Samsung- Now that they've improved, approx. upgrade term is relatively known depending on Android release. Exact date: As soon as it's ready. Not sure how exactly regional differences work though. Official security patches policy info is available. A54 isn't yet there but obviously it's on monthly plan. A34 gets quarterly patches. (no changes then)
Xiaomi- Okay, have you experienced any annoying bugs on that phones? I've rather met people moving away from than to X. because of that. Would you recommend buying midrange Xiaomi as worth use with MIUI?

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2023Good question, I'd like to know too :) Luckily I don... moreI would avoid Motorola like the plague as updates tend to be worse than a Xiaomi device apart from the flagships which may be slightly better. I've had Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco in the past 3 years. I love the performance of MIUI. It's a bit lighter now and the company does push updates to their 1st-party apps quite often via OTA on the phone itself. Like Samsung you can also uninstall or disable their 1st-party apps with no issues. You can also download this Xiaomi downloader app off the Google Play Store which "curates" and extracts updates from Xiaomi themselves (I think) and gives you the option to download a Global, EEA or country-specific MIUI version. The only think I hate is they release phone with either the latest MIUI version then a generation-older Android version. For me, as long as I have latest MIUI version, quarterly security updates and updated 1st-party apps then i would be fairly satisfied. For performance (and not just benchmarks) I would go for a Xiaomi or OnePlus device. They have gone a long way. I kept emailing them with my suggestions and feedback so i suppose that is working.

The display is showing colour abberation (as "off white") similar to the Pixel 7. And the colours of the photos turned out to be pale. I tried tinkering with the display and camera settings and nothing worked. It would seem Samsung has skimped on the display and camera sensor. I could get an A54 but being an Exynos i don't know If I want to. The updates policy of Samsung (and all other OEMs) are generally vague. They do not tell you when will a new Android OS will arrive in each device (only how much) and how often will the A-series will get the security updates (again they tell you how much).

Just bought a midranger lately, but it was for a less demanding user. I ended up with Moto G72 which is good enough, good value & much cheaper than other competitors in my sight. No regrets on the buy. For a better phone, I'd be considering same phones, probably would give A34 a try and accept it as it is. (it's known what to expect from S + I tried the phone) Not sure about Xiaomis. They look good in a way but you may end up with comparably unperfect camera and/or not pleasing bugs on MIUI :/ At least mid-term experience with them needed and I miss that on their recent years phones.

And Samsung even said to try setting the display to Natural. The colours of the skin tones are just not that accurate. That is my own skin tones and videos i've been watching on Youtube. And the whites are "off white" similar to the screen of my Google Pixel 7. It would seen these companies have skimped on investing good display tech on their screen displays and camera sensors. I've had Samsung phones in the past (95% of them were of the S-line of devices) and I have never experience this before. My only choice now is to swap or trade it in.

Gino76ph, 17 Apr 2023 I've had the new Galaxy A34 phone for few days now. L... moreLogically, screen settings have nothing to do with camera output. Just use natural mode with eye comfort shield off or external screen with true to life setting to view results, if possible. Regardless the reason, midrange cameras aren't perfect. You may try scene optimizer or HDR on/off to see if it helps. There are color filters under magic wand icon (I guess it is:) in camera app and gallery photo editor present on Samsung phones; canera pro mode contains white balance setting. Check them out in a search for a fix to your problem.

I've had the new Galaxy A34 phone for few days now. Love the big screen, stereo speakers, admirable performance & the long battery life. But i noticed something very odd.
Took the phone out & about in London with the wife mostly taking photos of ourselves, foliage and sceneries. It was partly sunny & cloudy that day. We are both of Asian decent but i noticed our skin tones taken from the main camera make it look we are pale skinned. the colour rendering is a bit off and i'm both disappointed and puzzled.
Is this the fault of the scene optimiser? Or the display set to Vivid? Or because of the lack of adaptive refresh rate or lack of HDR+? Would love all your thoughts please. Cheers.

Now the battery is changed with a new one of course.
