Gino76ph, 09 Sep 2024I think Xiaomi and Samsung have their own rabid fans. They ... moreI'm a Xiaomi user myself, even I know which of their products are worth buying, and which ones aren't. The rabid fans don't mean anything to me because they don't bother my life at all.
And no, those three brands you mentioned are very much recognized for offering good value for money devices. The problem is the people who think they make better phones than everyone else and fail to see their weaknesses, i.e. the fanatics. There are always a group of fanatics in every brand, but no matter what kind of brand they're a fanatic of, these people are all in the same boat.
You as a sane consumer should buy whatever phone that suits your needs, fits your budget, and from whatever brands you trust the most. Don't let the fanatics and "this one's better, that one's better" crowd bother you.

Gino76ph, 09 Sep 2024I think Xiaomi and Samsung have their own rabid fans. They ... moreOnePlus, Nothing, and Motorola are not available where I live. But the good thing is that Xiaomi and Samsung phones are much cheaper here compared to elsewhere, especially in the UK.
For example, the Poco X6 Pro retails for £345 in the UK, but in my country, it can be had for as low as £218, which makes it an absolute steal, considering how fast its processor is and the fact that it comes with 512GB of storage.
The Galaxy A55 retails for £490 in the UK for the 256GB variant. But where I live, it's only £258. Which again, makes it a fantastically good deal.

Werner, 09 Sep 2024A35 is it an upgrade from the A53? According to specs. I do... moreYou won't feel a difference upgrading from A53 to A35.
In fact, you will lose out on the better selfie lens, better ultrawide lens & better zoom found on the A53.
A35 is better in terms of video stabilization, slightly faster chipset, newer wifi & bluetooth... but overall those are not worth it for an A53 user. I recommend you wait it out for next year's A36/A56. By then you would feel the upgrade. Not to mention, you have one year left of OS updates with A53, so it's not worth it to get a new phone right now.

They will support whatever happens and whatever they come up with. But my other worry is as you said more duplicate models (again totally pointless), phones getting more "premium" and getting "premium prices" every single year and other brands not being recognized for what they are offering such as OnePlus, Nothing or even dare I say Motorola.

With my 14 years of seeing how Android OEMs (including Samsung) follow so-called trends and "innovating", removing and putting new features, small phones becoming bigger and vice versa, number of models in a specific market or region etc. in my opinion Samsung does not listen and sometimes do not think. Please read my previous response again. Quick updates is good. But there is more to be done in listening to feedback, etc.

The Sony Xperia 10 is a high end phone, and the one from a few years ago isn't sold new anymore. Many people don't buy thirdhand electronics due to the many risks it entails. Can't blame them. They shouldn't have to. Everyone should have access to non refurbished phones that don't hurt their hands. And the Pixel 8a isn't really affordable for many budget customers at $550.

Gino76ph, 05 Sep 2024Pointless for Samsung to release these too many phones. The same thing can be applied to Xiaomi, who have released 25 phones this year, 6 of which are duplicates of their Redmi devices sold under the "Poco" sub-brand. Their only compact phone is the Xiaomi 14, which is a flagship that retails for $775 in my country.
For comparison, Samsung have released 17 phones so far in 2024, 8 of which are duplicates of their A-series phones under the M/F/C label. Their only compact phone is the S24, which retails for $870 here.
But funnily enough, almost no one I see in this website seem to care about Xiaomi doing their thing while there's several people on Samsung forums criticizing their strategy while constantly begging for Samsung to make a compact budget phone.
Maybe because the Xiaomi 14 isn't even a top seller compared to the S24, so most Xiaomi buyers couldn't care less about getting a compact budget phone.

Gino76ph, 08 Sep 2024Very true.
Samsung treats it's customers like ignoran... moreWhat did you expect? The regular S24 is way smaller than both the A35 and A55, so of course they had to fit a smaller battery. And when you buy a mid-range phone, of course you're going to get mid-range specs. Many other mid-range phones besides Samsung's use glass bodies as well.
These have nothing to do with Samsung treating customers as if they are ignorant, it's all common sense.

I have been using it for two weeks now, it's a pretty solid phone.Definitely, an upgrade from the iPhone 7 plus I was using before. It has really impressed me with it's performance, i am able to play games like pubg without any problems.

Gino76ph, 08 Sep 2024Very true. Samsung treats it's customers like ignoran... moreIt's not really that bad. For example, 8a literally costs double than this A35, in some parts of the world. Sure, Samsung doesn't offer much, but they don't charge much, either. I mean, for $ 270 you get everything you need AND some more: IP67, eSIM, OIS, 5 years of updates. Let me tell you, those don't come cheap... The only "downside" (pun intended) is the size. Some people just want a smaller phone FROM Samsung, that doesn't cost a fortune.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2024Especially that many of them are fake "models". T... moreVery true.
Samsung treats it's customers like ignorant people. They release a Galaxy S24 with a "flagship" Exynos chip but with low battery capacity. Then they release the Galaxy A-series with glass body to make it "look like premium" and entices customers with higher battery capacity and with midrange Exynos chip (that was considered a flagship chip 2-3 years ago) but both having inferior screen specs, ultra slow battery charging, etc.
The only saving grace for Samsung phones are the updates. But IMHO you are paying a premium price for thei devices. I'd rather look elsewhere like OnePlus or Motorola.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2024Especially that many of them are fake "models". T... moreExcept the non-rich do have choice - they can just not give their money to Samsung and find another brand that does make an affordable compact mid-ranger, like Sony with their Xperia 10 VI, or Google with their Pixel 8a. Apple is also planning to release a $450 iPhone SE 4 for early next year.
It's not hard to find a compact mid-ranger if you look hard enough. Sure your options are limited, but that's how it is. Advocating and begging won't get you anywhere because big companies are too busy to care.
