Folks, stop looking at specs sheets, benchmark scores, proof-less comments from people regarding their bad experiences with older Samsung devices, and whatnot. How about try using the phone for yourselves for 1-2 years first before passing judgement?
Getting an old used flagship isn't a viable option for most users because not everyone is comfortable with buying used phones.

Sasmung, 18 Feb 2025Samsung A56 has base price of €439 at the release and not €... morePoco X7 Pro hasn't been officially launched here yet, but I'm not interested in it because it doesn't have eSIM and the cameras suck.
OnePlus phones are not sold in my country.
Xiaomi 14T has lackluster battery life and its main camera suffers from focus hunting while recording videos. Such a shame cause almost everything else about it is pretty good.
BTW, the 14T doesn't have a hardware proximity sensor. Hardware info apps like Device Info HW reports it as using a virtual proximity sensor from Elliptic Labs, which is the same virtual sensor Xiaomi uses on a majority of their budget/midrange phones including the Poco X7 Pro.

After 2-3 months you can usually get an A5 series phone for €310, which to me makes it a good deal.

I hope there's enough of a upgrade over the A55. The main camera hasn't changed much over the years. Even the new Nothing phone 3a Pro might have a better camera setup.

Even my Note 10 Lite from 5 years ago supported 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/240fps

This was a conscious decision from their part, not some Exynos issue.
That's exactly the kind of phone, ppl will buy => it will be slow asf 1-2 years in => they conclude android is just garbage => go apple next time, instead of a more expensive android.
Samsung is the part of the problem with these overly expensive, yet astonishingly weak midrange devices.
A fixed Exynos 2200+ would have been a lot better. It has the performance you would nowadays expect in midrange. It was plagued by the horrid manufacturing of the samsung foundry, but that was sorted with 4lpp+ already so they could just rerelease that on the fixed node with minor changes.
As it is now, it would make a lot more sense to buy a second-hand S22+ or even better S23+, than an A56.
The lack of the proximity sensor and the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner already makes the idea pretty enticing, but the 1580 SoC actually makes me wonder what's the point of this device when older flagships exist and are a lot better.

For that price range, there is Poco X7 pro, Oneplus 12R for performance focused, and Xiaomi 14T for both telephoto camera and performance. Also those phone already equipped with physical proximity sensor, and not virtual one.

Samsung should stop manufacturing mobiles with virtual proximity sensor in it. Very important and crucial sensor is not the hardware one. This is a huge problem for the users to use the phone under direct sun light or shade during day time or in pitch dark in night. phone behaves very weird and even it doesn't responds properly to our input.
