Anonymous, 08 Aug 2024Personally, Samsung makes excellent flagships, but their bu... moreSamsung is certainly better than they were several years ago, especially compared to 2018.

I still remember the joke that was the Galaxy J6+. It came out around a time when most phone companies had began using octa-core processors, 1080p displays, and 18W fast charging for phones costing $150 and up. Meanwhile the J6+, which costed $220 still used an awfully weak quad-core processor, only had a 720p display, and charged ridiculously slow at 5W.

It's pathetic how our fellow spammer tried so hard to defend the J6+ by saying it was a decent phone for its time, when it was hardly even close to being decent, even for a Samsung phone. My guy was so deep in denial he couldn't even accept the fact that it was practically junk.

I bought a55 two months ago. The phone is fine so far overall. Camera 📸 is quite good 👍🏼 although at night is somehow a little blurry.
You can customize the phone 📱 the way you want...more than xiaomis phones (previous phone)
Battery lasts a day and without using it all the time it can last a day and a half.
➖ However a huge minus is that if you use the phone 🤳🏼 for an hour let's say surfing or at social media the phone is really hot....and it is like new yet....

xg, 08 Aug 2024whats pwm? PWM is when the screen "blinks" to lower the brightness, A55's PWM is only 120hz which is abysmally low when other phone mainly Chinese scores in the thousands, for reference Vivo V40 SE is 476hz and that's a pretty cheap phone.
As for why it matters if the PWM is too low you can get headache if you use the phone at low brightness, like 50% or so.

Not on par with Pixel, but, then again, which phone is? :)

Why can't Samsung make slim and light weight phones like Motorola? Gosh this phone is so heavy and uncomfortable to use. I will sell mine.

You can uninstall it but it's annoying that it forces you to install apps you don't want. It's basically an ad.

Anonymous, 09 Aug 2024I like the A55 but I'm not blindly praising it like yo... moreIt has UFS 3.1. Pre-installed apps are minimum and you can uninstall most of them. Fingerprint magnet like 90% of midrange phones. 1000 nits is OK. I'd say the minimum is 800. Headphone jack is missing on 90 % of phones as well. Samsung isn't offering outside of the box, really. It's just like any other phone, but it has OneUI. Yeah, charging and bezels need improvements. Phones are pretty boring nowadays because there just isn't that much left to innovative, if you think about it. Headphone jack, expandable storage, notification LED etc. were all present in the past and OEMs slowly dismissed them. And for decent enough reasons: you got pretty good wireless earbuds to choose from, we're seeing 512 GB slowly entering midrange and most phones have AOD or Edge Lightning. It's possible we'll lose USB-C port in the future, as all phones could charge wirelessly and SIM slot, as eSIM takes over. Maybe some more under-display front cameras and... that's about it. Yup. Nothing to see here.
