I've had an A55 for about 2 months as a work phone (supplied by them), and I've had zero issues with the fingerprint on it. It's a decent phone. I wouldn't be too worried going from my own S24 Ultra to this if I had to.

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2024Yes, let the market decide. If we had such a phone in 2024 ... moreAn A55e with a screen size of 6.1 inches would be really awesome. If it's at least $50 cheaper than the full-sized version I'd happily buy that instead just for the compact size.

In addition, it would also be interesting if Samsung made an A55+ or A55 Pro with a more advanced camera system and/or S-Pen support, so it acts as the budget S24 Ultra. Bringing their midrange lineup closer to their flagship lineup.

It's suitable if you want an Android as a second phone, but not suitable if you want an upgrade from the iPhone 12.

If we had such a phone in 2024 or 2025 with a decent enough SoC (which the A10e/A20e from a half decade ago did not have), then we can see if enough people want it or not, without all the pontification. I'd love such a phone too. Can't afford the S24.

From my research, this new Galaxy AI needs certain minimum version of NPU that can fully utilize these new features. It began on SD 888, SD888+, SD-8 Gen1, Gen2 till current.

Let the market decide for real by actually havi... moreI'm with you mate, Samsung should totally revise their budget lineup, it's getting too confusing lately with all these A, M, F, and C series phones being too similar to each other. But, I do have a suggestion on how they could do their lineup going forward:

A series: Normal, everyday usage. Most phones have the same screen size as the S24+ at 6.4-6.6 inches.

C series: Compact version of A-series phones, all have a screen size of the base S24 at 6.1-6.2 inches.

M series: Large batteries and large screens for maximum run times and media consumption. Phones have screen sizes about the same as the S24 Ultra at 6.8-6.9 inches.

F series: Performance oriented phones to compete with Chinese brands such as Poco and Realme. Screen sizes can vary between 6.6-6.8 inches.

Let the market decide for real by actually having such a compact budget phone and seeing if people buy it. Not the fake "market decision" where the product doesn't exist and then making a ridiculous claim that no one wants it because they're not buying a product that does not even exist (due to the arbitrary decision of a manufacturer).

If something doesn't exist, how can you say people don't want it if they don't purchase it?

If you expect the same as from iPhone models, then I would advise you to look at the S-class Samsung, if mid-range specifications and a low price are enough for you, then I suggest the A55. You have to answer what you want from phone and how many money you will spend to it?

And you can relax, no one's taking your big phone away. They're just asking for some more choices in addition to the big ones. But you can't handle that. It's only what you like that should exist.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2024The person commented that they missed when Samsung used to ... moreAccording to these so-called "stats" being bandied about, all the European Snapdragon lovers (and I’ve heard from plenty of them) magically started loving Exynos phones because the “stats” say that customers are buying those phones. Now the customers themselves tell you that they still want Snapdragon but they have no choice as Exynos is all that’s available to them so that’s why they’re getting them. But according to some people’s convoluted logic, you’re to trust the sacred “stats” and not what people themselves are telling you.
Same for the Note series, whose fans are now stuck getting something else.
Same with compact phone, which is only available to the rich who can afford pricey S phones, but those who can’t are stuck getting big phones that are cheaper. And that is what the stats are REALLY telling you if you use the slightest bit of critical thinking.

The small S24 sells amazingly well. If there was a mid-ranger that was also that size (in addition to the big ones), it would sell well for the same reason.

This concept that Samsung makes what customers want (so if something is discontinued it means people didn't want it) is a myth. In fact, people can only buy what's available, so it looks like that's what they want. If Samsung actually made what people wanted, they wouldn't stop the Note series, force Exynos chips on flagships in many countries, remove the headphone jack and SD slot, and they'd trim down phone bodies to eliminate dead space and their ugly bezels. But Samsung makes what they want, not what customers want. We are just forced to choose from whatever is available, so now the "stats" say "Look, he bought that phone, he must want it!" but that's silly. A person can't get what he wants if it doesn't exist.

That makes them crazy apparently.

"Check the stats, which model is selling the most".
And? What does that prove? It's not like knowing which models sell the best prove that everyone in the world wants big phones. No need to get personal.

Not all models, but the latest couple of years certainly do. But there is a catch with AI in Samsung devices. As far as I have read, Samsung will allow free use of AI only until 2025. As some portals guess, there will probably be a subscription, say AI+, etc. As far as I understand, some companies are already doing this with their AI services. I recommend to check SamMobile.com here a lot fo information about Samsung devices.
