Cijo.

Where can you get the software update that you mention, because there is no new software for download from Samsung site?

Is it true that on G600 you can only save one phone number for each person in the address book? that really sucks if it's true.

      To Banjie,
Ans 1& 2: Only the latest firmware G600XEGL1 ( there can be more ) allow you to have mp3 sms tones.
Ans 3 : As this phone comes with a stereo speakers, you may not find it as loud as many other phones which got mono output.
Ans 4: Like all other phones, this phone also display the name of the caller if it is there in the contacts.

Three years ago i found my Samsung phone E770 great (TV-out in a small clamshell!), even with its flaws. But i expected now that Samsung would have made some progress to give us a flawless phone. Obviously not. A pity that Samsung is only interested in design, and not in the basics of a phone that are ease of use and basic functions.
But i am sure that in 10 years (or 20 ?)you will be able to set your own SMS message tones...

Hi can anyone advise me please there are conflicting reports on this phone.
            1. can you set mp3 tunes for your text messages instead of preset tones.
            2. do you need a firmware update to do this.
            3. are the tones and phone rings loud enough to hear in crowded store as i dont want to miss calls or messages.
            4. is there a way to get the phone to display the callers name ?
Thanks in advance for any help as i am thinking of buying this phone. Am using a sony ericsson at the moment but bored to death with it.

Does anyone know how to use the 'view by cover art' feature of the music player? I can't find out how to attach any jpg.s to an album.

When you were not satisfied with your exciting Samsung phone, why did you buy another Samsung?? Either you should have anticipated it or at least you should have gone thr’u this forum where a number of users had already said about all those flaws you have mentioned… So better use your brain next time

Bought this phone last week. Big mistake !
Like all Samsung phones this one looks good and modern but is more of a phone from a few years ago... So slow, loudspeaker too quiet, no Sms mp3 tones, no full screen view from the memory card, and so on... My Samsung E770 from 3 years ago has all these flaws. Why Samsung cannot make any progress ?????

                        To Micheal:
You are absolutely correct. But unfortunately there are some die hard Nokia and SE fans who will simply find fault on every features of Samsung. Hope they will understand 2 things:
1)Every phone has some pros and cons.
2)This is not a Samsung bashing forum and we are more interested in sharing our experience, helping each other, exploring something new etc.
                        Let better sense prevail.

the message 3 spaces below is not true.

you can multitask while listening to music just like nokia phones

you realy have to slide up the phone to take pictures because the lens is protected when the phone is closed and the key pad serves as a settings shortcut, this is for friendly usability.

you cannot do anything more when you are playing mp3, unlike with nokia, u can text, or explore your phone even if you are playing mp3.. you cannot take pictures if you won't slide-up..

I waited for almost 2 months for this phone to reach the philippines, and on January, my hubby gave me this phone on my bday.. I was so excited for my new phone until I used this for just 2 days.. It looks elegant.. Its very handy coz of it's slim.. But It lacks most features that I love from nokia phones.. the camera is not really clear as 5 mp.. you cannot use your mp3 as a message alert.. you cannot save multiple numbers under 1 contact name.. the mp3 player doesn't sound that good.. yes samsung phones depreciate prices slowly compared to nokia phones but after 2 days of usage, when I'm about to sell this phone at the mall, they will just buy it for half the price!! a big waste of money.. not worth waiting..

                                      To Vicky:
If you find the volume is not loud, you may increase the volume of ring tone using mptrim software.
In order to remove the alert tone, go to setting, phone setting, phone profiles, and edit the Normal profile.( You can even create a new profile). While editing, in the third option, named phone sounds, put the key pad On and press ok and then you will get a third option called volume. Make the volume to mute and you are away with the alert sound.

Hi, just had this phone over a week and I love it, nice stylish casing, not at all 'plastic', easy to text on and nice weight. My only complaints are the volume isn't very high even on Max 7, and you are limited to text messaging tone. I am also getting a silly tune everytime I send a message or delete an item, can anyone tell me how to turn this irritation off ? thanks :)
