SonyAdmiral, 19 Jul 2024Basic ahh design, I hope Samsung stop making those designs,... moreWhy change somethings that's not broken? 90% of people using their phones with cases so who cares about design. Talking about design it's pretty sleek and has a nice grip, looks awesome too. What's wrong exactly with design?
S23 series was one of the best samsung released in a long time. Global snapdragon was a huge success. Phone is smooth. I don't remember when was the last time samsung was so packed maybe s7 or s10. Great camera, great battery life, great features, feels good in the hand. Sales speaks for themselves too. Samsung is top selling brand 3 Q of 4. So I guess they are doing good without your absurd comments. You should me more concerned with your sony. I heard that their sales only doing good in Japan, they ditched a lot of countries recently too lol

SonyAdmiral, 19 Jul 2024Basic ahh design, I hope Samsung stop making those designs,... moreYou're right about the specs. This so-called mid-range chip Exynos 1480 can't match the performance of the Snapdragon 778G, a true mid-range chip that came out 2-3 years before it, not to mention the current mid-range chips like the Snapdragon 7 plus gen 3 or the Mediatek Dimensity 8300 Ultra.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I own the base model S24. I realize that not everyone has $800 to spend on a phone. I do have some other suggestions for those who are looking for a smaller budget phone. I actually own these phones myself. Bare in mind that since small phones really died off about 5 years ago, these models are from around that time. In no particular order: Galaxy S10E, at 5.8" a small but powerful phone with all the flagship features, however the battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Although they are not budget phones, if you can afford them, the Zenfone 9 or 10 are also in play. I actually own the Zenfone 9, as I didn't see any reason to upgrade to the 10 since the only major difference is the ZF10 has wireless charging. You can't go wrong with either one. These are currently the best small android phones on the market at 5.9" each, unless you count S24 at 6.2 inches as a small phone (which I don't). Also, the battery life on Zenfone 9 and 10 is fantastic! The Galaxy A40 at 5.9 inches is almost exactly the same size as the S10E, with a slightly bigger 5.9" screen. I own this phone as well and broke it out recently to see how it runs nowadays and actually it still runs very well on Android 11, which is the last Android update it received. The A40 is not only a small phone, but its also very light-weight, even compared to the S10E. It even has 15W fast charging and gorilla glass, however it doesn't have the IP68 water protection and wireless charging if that's important to you. The battery on my A40 actually outlasts the battery on the S10E. The Galaxy A41 at 6.1" (which I don't own) is also a compact budget phone, however these are hard to find if you're in the United States, unless you look on Ebay. Last but certainly not least is the Pixel 5. This phone is 6.0" and still holds up today, many people still use the Pixel 5 as their daily driver. It's not only small but its also light-weight, with a processor that still holds up today. it has flagship features, like IP68 protection, wireless charging and gorilla glass 6 and 5G. The battery life is also fantastic and it comes with stock Android and no bloatware, it also just got Android 14. If you can't afford the Zenfone, then I would recommend the Pixel 5. If you prefer Samsung and One UI, then I would recommend the A40 or A41 as a small budget device. I would also recommend the S10E, but only if you can buy one new on Amazon with a fresh battery. And yes, you can still find a brand new one on Amazon for about $300. I hope this little bit of info helps, cheers everyone.

Samsung Watch6 Owner, 18 Jul 2024Congratulations on a truly great device. Well, show me a ph... moreSo in your mind, fans of these Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo must have been held hostage at one point, then tortured and forced into having to like Chinese phones or else. That's just beyond stupid, most people stick to only buying phones from these companies because they're what they trust most, just like how Samsung users will continue to only buy Samsung phones because they only trust Samsung and no other company else.
You're really ticked off at those Chinese phone fans trying to "justify their fascination", but you're doing the same here as them - trying to make Samsung feel like the only phone brand worth buying from. That's called fanboyism, and you sir, are one.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2024Yes, but 0.1 inches (2.54 mm) are arguably noticeable. Also... moreSamsung can easily trim the body slightly to remove that dead space (a.k.a. "bezel") like an S phone, but purposely leaves it there to stick it to budget customers. Throw extra size and weight on them for no reason, other than the fact that they can't pay through the eyeballs for the most expensive phone (through no fault of their own). The same reason why they won't provide at least one compact option (like the S24's size) in the budget segment.

High-end phones won't have any memory card support, mid-range phones won't have premium cameras, etc. I don't think there is such a phone where everything is perfect. Class A has always been characterized by that middle ground where the price is good and the quality is correspondingly good. Don't listen to the skeptics, it's a great device and it seems to me that those Chinese fans here or elsewhere are just trying to justify their fascination with Chinese products and it's like some kind of Stockholm Syndrome, how the victim falls in love with the tormentor. That's what those fans here look like to me. Takes comfort in how great Chinese phones are, but still looks to Samsung. If such good phones are made in China, then why are you going to the Samsung forum? Brag and rejoice. Glad you finally chose quality, I myself was a Samsung skeptic until 2019. I bought Sony phones, but now I'm not even looking at another phone. This is my second phone in 5 years. First was A70, now A55. Also with earphones, watches and other larger products of theirs. Today, Samsung offers not only their best solutions, but also offers those who do not need such luxury, but not the most elegant solutions. The A55 is a great phone. I've been using it for a month now, and there hasn't been a day to regret it. I wish you to love Samsung as much as I love them. The truth is, everything happens, sometimes I don't understand why they remove certain services, etc. But in reality, everything works great with them.

Also, the S24+ is a bit less wide and thinner. They all add up. S24+ really feels premium. A55 is premium-ish.

I just got the Galaxy a few days ago. Coming from a Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. My first impressions are that software is a lot more polished. The feeling is instant. It is also really smooth, minor jitters here and there ocasionally but the phone is blazing fast opening apps and doing every day stuff. Battery also seems to be a lot better but I need more time to test.
Cameras seem to be good, my Redmi has a strong main camera and I think it is still better than this one but the difference isn't huge. The other cameras are far better in the Galaxy though.
The screen bezels don't seem to be a major issue like people say, I got used to it quickly. Same goes for the screen colors which I think they're fine, but I've been using natural color profiles all my life. Fingerprint scanner is slower than Redmi's but I haven't had issues where it fails or something like that.
Size and ergonomics are real cons of this phone. It is way heavier and bulky, my Redmi is slimmer and lighter, more comfortable to use. I guess you get used to it but yeah, it is a brick.
Overall nice stuff, I was fed up with Xiaomi's MIUI 14 and HyperOS to be honest and this feels like a breath of fresh air. I will be selling the Redmi most likely and fully daily driving this soon.

FalShy1611, 18 Jul 2024Seems like there is a big downgrade on the Display, A54 has... moreThat's because the A55's display is bigger than the A54's at 6.6 inches compared to 6.4, but the resolution stays the same, so the pixel count is smaller.
However, calling 390ppi a "big downgrade" over 403ppi is ridiculous. You'd need to have incredibly good eyesight just to notice the difference.

Just agreeing with you, because I think you also write a lot of truth. In my opinion, the only good thing about Chinese phones is that manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Google, etc. must try to please consumers even more. I don't see anything good from Chinese manufacturers anymore, no benefit.
