I Trade my Z Flip 4, far better than S21, for a A54. And didn't make difference for my use. Of course, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is the second best Android SOC and far better than Exynos 1380, but for my use, both chipsets works very well.

Every single app except the system contacts app, calendar app, phone app etc. opens noticeably slower and has stutters on the A54 because its performance sits in between the Dmensity 1080 and the Snapdragon 778G. Basically, it is an equivalent to upper-midrangers from two years ago in performance (Xiaomi 11 5G NE and Mi 11 Lite 5G, Galaxy A52s, Huawei Nova 9, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, Honor 50 etc).

The Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 are flagship chips from two years ago. There is a huge difference in the speed and fluidity of flagship and midrange chips from the same year and that's a feeling that you can only experience if you're actually using a phone with a flagship chipset.

OpposedScroll75, 30 Aug 2023The A54 is a minimum 20% slower and a maximum 35% slower in... more Real use over benchmarks. For huge power, S21 FE is better, but in real use, if you don't need to do heavy tasks, the A54 is better.

In June, Samsung made a promotion to "burn" all the stock of the S21 FE. They sell the 8gb/256gb plus Buds 2 Live for almost the same price of the A54 and a lot of people (mostly youtubers), told that was a great smartphone, better than the last version 6gb/256gb.
After 2 months, the same people are complaining that about lagging, power drop, problem with Dex and they conclude that the A54 is a better choice. Cameras is not so different, design is a personal choice, features either, but A54 is more stable, weaker, but stable.

Also keep in mind that the S21 FE is was made later than the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, so the cell inside is younger, too.

Surely a 4500mAh cell should be able to give, at the very least, the same amount of SOT with the same kind of usage, unless OneUI's battery management is absolute dogwater.

Also the FE is straight up cheaper where I live, going for 400 Euros at most while the A54 sits at 500 Euros.

At the end of the day, it's your own pick. An objectively better phone that's older or a worse phone that's newer.

Heyy, i'm searching for a new phone to replace my Xiaomi Redmi note 5, bought in 2019 and released in 2018, so i've been using it for awhile and it only started lagging this year, overheating etc

I've been interested in samsung a54 since it has good reviews and battery, also micro sd slot but people are talking about the processor being bad. I'm not a gamer, i only use my phone heavily and i want take great pictures and open apps without it lagging randomly.
Also i'd like the battery to last at least a whole day!

The phone is at 444€ at a store here in France, there's also the s21fe but the 6gb version and i've heard that phone has terrible battery and reviews.

to all the users who actually are USING the phone, would you recommend it to me? any other options? budget can't go up 530€

I always say, smartphone is proposal. If you want everything in one device, you have to spend money. If you don't have money, buy what you need most.

I choose A54 because, I'm not a hard user, my games aren't so heavy and A54 is more complete than the Poco.

I compared again pictures taken from A54 and A53. I definitely prefer older A53. Yes more noisy with low light, less sharp, but more beautiful in the end, while not being artificial to me. I'm not a pro, I just want easy fast and shareable pictures.

Also battery life, I'm not convinced. Argument is, they replaced some power efficiency cores in 1380 for more powerful cores , exactly same etching process. it can't be magic, it drains more.

Maybe I just don't like those imx lenses. Same for selfie, seems aperture is different, not sure.

FEs are great. I stick to it. Looking forward for soon coming s23 fe. hopefully plastic and not that ridiculously heavey fragile fingerprinter glass, 6.4 display, great main and selfie camera. Exynos is fine I don't game but I need good battery life.
