceived by what ppl say, battery life of this phone is ok. I Charge my phone once every 1.5 - 2days depending on use. If i use player of watch movies, i charge much more frequently. I've not spoken for 6hr at a stretch to see if the 6hr talk time is real ( i doubt if anyone has)
                        Document viewer is ok. You view word, spreadsheet, pdf and powerpoint.

                            my questions for you all are these:

                            does the battery really last for up to 6h (talking time)?? (how often do you recharge the battery?)
                            and do you have problems with document viewer?
                            (what kind of document could you see with it?)

                            thanks

                                No, you can't set your own message tone, that really confused me at first, their are other options for tones, but you can't transfer your own. I would have thought for a phone that plays mp3 ringtones, you could also download your own message tone.

                                  Yes, I tried formatting thru PC and it works fine .....I did it in FAT (didn't work), FAT32 (didn't work),

                                  Also tried it as 'mass storage' in phone. PC didn't recognize it.

                                  Do I need a flash cable to upgrade the firmware or would my provider do that? (Vodaphone, Netherlands).

                                  Thanks in advance.

                                      Hi George, 2GB card is not working in all versions. especially old firmware versions. Btw is it working? (even though you can't format) And hope you have tried formatting through pc also.

                                        WAEL; D900 & U600

                                        Though similiar in spec, these phones differ in the software, and user interface. (D900 is Dragonfly phone and U600 HPE phone) For example, in U600, you can access ALL menu functions, during a call while in D900, you can access only phone book and messages. in D900, each folder in my files can be seperately locked with password while in U600 you have no such choice other than to lock the whole my files folder. Also no option for menu background in U600.

                                        In DESIGN & DISPLAY these two are almost similiar. In APPEARANCE, I personally think D900 is much better. U 600 has touch sensitive soft keys, the ergonomics of these has been questioned by users.

                                        In FEATURES, I think U600 is the winner. It includes more innovative functions than D900.
                                        My vote is for the U600, as 3 major weaknesses of D900 (and most of the Sam phones) have been solved in U600. They are;
                                        1. U600 has user profiles.
                                        2. In U600, you can set mp3 for message alert
                                        3. In U600, you can record photos/videos directly to the memory card.

                                        Opinions against U600 are mainly much delay in taking photos and shorter battery life than D900.
