Infosycworld says the touch sensitive buttons on E900 are a real pain in the a** ... How true is that ?. Is there a lock switch (or a number lock) to lock the keypad so that no accidental dialing happens ?.

this is the first phone i've had that not been a nokia (big mistake) although it looks the part the navigation to send a text message is twice that of nokia and can someone please tell me how to get the predictive text mode as my default setting finding it a real pain having to change text mode everytime i want to do a text. i think it is going to have to be returned and i'm heading back to nokia although they don't have a neat compact phone at the moment they all seem to be getting larger.

I'm thinking of getting this phone and I have looked around, got one question, what’s firmware? Some kind of patch to the phone?

                Hey Bonx,

Thanks a lot for spending time and replying our questions. It seems that you had tested most of all functions.
Regarding recording phone calls, I think is not such big deal, but I may try using Russian Firmware if I buy it.
Others that are in doubt between D900 and E900, I personally dont like the quality of D900 external case, seems very low quality when I saw it at shop.
                Best Regards.

I am torn between SGH-E900 and SGH-D900 ... Any pros and cons apart from mega pixels ? ... Is the back of E900 totally flat or does it have a projection like that of D900 ? ...

I've jus bought this phone and think it's fantastic, even though the touch sensitive buttons do get in the way from time to time, it's worth it. The cameras' good, the music player's excellent and there's definitely enuf memory, even without a memory card. I wud definitely recommend this phone to anyone who wants to be the envy of all their mates.

I had this phone before it got stolen. It was the first Samsung I've had and I was very impressed with it. Looked great, good features, and never broke on me. Warning: for the first few days the touch sensitive 'keys' can getb in the way. A lot.

-For the memory card question, try putting the songs in the first level of a folder called Music.
I tried putting my songs in different folders to make it easier to create the playlists, but then I couldn't access the songs. So for your memory card: Say it's the F: drive, create four folders F:\Images, F:\Videos, F:\Music and F:\Sounds and dump all your music in the music folder.
-I haven't had any problems with keeping it as either T9 default or abc default. The manual says "hold down the * button in the text message field and it changes it from abc to T9, and that works fine for me.

I am getting one very soon and listening to all the reviews it sounds really bad, i expected the un-optional Messge tone but i was not ready to hear that you dont have a Cancel button in texting (is that true or just a problem people are having) becuase i cannot stand the T9 thing already. Could someone also tell me about these Firmware things, is the phone really that bad. how is the quality of the camera my bro got his sony ericsson k750i today and it has an excellent camera and you can choose your message tone. surely with texting on the samsung e900 you can choose ABC mode which gets rid of T9 mode? or is it not available?
i really need the answers to these questions please email me the answers... it'd be much appreciated. bye

I bought this phone before 2 days, and the phone is great, but have one problem with it.
I also have 1GB memory card with a lot of music.
                                  When I try to access a M.C. through MP3 player it pops up " Empty ! " ?????
                                  Does anyone have similar problem?!
I´d like to know how to solve this problem.
                                  Thanks! lol

I'll try to answer as many questions as I can remember.
First, the phone has an option to copy ALL contacts to Phone, or copy all contacts to Sim.
-Transferring contacts from Samsung phone to samsung phone shouldn't be that complex. You have one of two options, you could export your phone book out to a .csv file, and then import it into the new phone, or you could export it out to your outlook address book and reimport it to the new phone.
(you could also try the copying all to the sim card, but I don't know if the D600 has that option)
                                    - The sensitivity of the touch pad cannot be set. I've gotten used to it, I think the main thing is learning not to "tap" it like it's a button, but just brush against it. So instead of tapping the touch screen, I just brush my fingers across them and they work fine.
-You cannot record calls by default, but I believe the Russian firmware gives you the option to do that.
-When you slide down the phone, the option comes up to key lock (yes or no), if you choose yes, it locks and if you choose no, it waits a bit longer and locks anyway.
-You can listen to the mp3 player while doing other things, but (for me at least), I save my mp3s on the memory card, and I've found that you cannot access the memory card while playing the music. So if I'm playing music and I try to browse my wallpaper, it will ask if you want to stop music first.
                                    - I got the E900 instead of the D900 'cos it's smaller, (not thinner, but smaller when viewed up front.) I had an E635 and I didn't want a much larger phone when I switched.
-You can set mp3s as alerts for phone calls, but not for text messages.

And my two major problems so far are how quickly the phone dies when once the battery alert comes on and scrolling through the T9 word options because there isn't a back button.

I have had the E900 for about a month or so now. It's an OK phone. The only issue I have with it is the disappointing battery life (compared say, to, the Samsung D500). I am lucky if my battery lasts me three days. The D500 would go for a week!
Also, when the battery is about to go it does so very quickly. Once you get the first low battery warning it's approx 20 mins until it's dead. Quite annoying!

I have had this phone a month now and at first i loved it, but i am selling it now and i've been in 2 shops and one offered me a tiny £80! and the other said they wouldnt even consider buying it, so that tells you something. Its not as fancy as other phones, you cant really do much more than you can on older models of samsung and the touch buttons are very annoying either too sensitive or dont work. Dont buy this phone! (Unless u wanna buy it off me lol)
