Sorry I omitted this earlier Timmy.
The touch pad keys are very sensitive but I imagine you willl get used to them. However it can slow down one's operation of the phone and toasting a text ms is no joke. If this bothers you then do look at other makes like Nokia or SE.
My preference would be the Nokia because of all phones, Nokia has the best user interface.
My network gives me an upgrade on a yearly basis but with upgrades, I can't rescind my choice of phone. On a new contract I believe there is a cooling off period which allows you to check out the phone to see if you like it - why don't you make further enquiries in this direction?

Timmy
If you want to use a phone as a walkman, why not consider the Sony-Ericsson instead as they are definitely walkman phones as well as having a good camera facility.

Hi Alice
The txt msg alert is either tone or vibration only and not both I'm afraid. You can access the alert via settings>sound>messages.
There are however 10 diff tones you can use and they get more melody-like as you scroll down the list.
Hope this helps

Can someone please tell me how to turn the phone on to silent mode?! I can activate it to either vibrate or be silent when that mode would be selected but haven't got a clue how to actually activate silent mode! Thanks.

To save your txt msgs, hit options, then opt 2 which is Save and Send.
As far as I can see, when charging the unit, the screen stays on.
Hope this helps

Ryan,
Has it occured to you that some people don't go for specs and go for looks??? And just because someone's opinion is different to urs doesn't mean their retarded. For instance why use a poxy phone when you can use a digital camera (better quality, better pictures) and y use a phone to listen to music (a phone is for talking- y should i waste my battery on listening to music, I'll use my ipod for that). Someone please tell me what is the obsession with specs and functions??? Apart from that I can't decide between E900 and Chocolate. The chocolate looks better but I'm worried it might fall apart b4 the end of my contract!!!

Cool, slick and it sure turns heads. Only got it this afternoon and love it already. The only problem I have is that even though it was a Vodafone upgrade - half my simcard has been wiped out which is a real pain in butt. Kids piccies and vids lost - any way of getting these back anybody know? Not to mention loads of phone numbers and texts. But the phone itself is a trooper!!

I like the appearance and feel of this phone. The slider is spring-loaded, with that impression of quality despite it's plastic construction. It is a small, handy size and very light. One thing though, the shiny. jet-black finish does pick up a lot of finger marks so keep a clean hankerchief handy.
The screen is bright and clear and while there is a wallpaper, no facility for a screensaver is provided. Perhaps a software upgrade would resolve this?
Menu options are immense and you can change the way the menu is laid out. I chose the list option as it enabled me to scroll faster and right-clicking the navigation switch brings up a further list of options which may , like the previous list be accessed by pressing the numerical designate of the option you wish to select. You can choose background options, either dark or light skin. Going light enables better visibility imho.
When I chose a phone, the main features I was looking for were ease of use as a phone and the texting capabilities of the unit itself. The phone worked well enough though the sound quality was rather poor and tinny. Volume was reasonable and there is a speaker option which alas is only accessible by pressing the centre of the navigation switch and then bringing up options, then left clicking the option for the loudspeaker. On a Nokia, this would have just been a one-click operation.
Having used the phone for a week and a half, I have to say that texting is a fairly horrendous experience as compared with a Nokia. Part of the reason is that the touch keys can be too sensitive and you could very easily toast your message. The T9 is also fairly unweildly with not very many symbols being available. To date I have not been able to access the apostrophe symbol easily. I am hoping that my friends know me well enough to realise that I have a god command of the English language :). It does however store up to 200 sms messages, more than anything available on the market and as a nostalgic romantic who likes storing messages from and to my closest and dearest, this is a useful option.
Bluetooth capability is good and for all those who have had trouble finding it, the security code is 00000000. Thankfully, this may be changed if you wish.
The 2MP camera delivers good quality shots and whilst a zoom option does appear to the left of the screen, I have thus far not been able to use the facility. Neither is there any mention of this in the manual.
I cannot comment on the ability of the unit to deliver music since this is an option I am rather unlikely to use.
Battery life while making approximately calls lasting approximately 1.25 hours, sending around 6 to 10 texts and the occasional playing around with the phone itself is about 2.5 days between charges. Not too bad but again not Nokia-like imho.
Overall impression is that it is the coolest, neatest, sexiest looking phone on the market. It makes calls reasonably well though the sound quality using the speaker and its' operation could be much improved. The slider operation is very impressive. Picture quality is good though the camera and text operations could be more streamlined. It takes a bit of getting used to but my impression is that it is not a very intuitive phone like a Nokia. Indeed I would say that Nokia still has the best user-interface and if their 6233 looked like an E900 and could store 200 text messages, I would have gone for a Nokia instead. As it is it doesn't but that shouldn't detract from the appeal of the Samsung E900.
Love is blind. It leads you to be patient too. And I love this phone.

I got this phone today and I have to say the style of it is amazing! The look of it really does turn eyes as my friends and parents have already said something like 'Oh that's snazzy!' and other comments like that!:)
In many reviews I have read that the touch sensitive keys are VERY sensitive, I have to appose to this as I find it very easy to navigate through menus and compose txt messages!
I love that it is an MP3 player and has loads of different features, the 2 megapixel camera for example which is ecellent in my opinion although I do agree with people that say that the delay of the shutter nearly always makes the pictures turn out blurry unless you have an extremely still hand!
Overall I have found this phone a really stylish and very featured phone crammed into such small space!
I will be keeping this phone for a long time and won't be taking it back! :)
