Just bought a Samsung Galaxy A42 5G from th... moreThe US spec seems to be missing the macro camera in the top left of the square, which is replaced by the led flash (yellow/white), which is usually positioned separate to the square in the picture of other specs of the phone (hence the u shape of the cases).
The macro camera isn't that great though.

I am a newbie. Just bought a Samsung Galaxy A42 5G from the Verizon store in Auburn, Maine. My old phone finally gave up (touch screen was no longer reacting to any touches - so could not even off-load anything - bummer. The camera configuration consists of 4 "lenses" (I don't know what they are called). All the pictures I have seen on-line show 5. Even the cases I have looked at have a "U" carved out at the lower-left of the position where the other four lenses are. I am totally confused. Does anyone know what I actually bought? Thanks

Can we expect to get A42 4G aswell? A41 was released in May 2020.
6.1 inch version A42 is a must.

This thing looked good for gaming,
Until they announced the new poco phones.
Snapdragon 800 series for around 300 is just unbeatable.

Hello all! I bought this phone recently on the 7th of March. Came for a Samsung M21 to this phone, a.k.a the A42 5G. Honestly in my opinion, this phone is actually great, I've seen people complaining about the display but honestly, it's not big of a deal. The display is still beautiful and if you don't compare it beside a 1080p phone..it's not noticeable actually therefore having a 720p display on this phone with Super Amoled is still great! 😍 Besides that I'm enjoying the phone so far, it has a good camera ; it takes great pictures including selfies 😍! Though I must admit, the 4k video is great, it isn't totally 4k to my eyes but I'd rate it a 7/10 for thr 4k and for its 1080p video recording, it's also great especially if you're recording with video stabilisation 😍, it's sad tho that the 4k mode doesn't support video stabilisation and only 1080p does but it's not big of deal. When it comes to gaming, I actually play PUBG Mobile and my experience so far is definitely great and better than my other phone ( Samsung M21), it's a big change for me as it runs alot smoother and faster right now! The battery, I'm still trying to get used to it since it's a 5000 mAH while M21 had a 6000 mAH but it's still alright to me, with a single charge, I'm able to use the phone for almost a day if I play PUBG and if I don't, it'll last a day and a 1 or 2 hours for me since I'm a active user for my phone and can I just say that this phone is soooo smooth!!! 😍 Speakers are average honestly but if you set the sound quality to custom and max out all the settings, it'll sound great (7.5/10). Thats all I'm going to review abt this phone. Hope this will help the people in deciding if this is the phone for you. 😊

At least it uses a Super AMOLED display unlike the A32 5G that uses an LCD display. A12, A02s and A02 don't even use an LCD Display, they use TFT display despite having a similar screen size as the A42 5G.

In fact it is just a slight downgrade from the S8 phone that I'm using but otherwise A42 5G is a powerful phone that is enough to meet my everyday needs. Always had to carry a powerbank with me to charge my S8, never had to carry one after I switched to A42 5G.
