So it seems that Orange are bringing this phone out (they really need to update the employies as i went into the store and they didnt know about it and also the same situation over the phone!) but orange have now added it to their "coming soon" list. Now just to wait and see how long it will actually take to be released!

Podge,
And knowing HTC’s reputation, the HTC Diamond will have lagging videos, and a lagging non responsive interface. Trust me- I have their MDA Vario III branded HTC TyTNII which was advertised as the best thing since sliced bread. Guess what- it isn’t!
Why don’t you take a look at the Class action against HTC which many disgruntled users of HTC devices have come together to form. Also take a look at www.xda-developers.com in the Kaiser section and see the complaints about HTC. Are you aware that thousands have signed a petition so HTC can provide the relevant drivers on their device?
What you don’t understand is that not all of us want a device with all the latest features. Some of us want practical features which are suffice; such as a 5MP camera and 8GB storage, a radio and not expendable things like wifi that the average person who holds down a job or academic life does not have the time or opportunity to use. Moreover, some of us actually care about SIZE. Many HTC devices packed with features are CHUNKY and unfashionable. P.S- I personally dislike the look of the Touch Diamond. It looks like a throwback from the 80’s- all straight lines and no curves!
HTC= Bad user experience

Hi Guys,
Spoke to Carphonewarehouse and Mobiles.co.uk today about the release date. Neither of them had any idea about the release date and carphonewarehouse said their are none in stock and they dont have any movement in stock either.
I also rang O2 and they said that it would be on sale on the 28th of May. The phone will be free on a £35 p/m contract for 18 months based on a new order (not sure about upgrades). Play.com also has the phone ready for pre-order with an expected shipping date of 30/05/2008. So I am guessing it will be out at the end of the month

myMy,
It looks like you will have to wait till the end of May. How pitiful is it that the iphone’s prices were given well before it was launched, whereas the Samsung F480 is due to be launched in a couple of weeks yet still so little information on pricing exists?!

myMy,
Are you talking about Sim free or contract prices for the Samsung F480? If you’re talking about contract, I know that the Samsung F480 will be similar in price to the Samsung Soul on the T Mobile network. For example, I recently spoke a T mobile advisor who informed me that on a 12 month contract on flext 25, the phone will cost roughly £149. Obviously on a 18 month contract, it will be much cheaper.

Anonymous,
Carphonewarehouse have not yet released this phone despite their website advertising the 19th of May as their release date. I spoke to them this morning and they confirmed this. As for other retailers stocking this phone, who knows...
myMy,
The Samsung F480 has not been assigned to Vodafone alone. Even if you were to do a quick google search, you’d see that 02 are already citing prices for this phone on contract.

k1shaolin,
Eww- you’re upgrading on the Vodafone network!? God help you- get out whilst you can- their call plans suck! On the other hand, Vodafone's mobile broadband has the best coverage and speeds of up to 7.2mbps (which they expect to double at the end of this year!) whilst T Mobile and 3 are still on 1.8mbps and 2.8mbps.
Trev,
I strongly advise you to wait for the Samsung F480 and not settle for the F490. The phone is greatly lacking in comparison to the F490! However, if you do opt for the F490, you may be able to take advantage of the 14 day/30 day cooling period/ Money back guarantee which sometimes comes with pones.

Yes, Robert, ‘equally proportioned’ is a more fitting word to describe the Samsung F480. The buttons on the F490 also look pretty cheap in comparison to that of the Samsung F480.
As for prices, it depends on who you’ll choose as a network provider. T Mobile will probably be the cheapest (if they plan on supplying this phone). 3 rarely stock descent high end phones, so don’t even go there...
And yes, fashion handsets are overpriced. I owned the Samsung X830 when it came out. Its selling point was it being a ‘fashion phone’ as it was a swivel phone, and so it cost me about £140 to purchase although its features didn’t surpass features on alternative ‘unfashionable’ phones.
**For those seeking the Sim free version of the Samsung F480 please note***
I’ve discovered Timtechs, a website which sell mainstream prices for low prices. It is a Canadian/ American based company but they can ship to the UK. Although the price for the Samsung F480 has not yet been disclosed, I was told by an assistant that the SIM free price would be similar to the price of the Samsung Soul (Samsung U900), which is about $509.95 USD, and so comes to about *£255*.
