Sam, you can stop the camera activating in your pocket by enabling the 'cover key lock'. It's in Settings/Phone Settings/Extra Settings. This only disables the outside keys so you don't need to keep switching it on and off. If you want to use the outside keys, the feature can be temporally switched off from the outside too, without having to open the flip.
I think the rest of your comments are spot on.

Firstly my last phone was a Sharpe GX10i
To address the primary concern about sound quality when making and receiving calls. I think it is fair 2 say that the quality is "usable" but not at the same standard as other mobiles, although when speaking to “Vodafone customer care" the quality was excellent which suggests that some of the quality issues are to do with strength / quality of signal or third party equipment, either way this should be treated as a priority by Samsung. Build quality is good and the phone although small and light seems sturdy enough for every day use. Both screens are bright and colour is excellent, I would have liked to see a slightly larger main screen as the viewable area is taken up by a large date and time field and sub menu leaving a relatively small postage size area for your own picture. Both screens are difficult to see in sun light which is a common problem with TFT displays. The front cover screen holds a text message alert along with signal strength and battery life but missed calls alert remains for about 15 seconds before it disappears or so, I don't understand why Samsung would do this as this is basic stuff for a mobile. Call me a big girl's blouse but I would have liked the multi coloured flashing diode of the earlier Samsung models (SGH-100) and a blue back light for the key pad. The keys on the pad have a good feel and size They are back lit in white (other than the green and red call buttons). Whilst on the subject of the buttons Samsung need to re-assign the central "OK" button to access the main menu as in most other mobiles, instead it launches the WAP browser which is irritating, also when entering text the space button is assigned to the # key which is on the bottom right. This is a pain and difficult to use if you have big hands and fingers, it would have been far more sensible to assign the central bottom key (+) to this function unfortunately you can not manually reassign these keys. I have no problem what so ever with the T9 function remaining as the set default and all text functions and software generally work well and is intuitive. You cannot assign your own ring tone for messages and have to rely on the pre-packaged ones which R naff, again why? when most people are use to being able to assign specific tones for messages. You do get a repeating (every 2 minutes) alert after receiving a text which is a nice idea shame it could not be replicated for a missed call. Again the phone is missing the ability to ring and vibrate at the same time (useful when out in a noisy town / environment. Battery life for average users I guess is about 3 days depending on usage however recharge times are quick. The camera and video work well for a phone, but you do have to be realistic, this is a phone and 1 megapixsal spec not a top of the range 6 MP camera. The button on the side of the phone activates the camera this is liable to be pressed in your pocket or accidentally and needs more thought. I guess much larger than 1 MP would make the file size prohibitory for sending over mobile phone networks. The MP3 player is nice, the games are naff, the voice recorder useful (especially if your being abused and thrown into a meat wagon by the local plot!!:->) The phone has a stated 88 megs of storage which makes it excellent for it's class, but given the cheapness of flash memory now especially in the country which manufactures this phone I cannot understand why a phone which sell's itself as a multimedia item does not have twice that amount or more or an expansion slot for a MMC. With a MMC slot it would make file transfer between computers and the phone cheap and child's play.
Overall this is a very nice bit of kit, but the area's needing improvement are obvious and I don't know why Samsung did not pick up on them at the R&D stage. Would I pay £265 for this handset? Probably not probably about £100 - £125. As a free upgrade it represents excellent value for money and I would give this phone an overall score of 85%

It's kinda weird, cause the phone's speaker is great when it comes to sound from Mp3's and movies and stuff, better than most speakers.. But the voice sound is really lousy, so I guess there's something wrong with the call configurations or something..

I've got this phone on a orange contract and think it's great, I've had no trouble with call quality as yet. There was only Three things I did not like about this phone:
One, NO memory card
Two, You can only have the message tones that are embedding on the phone
and until about Half an hour ago it did not display a missed call sign on the outside screen when I lit the front screen up only my wallpaper weird but great.

Excellent MP3 player, however call quality is v ery poor the line often breaks up and goes very quiet so people cannot hear me. Also does not accept most ring tones they get sent to other files which you cannot access.

About the memory slot.. Have you ever thought abou reducing a little bit the quality of the mp3 songs? Making then have aprox. 1 or 1.5mb... The quality surely will be reduced but u can add 50 song to your phone and it will still have sapce for photos and other stuff.. I used to have a P800 (sony) while i still had a 16mb mms i made this and for me that was fine..
I think that is a good idead compressing the songs...
