Tried this phone for a week, size and performance are good. The main reason I returned it: battery life is poor compared to the Sony XZ1 Compact I had before it (which is 400mAh smaller) and there is just too much useless Samsung junkware on it....

Hello friends.
Can some of you please confirm if it's possible to change screen resolution in A40 from 1080x2340 to lower, normal HD in order to preserve battery? ppi would still be cca 300 or less which is okayish for my purposes.
I know high end Samsung Galaxy S9, S10 can do it between HD, FHD and QHD.
Very important for me as I'm contemplating about smaller, cheaper device like A40, but I am also worried about battery longevity. If I could change screen resolution, that would be awesome.
Thank you very much and best of luck to everyone.

Mine stopped charging suddenly after only 6 weeks - it was 'repaired' by the supplier by means of a firmware update.
Not impressed

The trouble with most tech 'Reviews' is the geeks sit down with a coffee and look at the specs, whip themselves into a tech feeding frenzy, and think 'whaw....great specs...or not'
Then a 'real life' consumer gets hold of the phone and thinks...Jeeeees, this is cr*p....! I am one of those for the A40. The Forums are crammed with other 'real people' who are having similar problems.
Issues with Bluetooth - can't sync Bose speakers, can't sync Fitbit. Native Wi-Fi calling is dropping out with outgoing and incoming voice on BOTH sims. Speech quality on ear and main speaker is appalling, and lastly the phone network strength i.e. amplification of, is very poor too. This is comparing with a Sony XZ1 where ALL of the above is much, much better. So - after lots of fiddling I have at last decided the phone promises a lot on paper, but delivers little and is very POOR...as a phone.
For reference, I have done my best at a bit of research. I have actually returned the first A40, and got a replacement - no difference (to my embarrassment) . I have run one sim only - no change. I have replaced a sim with a new one - no change. I have changed the wi-fi router - no difference. I have made a call with Whats App - no difference. Poor sound and voice drop-out. So I conclude after all that - it is a bad phone - do not buy!
GSM Arena - PLEASE adjust your review process to start with the phone "as a phone performance" 1st, then look at other stuff!

Can anyone confirm or deny that while on bad reception the device takes ages to transition from 4g to 3g even crawling to no signal and needing to switch flight mode on-off to reconnect? I might upgrade a 2.8 year old a3 2017 if the above is not true. But still no ip68 daaamn. Then again I might keep my perfectly working A320fl
