Daice, 05 Jul 2021I'm torn between A52 and Vivo X60 pro.. Which one shou... moreIt depends on your budget and your needs. If you want the best all rounder that has a bigger battery, better 4K capable selfie camera, micro sd card slot, headphone jack, superior software update support (3 years) including better phone security, ability to manually select specific GSM, 3G/WCDMA, 4G/LTE and 5G/NR bands so your phone locks only to bands that aren't congested, ability to hide hotspot name (SSID), and a vastly better, more mature android skin (OneUI 3.1), plus ability to wirelessly screen share DRM protected offline downloads (Netflix, etc.) to big screen TV, then the A52 5G is vastly better. As a bonus, it is much cheaper too.
Now if you want raw power in gaming and a better rear camera set up with telephoto and 4K 60fps main camera video and are willing to spend an additional $205 on top of the price of the A52 5G, at the expense of less flexibility and fewer features (mentioned above in the A52 5G), which you may not need at all, then get the X60 Pro.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2021The Samsung A70, A71 don't have OIS and the details at... moreI already know the hardware differences and the lack of ois on the older models, but to a degree that shake can be minimised using a gimbal or a tripod or monopod.
I use tripod mainly because I already had leftover gear from my days using dslr at motorsport events.....not even sure if I want to get back in to that now after so long not being able to go.
All I needed to know was the noise reduction / suppression level on the samsung.
it's one of my dislikes of the samsung range when using the stock camera app.
I use to use apps like open camera and bacon camera just to deactivate the noise reduction process, when using jpeg capture.
it will never happen but I would like it if iphone started getting camera mods, especially on the larger sensor models.
I managed to tweak a gcam output curve last night to get a more pleasing result , by which I mean a more pleasing result for my taste.
Coming from canon dslr I always shot raw, used low contrast settings and liked a muted colour range.
I know not everyone likes the same thing.
once I am out and about again, I will take some side by side shots, using an old samsung s9, pixel 3a xl, iphone 12 pro max, moto g10 (I downgraded to this for work) as battery was more important than flashy performance , and it is so low end no one would think of nabbing it.....easily 3 days usage for work based stuff.
And unfortunately the A52 5g has a waiting list for my location and network, so it's a s21 (non ultra) or the s20 FE, or wait until s21 FE

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2021Actually you didn't say it like that at all, you jumpe... moreThe Samsung A70, A71 don't have OIS and the details at 100% using the default Samsung camera app, while acceptable at daylight, is poor in lower light conditions, unless you use GCam's Night Sight. The A52 5G is vastly better at detail retention at 100% and better at sharpness too, with the default Samsung camera app. At night or in dim lighting, because of OIS, the default camera app result is remarkably better on the A52 than the A70/A71. But when you use GCam with night Sight, you will see it performs much better than iPhone 12 Pro Max. How did I know? Had side by side comparison with a friend's iPhone 12 Pro Max and my A52 5G shooting a dim room with lights turned off. The iphone's night mode just doesn't stand a chance with the A52 5G's ouput! And at 1/4 the price! Had to compare them in my 4K UHD monitor to see the difference GCam makes. The default Samsung camera app while producing good night mode photos, can't quite reproduce the same level of detail and low noise reproduction at dim lighting than the GCam.

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2021As I mentioned, you can only start criticizing the A52 5G... moreActually you didn't say it like that at all, you jumped on my comment about gcam and made me out to be a jealous iphone user.
I stand by gcam being rubbish, although after installing a newer version to what I left off at, I can see improvements in noise reduction control, and fine tuning of deeper more involved settings.
I didn't criticise the Samsung A52 as such, more their abysmal overly aggressive noise reduction, which causes smudgy details....speaking of which, if you have the A52 5g can you tell me what the stock camera experience is like? as in fine detail reproduction on textures?
what made you use gcam on the A52 ?
The last A series I used was the A70, then I switched back to the S series then the Pixel line, which I hated....felt like a buggy beta machine more than a final product....but the main issues were google apps, chrome is naff, the pixel launcher is old fashion, so I switched back to an old moto g series and my iphone 12....weirdly I use the moto g more often

Or if you want, a 65" or bigger 4K HDR tv. The dynamic range on this phone's main camera is excellent! With GCam with Night Sight, plus astrophotography option, you will never have criticized this phone given it performs this good in really very low lighting, showing details your eyes can't even see anymore because it's damn too dim!

Maybe I'm just too picky but I wouldn't show off images shot on gcam or the pixel line itself.
If they could mod a gcam port for the bigger sensors with the higher pixel counts, then that might be interesting, but I'm not going out my way to check it out....it's Google trash

Why do you people instantly think others haven't used something, just because their opinion doesn't match yours ?
Google night shot is useful when viewed on mobile screen , but on a monitor it just looks awful, not Samsung or Sony awful but still , it's not something I'd use again.
Astro photography mode was also a pointless waste of time , unless you put extra time in to fine tune the final result

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2021Gcam is trash , just like Google...patchy smushy images ...... moreYou've obviously never used GCam with NightSight. Your comment is typical of iPhone fans, living in the past when iPhones used to beat even the most expensive android phones in photography. Now, even midrange Android phones 1/4th the price of the most expensive iPhones beats iPhone photos just by simply using a GCam app. As they say, ignorance is bliss so keep enjoying your iphone's noisy, underexposed, mediocre low light/dim light photos.
