Well design phone, so beautiful and compact.
Still working as my secondary phone in 2021, but not as daily driver...

Very good phone for the price BUT...
16GB of storage (with lots of space taken up with bloatware) simply isn't enough. I kept the phone for 3 years but finally couldn't put up with constantly having to delete files, apps and clearing cache etc.
I've now got a Pixel 4a and I do miss some things about the samsung. The smaller size (and therefore ease of use with one hand), the fingerprint scanner being at the front, being able to pull down the notification panel just once to change the brightness, some Samsung galaxy exclusive apps like the Samsung music app, expandable storage, etc. But I do not miss the lack of storage space! Its a shame the this phone fell short in this one area for me because otherwise, I would still be using it to this day.

Only it has slowed a bit due to the memory but otherwise still going strong.

While for the A3 i can say lot of positive things, mine is nearly 3 years old, was a gift bought in UK, is still going full day battery with moderate using, i did changed it, due to the very low memory nowadays despite having 32 GB memory card, still lot of Samsung applications can't be moved to the card so i was sometimes left with just 500 MB free space and can't update apps always needed to move them manually one by one, the ones that can be moved ofc, and as you mentioned, is getting slow phone now, 2 GB of ram is almost next to useless, unless you're just using it for FB and YT.. anyway good luck with your choose

Hope samsung will keep looking after a3 users. I'd have to say that I'm still kind of reluctant to upgrade my phone, because it's super reliable. You can't get such a great performer at a cheap price anymore. There are certainly cheaper phones with bigger battery out there, but they are either too big or too fragile - or not water proof.

My a3 2017 is well over 2 years old and the phone is still going strong. Unless you're a gamer, or on the phone all the time, the battery easily last a whole day out of a single charge. Web browsing is zippy enough. Now I need to use more apps than ever before, the small internal storage and small ram size are becoming a bit troublesome. Phone is starting to freeze or misbehave from time to time whenever l multitask on the phone. I consider upgrading it to a more recent models like a51, a71 or s10e. I have a small set of hands thus prefer a smaller phone, and with a good battery. However, this phone is a keeper. It just works too good to throw out.

Facebook has made a number of deals with Samsung and other Android smartphone makers to make it impossible for people to delete the app.

The deals, first reported by Bloomberg, mean the Facebook app comes pre-installed onto devices and can only be disabled and not permanently removed.

Second of all, rooting does NOT influence security in any way, unless YOU decide to give root privileges to a bad app, which there are basically none of. There are pretty easy online tutorials on how to debloat Samsung phones with pre-written commands which you just have to copy and paste. Please don't give people the wrong impression about rooting, it is 2020 and not only stock android has evolved, but also the mods.

Basically you have to change the operating system to basic Linux then you lose all your security etc.

Most phones these days are 6.5 inch 15cm diagonal and as you say might be best off with a laptop with a sim slot !!

I wish they remade this with better internals and camera, or had given it the specs and pixel density of the A5 2017. The camera is terrible with no OIS but it’s otherwise a good phone with dual SIM, perfect form factor and size.

Best of both with fingerprint home button AND type C. And waterproofing.

New phones are all too big, might as well get an iPad!
