Possibly top 5.
With this SoC if it were Motorola's device This device would break GSMARENA's battery endurance record.
May be Samsung can do the same, who knows !

Old technology ?
It's actually a Samsung's improvement over IPS panel. Basically PLS is same as IPS panel with some improvements.
So, How is PLS technology OLD ?
It's an improvement of IPS, That means PLS is newer than IPS.
It's kinda like Samsung's HDR 10+, an improvement over regular HDR 10.

PLS TFT is not good for your eyes especially in a dark room (or at night), but useful in daylight ... and it's a very battery hungry old technology !
