rsss, 19 Jul 2024Also care to ask why samsung is removing now the headjack f... moreI have already written a little, but I will try to write in a different way. I don't know why manufacturers remove 3.5 jack for headphones. You should ask Apple, Samsung, etc. But I'm guessing wired headphones aren't that popular in the first place. You like it, someone doesn't. As I already wrote, is it maybe because of you that one or several people like you love it, but maybe many people (bigger part of population) do not using headphones with 3.5 jack. Simple example do you as a boss of company will create ice cream with chocolate if these ice cream will buy only one, two people? Chocolate cost money too. It's maybe the same. For one or two people from 10 company never will spend additional money. It also costs the company, and if most people don't use it, then why put such jack at all? Most likely, the reason may be the desire to save money. Everybody saving right now. But when I had the A70, I didn't use such jack, I usually connected the Buds Pro headphones anyway while driving somewhere in the city. Cables are inconvenient for me, they get tangled, they break, they often break and you need to change them, buy new headphones. So I thought that good bluetooth headphones will be much cheaper, although I will buy more expensive ones. Because it will last longer for me, it will play better, maybe even it will be more convenient to use. Maybe the manufacturers are thinking the same way? Another reason is that the headphone jack takes up space, maybe in order to install something, it is more useful for manufacturers to remove that jack, which may not be so popular? As far as I know, it is not popular because most people already choose Buds headphones or other bluetooth headphones. I see this in the city sometimes, how young people use bluetooth headphones, I see less often that they use wired ones. Another reason could be IPxx protection, maybe it requires more investment to protect the phone's holes? Now everyone is saving, there was a pandemic, maybe somewhere still is. I don't know the reasons, but the lack of 3.5 jack is not a problem for me. I did not use the radio for which need wired headphones. So i don't need 3.5 jack. I guess most people do not need that either. I don't even use the 3.5 jack on the computer, although I have bluetooth JBL headphones that can be connected both via bluetooth and via a cable. The cable is not comfortable for me. I hope I answered the question and created a broader picture of why maybe companies refuse this jack. I don't know the reason, but as I have already listed, there may be several of them. By the way Samsung is not only one which removed this jack so i'm surprised why you do not mentioning others? Most companies right now doing that. But somehow just Samsung is in yours target? Strange.

SonyAdmiral, 19 Jul 2024Basic ahh design, I hope Samsung stop making those designs,... moreAbout design i already wrote. Other people like this phone, his design. I like it too. Very much. Looks like premium phone. It's similar to S24. Phone is pretty, maybe a little bit thick, but pretty. Specifications is one of the best for it price. So i understand that you for 400 euros want to get S24, but in reality it not happening. Let's wake up. Maybe you are another Chinese fanboy? Then i understand you, never will be premium quality for low price. China do not giving it too. But when some people ,fanboys, living in parallel world then everything happens in theirs mind. But not in reality. I advice to meet real situation, not like these fanboys of China.

Tam, 19 Jul 2024213 grams and 8.2 mm thickness for a 6.6, really ... what?... moreI understand what you mean, but I'll be honest, this phone is a mystery to me because of the weight. I had a Samsung A70 before purchasing this A55 model. In the evenings, when I lay down to browse, I quickly got tired of holding it. And the A55 is somehow comfortable in the hands, there have never been any problems with its weight. Although I have it for over a month. The funny thing is that the A70 weighs 183g (6.46oz) while the A55 weighs 213g (7.51oz), so that's a noticeable difference, right? Due to the thickness of 8.2 mm. Again, I can write from my experience that the A70 is a thinner phone, its dimension is 7.9 mm. It feels like it, even though it looks so little different. But I always held the A70 with two hands with fear, because with one hand it somehow seemed to me that it could always fall out of my hands, and it was a little slippery. The thickness of the A55 gives me a firm grip on the phone. I understand that every user has their own habits, but sometimes those fears of something else are not always so terrible. I'm not persuading you to buy this phone, I'm just sharing my experience. After all, I've had it for over a month, and maybe you were interested in it, but you're afraid to buy it because of the dimensions. Sometimes the experiences of others help you decide. But if you don't like thick devices this model probably is not for you. It thick a little bit, really.

pane, 19 Jul 2024USB-C Headset jack Adapter {USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack} = 5 ... moreIf you get the THX USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, you will get a built-in DAC that makes the audio sound much better than any other phone with a headphone jack.

The only headphone hack that can compete with that is the “high-impedance” jack on the macbook pro.

Talking about design it's pretty sleek and has a nice grip, looks awesome too. What's wrong exactly with design?

S23 series was one of the best samsung released in a long time. Global snapdragon was a huge success. Phone is smooth. I don't remember when was the last time samsung was so packed maybe s7 or s10. Great camera, great battery life, great features, feels good in the hand. Sales speaks for themselves too. Samsung is top selling brand 3 Q of 4. So I guess they are doing good without your absurd comments. You should me more concerned with your sony. I heard that their sales only doing good in Japan, they ditched a lot of countries recently too lol

SonyAdmiral, 19 Jul 2024Basic ahh design, I hope Samsung stop making those designs,... moreYou're right about the specs. This so-called mid-range chip Exynos 1480 can't match the performance of the Snapdragon 778G, a true mid-range chip that came out 2-3 years before it, not to mention the current mid-range chips like the Snapdragon 7 plus gen 3 or the Mediatek Dimensity 8300 Ultra.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I own the base model S24. I realize that not everyone has $800 to spend on a phone. I do have some other suggestions for those who are looking for a smaller budget phone. I actually own these phones myself. Bare in mind that since small phones really died off about 5 years ago, these models are from around that time. In no particular order: Galaxy S10E, at 5.8" a small but powerful phone with all the flagship features, however the battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Although they are not budget phones, if you can afford them, the Zenfone 9 or 10 are also in play. I actually own the Zenfone 9, as I didn't see any reason to upgrade to the 10 since the only major difference is the ZF10 has wireless charging. You can't go wrong with either one. These are currently the best small android phones on the market at 5.9" each, unless you count S24 at 6.2 inches as a small phone (which I don't). Also, the battery life on Zenfone 9 and 10 is fantastic! The Galaxy A40 at 5.9 inches is almost exactly the same size as the S10E, with a slightly bigger 5.9" screen. I own this phone as well and broke it out recently to see how it runs nowadays and actually it still runs very well on Android 11, which is the last Android update it received. The A40 is not only a small phone, but its also very light-weight, even compared to the S10E. It even has 15W fast charging and gorilla glass, however it doesn't have the IP68 water protection and wireless charging if that's important to you. The battery on my A40 actually outlasts the battery on the S10E. The Galaxy A41 at 6.1" (which I don't own) is also a compact budget phone, however these are hard to find if you're in the United States, unless you look on Ebay. Last but certainly not least is the Pixel 5. This phone is 6.0" and still holds up today, many people still use the Pixel 5 as their daily driver. It's not only small but its also light-weight, with a processor that still holds up today. it has flagship features, like IP68 protection, wireless charging and gorilla glass 6 and 5G. The battery life is also fantastic and it comes with stock Android and no bloatware, it also just got Android 14. If you can't afford the Zenfone, then I would recommend the Pixel 5. If you prefer Samsung and One UI, then I would recommend the A40 or A41 as a small budget device. I would also recommend the S10E, but only if you can buy one new on Amazon with a fresh battery. And yes, you can still find a brand new one on Amazon for about $300. I hope this little bit of info helps, cheers everyone.

Basic ahh design, I hope Samsung stop making those designs, its terrible like the specs, Samsung Died After s20.

That's just beyond stupid, most people stick to only buying phones from these companies because they're what they trust most, just like how Samsung users will continue to only buy Samsung phones because they only trust Samsung and no other company else.

You're really ticked off at those Chinese phone fans trying to "justify their fascination", but you're doing the same here as them - trying to make Samsung feel like the only phone brand worth buying from. That's called fanboyism, and you sir, are one.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2024Yes, but 0.1 inches (2.54 mm) are arguably noticeable. Also... moreSamsung can easily trim the body slightly to remove that dead space (a.k.a. "bezel") like an S phone, but purposely leaves it there to stick it to budget customers. Throw extra size and weight on them for no reason, other than the fact that they can't pay through the eyeballs for the most expensive phone (through no fault of their own). The same reason why they won't provide at least one compact option (like the S24's size) in the budget segment.

Well, show me a phone that has no flaws? High-end phones won't have any memory card support, mid-range phones won't have premium cameras, etc. I don't think there is such a phone where everything is perfect. Class A has always been characterized by that middle ground where the price is good and the quality is correspondingly good. Don't listen to the skeptics, it's a great device and it seems to me that those Chinese fans here or elsewhere are just trying to justify their fascination with Chinese products and it's like some kind of Stockholm Syndrome, how the victim falls in love with the tormentor. That's what those fans here look like to me. Takes comfort in how great Chinese phones are, but still looks to Samsung. If such good phones are made in China, then why are you going to the Samsung forum? Brag and rejoice. Glad you finally chose quality, I myself was a Samsung skeptic until 2019. I bought Sony phones, but now I'm not even looking at another phone. This is my second phone in 5 years. First was A70, now A55. Also with earphones, watches and other larger products of theirs. Today, Samsung offers not only their best solutions, but also offers those who do not need such luxury, but not the most elegant solutions. The A55 is a great phone. I've been using it for a month now, and there hasn't been a day to regret it. I wish you to love Samsung as much as I love them. The truth is, everything happens, sometimes I don't understand why they remove certain services, etc. But in reality, everything works great with them.
