Absolutely not close. Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Xiaomi, Infinix are all immensely worse. So much worse. In fact, Samsung copied the game of rehashing and rebranding from them.

Companies do whatever they like doing and we have no power to change that, let's just accept that we can't always get what we want in life.

    Will you and several others' obsessive wishes here for a compact, affordable phone ever come true? Maybe, somewhat, unlikely, never - only time will tell. For now, let's stop with all this begging, and just be proud with whatever phone you currently own right now.

And many of them are (almost) copies of each other just with so-called different model names. Like the A55/M55/M55s/F55/C55 as the latest and most egregious example (of Samsung trying to fool unsuspecting buyers). A company like that can definitely make AT LEAST ONE of their mid-rangers to be the same size as the very popular S24/S23. Many people who can't afford the exorbitant price of an S phone but still want that form factor would buy it. Certainly more than the idiotic M/F/C/X/Y/Z clone devices with 95% the same specs.

          It’s not supposed to mean that you can dive underwater with it, etc. You have to also keep in mind that IP67 only applies to pure water. Sea water can be salty. The vegetable juices can be acidic.

          Best you could do is clean it off with a wet watery wipe every now & then & make sure to dry it with a soft hairdryer. (Soft cool air)

          What I like to do is I like to take off my case & clean it off instead of washing the whole device in the sink.

            I've also heard rumors of Vivo preparing a compact version of their upcoming flagship X200 series for next year in order to compete with the S25 and iPhone 16. Vivo have never made a compact flagship beforehand.

            For crying out loud, why can't customers who don't have a lot of money get a single compact option?

                The A35 has a nice, useful feature: cutting board for vegetables used to make soup! You can also view your favorite shows or cooking lesson while you're at it! When you're done, you can wash it (IP67) and let it dry.

                  As I've said before: I would have liked that at least one of the new A series launched would have been compact (A05, A15, A25, A35 A55). Even the A05. Compact smartphone with SD 680. Would have been appealing. Cheap, too. Or, even better, the A55.

Many consumers want a compact mid-range phone, but it's supposedly not worth it for Samsung to produce, because the tons of people who want it aren’t as much as others who want bigger phones (but there's still lots of money to make from it).

                          On the other hand, taking a device like the A55, making one tiny change and calling it M55, then making an even smaller change and calling it F55, then just creating another copy and calling it C55, then creating another clone and calling it M55s, then making all these phony spin-offs available in just a few places to a tiny segment of the world’s consumers? Definitely worth Samsung’s time and effort, despite making no money because these "models" are all basically the same, and they're anyway not available to most consumers.

                          This is what passes for logic today?

                              I’ve noticed something interesting after reading a bunch of these comments for and against compact (i.e. S24 sized) mid-range phones. Those who want a small option are not saying there shouldn't be big ones, they’re just requesting an additional choice to accommodate their group. On the other hand, those who don’t want small phones, project their own preferences onto EVERYONE else, as if EVERYBODY prefers gigantic phones exactly as they do. So if they don’t want phones that are a little smaller and lighter, it must be that NOBODY else does either. Even though there clearly is a certain segment of consumers that do (and that segment is bigger than the tiny clientele that the M55, M55s, F55, and C55 is made available to. Yet Samsung has no problem creating a bunch of fake models with tiny modifications for just a few people in one or two countries).

                              So those who want smaller options are fine with others getting their preferences too, but the big phone lovers want to quash the preferences of others and impose theirs on everyone else. Have anyone else noticed this too? It’s quite strange.

                                Best phone ever? I mean, for $ 270... what more can you ask for?... I like eSIM and IP67.

The A35 is comparable in performance, offers wi-fi 6 instead of 5, supports a few extra frequency bands, has lower ping and higher UL/DL speeds on data, and the internals seem higher quality overall (from what I can see on PBK's disassembly video).

                                    Better to wait for the A35 to go on sale, it should be around $300 while on discount.

It doesn't excel in any particular area and is a jack of all trades. Though, you can consider it to be a leader in the segment with the long software support cycle. It also has a good repairability score. You can indeed consider it, but might also want to look for deals/discounts.

                                        Alternatives you can consider are the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion (its SD 7s Gen 2 is comparable to the Exynos 1380) and OnePlus Nord 4 (which has an SOC that is much more powerful while also being more energy efficient). Those devices are also quite good, and they do better than the A35 on signal/network reception strength for black-spot areas thanks to the Qualcomm modems. However, the Edge 50 Fusion suffers from poor software support (typical of Motorola) and has a low repairability score. You should have no such issues with the Nord.
